Things are not always what they look like.

Adan has been in a catatonic state ever since the pride rescued him from one of Glass’ labs—or at least that’s what everyone thinks, even the doctors. Jared has tried to find a solution for a year now, but Adan isn’t getting better. Jared’s last resource is finding Adan’s mate, and when he finally does, things start changing.

Yanis has been asked to check if he’s Adan’s mate, and when he finds out he is, he’s scared. He wants his mate to be better, but he has no idea how to help. Adan seems to be breaking down, though, so Yanis spends time with him, until something happens.

Adan has locked himself in his own mind, scared of what he’d do if he didn’t. He already hurt two men, and the last thing he wants is a repeat of that, but his mate’s presence by his side is making staying in his mind hard. Still, Adan has every intention of doing just that, but the power he’s been trying to suppress flares out, and Yanis is hit.

When Adan finally comes out of his self-imposed isolation, he’s immediately put to work. Time is running out to find the mole, and Adan helps as well as he can, but will it be enough?

Catherine is the creator of several series, most of them paranormal, including the Whitedell Pride Series and the Gillham Pack Series. While she graduated in translation, she decided to go the writer’s way because it was more fun to create her own stories and characters.
She’s been living in Italy for more than twenty years, but she’s a daughter of the North—Belgium to be precise—and she misses it so much that she’s already planning to move back.
She loves pizza—probably too much —her pets, and of course, books. She sneaks some reading time in her schedule every time she has five minutes free from writing, demands from her various pets and son, and lastly, housework.

This was book 19 in the "Whitedell Pride" series. Adan has been in a catatonic state ever since the pride rescued him from one of Glass’ labs at least that's what everyone has thought it was more of a self-imposed state. Jared and Adrian and the rest of the medical staff have done everything they can to help him. Jared decides to find his mate and bring in unmated males from different packs which brought not only his mate Yannis but also Ira Darin's mate. Adan knew instantly when his mate walked into his room but he doesn't know what to do he knows that he is different that they done something to him in the lab he killed two of the guards in the lab and he is afraid of hurting someone else and he doesn't want to hurt his mate. This was a good read and I felt bad for Aden and those who were found in the labs a lot of things were done to them and those who were sold by there families I think it was made even worse to be betrayed by loved ones like Ira or Jayden or even what the old Alpha of the Gillham pack did to them. Yannis doesn't know how to help his mate and while talking to Adan he feels something like magic enter his chest he knows its Adan and he tells Jared about it where he sets out to find out what they did to him so he ask Jayden and Isaiah to help. Turns out Adan is an empathic vampire who feeds on emotions and not blood which they know nothing about so they ask Emery to help. After waking up Adan and Yannis begin getting to know each other the other members are shocked that Adan is up and awake and all of them are happy Adan learns how to feed on different emotions. Dominic ask Adan and Yannis to work with the council and to help find the mole in the pride. Every time these two started to get intimate someone knocked or called or Keenan and Nysys shimmered into their room. This was a really good read. Turns out Blair and Delevan are mated but Blair hooked up with Benjamin I can't wait to read this book Blair is afraid of Dominic. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.

Back to my series binge for a bit - needed something a bit simpler. With a series of short stories/novellas, the characters and world becomes more developed, the farther you go. This is - I think - the second time I have series binged the Whitedale and Gilham series. So the third reread for me. Still one of my favorite comfort snacks.

Adan has made appearances in a number of Whitedell Pride books, despite the poor shifter living in a catatonic state since being rescued from the Glass Research labs. In the last Whitedell installment Adan’s mate, Yanis, recognized the little bobcat as belonging to him, but it wasn’t until this book that Adan finally allows himself to awaken and become part of the world again.

This installment was kinda awesome. I guess because we’ve seen Adan being looked after in previous books, I had formed an assumption that he was going to need looking after in this book too. But once our cute little bobcat wakes up he shows that he really doesn’t need anyone to look after him. He’s got spunk. I loved his personality and his interactions with the other members of the pride. As usual Keenan and Nysys attempted to steel the show, but these two MCs managed to hold their own in some very entertaining exchanges.

There were a few twists and turns packed into this story that I just didn’t see coming, and for the first time I found myself dissatisfied with the length of a book in this series. It’s not that it needed to be longer; if you read this series then you know that many of the storylines carry on throughout each book. But I needed it to be longer because I wasn’t ready to stop reading the action that was happening on page.

I liked the way that the author dealt with Adan’s “sudden recovery”. Deciding that Adan should suddenly awaken from a coma just because his mate turns up would have been the easy and obvious route to take, and would have been totally acceptable within the bounds of this series. But instead Ms. Lievens chose to throw us a curve ball I didn’t see coming and I enjoyed where she took this story.

We also finally have the identity of the traitor confirmed (I think we all saw that one coming) but again that did not play out the way I was expecting. I can’t wait to see how that doozy of a twist plays out in the next few stories.

