The Phoenix Adventures #8

Through Uncharted Space

Rate this book
COMING SOON IN 2026 - slightly revised re-release.
This edition will be no longer in print.

A deep-space convoy master who demands everyone follow his rules...and the stowaway scam artist who’s never met a rule she wouldn’t break.

Dare Phoenix runs his convoy with absolute control. In uncharted space, lives depend on it. When one plain, dowdy woman comes aboard, his gut tells him that something is off about her. Soon there are assassins on his ship, sabotage, and people dying, and Dare discovers his drab passenger is definitely not what she seems. Instead, he uncovers a smart-mouthed scam artist who defies him at every turn.

Dakota Jones is a survivor. Life has taught her that if you don’t grab what you want, someone else will snatch it away. Tired of having nothing, she’s stolen a map to the location of an immense lost treasure from Earth and she’s going to find it. Okay, so maybe stealing the map from a deadly terrorist group wasn’t her best decision, but now she just needs to dodge their crazy followers, hide out on the Phoenix Convoy, and find a way to decode the map. Easy, right? Wrong. As soon as she sets eyes on the sexy, in-charge Dare Phoenix, she knows she’s made a terrible mistake.

Dare and Dakota strike sparks at every turn…but with her life in danger, she reluctantly agrees to join forces with Dare to find the treasure. But every step of their adventure is dogged by danger, and the biggest threat they face is getting burned by their incendiary attraction. On this hunt, they will find themselves going beyond their depths, tested to their limits, and deep in uncharted territory.

Note to readers: This sci fi romance contains a lot of action (think assassins, space terrorists, underwater adventures), cool offsiders (some sexy brothers) and a steamy romance (lots of sexy times between a bossy man and a smart-mouthed scam artist). This is treasure hunting sci-fi style. So if you like it fast, and fun, and sexy, this is for you!

A good add to the series! :)
Loved the heroine, Dakota! The hero, Dare was too dominant for me, but since Dakota enjoyed it who am I to complain?! LOL
The Phoenix brothers/cousins & Co. are always fun to read! Their adventures are like a pirate stories of old! :)

A welcome return of the Phoenix clan and I hadn't realised just how much I had missed them. The author has recently concentrated on putting out Earth bound books so it's was a delight to catch up with her space travelling, gun toting Phoenix family. Add in a treasure hunt, adventure and romance and all the ingredients are here for a fabulous journey beyond the stars!
Dare Phoenix, convoy leader, womaniser, domineering male and all round bad ass and yet there's a soft spot in him. Dare isn't the sort to look away when the vulnerable are targeted but what if he meets someone both fragile , in danger and pig headed? Yes the latest passenger Dakota Jones, is a woman with a secret and trust me she is not going to go quietly, no not no way. They can send assassins, follow her into deep space but there's absolutely no way that this time anyone is going to pull the rug out from under her feet! Dare might think he rules his ship but no way will he ever be the boss of Dakota. Two stubborn people are about to collide with reverberations that will rock their worlds!
What I like most about this authors work is that we always get transported on an adventure and this book is no different. Ok I admit at times I might need to suspend belief but hey it's sci fi and it's fun so no complaints here. Yes it's a little steamy but I'm a romance reader so never complain about that. The end did however feel a tad abrupt this time but I know full well that I will be back for more

I have to admit to being disappointed in Through Uncharted Space. I loved the first Phoenix Adventures but the later ones have come across as same old, same old. I can predict how the characters act, their backgrounds and the action as the story progresses. Here we have the strong female who does not want help, the alpha hero who has a wounded background and I already knew how they react to each other. I even knew when and where the danger was going to happen. I would like more unusual twists in future stories. Keep me guessing. That will get away from same old, same old.

I’ve enjoyed every single book in Hackett’s Phoenix Adventures series, from the very beginning At Star's End to this latest book in the series.

And one of these days I fully expect to discover that the contemporary treasure hunting family in her new Treasure Hunter Security series are the direct ancestors of the Phoenix brothers – both sets of them.

The Phoenix Adventures are set in a gritty far-future post-diaspora galaxy. The mother planet, Earth, is still a nuclear wreck, explored all too dangerously in Return to Dark Earth.

Humans have even interbred, or genetically engineered, some interesting hybrids, like Nissa Phoenix (nee Sanders), Captain of the Phoenix convoy flagship and wife to her former nemesis, Justyn Phoenix (see Beyond Galaxy's Edge for the details on that story.)

In this latest entry in the series, Through Uncharted Space, Dare Phoenix and his brothers Justyn and Rynan are indeed traveling through uncharted space, leading a convoy to far-distant worlds, taking their passengers into the unsettled black where there is opportunity for a better life for many, and a chance of adventure for others.

For this branch of the Phoenix family, it’s a living.

But when Dare discovers that one of their passengers is much, much more than she initially appeared to be, the whole family gets bit by the treasure hunting bug yet again. And Dare finds that the troublesome package that Dakota Jones represents is everything that he’s been searching for – whether they find the treasure she seeks or not.

As Dare and Dakota at first resist but eventually succumb to the chemistry between them, the convoy detours into a search for a long-lost Earth treasure ship – and the waterworld it crashed on.

In order to get the treasure all that Dare and Dakota have to do is find a planet that no one believes exists, while dodging a horde of determined assassins who will let nothing get in the way of getting to the treasure first – and killing anyone who gets in their way. And Dakota Jones is first on their hit list.

Escape Rating A-: I picked this up because I was looking for a book that would carry me away to its world for a few blissful hours – and Anna Hackett’s books always do.

This is a long-running series, and I enjoy it every single time. Which doesn’t mean that there are not easily discernible patterns to the stories. Just like Eos Rai in the first book, At Star’s End, Dakota is hiding who she is and what she really wants in order to reach a goal that she fears the Phoenixes will steal from her. All the while hiding from someone much more nefarious in pursuit.

And both women have roughly the same goal, to find the location of a lost Earth transport ship carrying massive amounts of pre-diaspora Earth treasure. Eos, who has a brief cameo in Through Uncharted Space, found the Mona Lisa and countless Terran art treasures. Dakota is searching for the Atocha Treasure, which may be the treasure from the Spanish treasure galleon the Nuestra Senora de Atocha. If it isn’t this actual treasure, the prize in Through Uncharted Space was almost certainly inspired by it.

One of the fascinating things about this series is the way that the stories link together, without absolutely requiring the reader to start at the very beginning (although it’s all awesome, so why wouldn’t you?)

In this case, the assassins hunting Dakota are in the employ of Nissa Phoenix’ brother, who is the leader of a deadly cult. We’ve run into him and his gang before, and we undoubtedly will again.

But the story here, as always, is the search for the treasure and the unexpected romance between Dakota and Dare. That romance is not unexpected on the part of the reader, but it certainly is on the part of the participants.

Both of these people have a whole lot of dark buried in their pasts. They both come from histories of extreme poverty and hellish abuse, and they both escaped. But neither believes themselves either capable of or worthy of being loved, and neither trusts outsiders at all. They have a tremendous amount to overcome, and nothing that happens in this story makes it easy.

But it is so satisfying when they make it.

This one wasn’t very original but I still enjoyed the action and a good treasure hunt. The characters, Dare and Dakota, were both strong willed survivors who are learning to lean on someone else. After the way this