I now feel like I’d begun cruising through this series, though enjoying it for sure, and this story just jolted me back to excitement and wanting more.

And once again – the Whitedell Pride series must be read in order starting with Jamie.

Summary:
Adan may have been unresponsive, but it was incredible how many members of the Whitedell Pride never gave up. They spent hours talking and spending time with him with the hope that it would help him. Jared, their doctor, devised a plan to bring as many unmated shifters hoping that the would find his mate and in the end it worked! Yanis couldn't believe it when he realized than Adan was his mate, but the most astonished was Adan. He wasn't unaware of his surrounding as much as trying to protect others around him. The Glass labs experimented on him in ways that no one, not even Adan, understood and he is scared of hurting anyone like he did at the labs. It was astonishing experiencing the changes in Adan as he took back his life with Yanis and the other members of the pack. Once again Nysys and Keenan took center stage with their flamboyant, irrepressible personalities bringing laughter and craziness into the story. The love and acceptance between Adan and Yanis can only get better and the band together with the Pride as they fight to keep each other safe from hunters who have vowed to kill them all.

Ooooo! We finally get to see what the deal is with Adan! Aaaaand…. It was NEAT!

I loved the new “thing” that is part of Adan’s DNA – no spoilers here! But it’s interesting!

That’s the cool thing about opening up this series to “other creatures” we get a little variation from the whole “shifter” thing.

Adan and Yanis don’t really connect as much as some of the other couples so that was disappointing but this was balanced by the new “powers” that Adan has so…

Overall, I think this series is like crack and I still love it! Some couples work better than others, but I like seeing where the story arc goes.

LOVED this one! I just loved Adan, I thought that he was refreshing because of his differences. I really loved him "waking up" and getting to know the gang there, and also his new mate. I don't want to give too much away, so I will just say that I definitely enjoyed this one. I loved Yanis, I loved how patient and caring he was with Adan. And, of course, Keenan and Nysys stole the show!

Love that we found out who the mole is - can't wait to see what's going to happen next with that! I hope that it'll be Blair and Delevan's story next! Love this series, can't wait for the next one!

This title was originally reviewed for Prism Book Alliance®

Another month, another visit to Widedell. This time, we visit with Adan and Yanis. We first met Yanis in (we probably met him before in Gillham, but he didn't stick with me then) the previous Whitedell Pride Book, Darin. He is a good friend to Cobra Shifter Ira. We also discovered in that book the he is the fated mate of catatonic shifter -- and Glass Lab survivor -- Adan.

Very enjoyable. Adan finally came to to the world of the living, with the help of his mate, Yanis. Adan was using his new abiliity to find out who the mole was, to help Dominic. Yanis is a very supportive mate and ding whatever is necessary to help Adan. The ending was pretty good.

This was a step forward in the series. For me, it is leaning towards a 3,5. It's shaping up from a definite lull in the series story arc.

VERY raw notes, may contain spoilers but probably nothing major.

That's either a very high bed or tiny boxes if he can shove them under his bed.

Very cool recognizing that a white lion is a result of a recessive gene not a separate species. It's cool that he's white and his mom is black.

I love that not everyone gets along and likes each other. It's realistic.

A character who's female who doesn't have to be (e.g., not a mother or wife) who's also good! She of course wears hot pink and high heels but at least that's not stereotypical vampire. There are two other good woman too but One's a typical mom and the other a sister whose only personal info we learned is that she's been pregnant abd had cravings and is a new mom.

I think poking around at someone's emotions is violating actually.

I think some people would be pissed that he was essentially what they might consider faking it. I would think Soren would feel violated.

I've noticed in these books, most of the shifter books, that when someone is interested in cooking, it's either baking, or they cook really boring meat and potatoes. The allegedly amazing meals are like roast beef mashed potatoes and green beans, about as middle America as you can get which does not describe an amazing chef to me. Now this:
"Jared hadn't starved him during the time he was in the infirmary, but the food he'd been fed had been bland at best. Adan had dreamed of chicken and potatoes, of steak and ice cream, and he couldn't wait to eat.
"Adan speared a potato and put it in his mouth, almost meaning at the taste. It had been too long."
I can't think of a more bland meal than chicken and potatoes. What the hell did he eat for protein in the infirmary? Vegetarian proteins are not bland. This is so weird given the author lives in Italy which she describes as, "country of good food and hot men." Does she think Americans don't eat Italian food?

Yeah actually, the alpha could do something about Nysys shimming in people's rooms without permission. It's not okay and should be treated like any other inappropriate behavior. If he were stealing from people, would Dominic say the same thing? Nysys doesn't even live there. He could be banished from the house. Privacy is extremely important. There are things I could be humiliated by if someone who was not my mate saw.

Why did he ask Aden to be on the council? It should be Sylvie.
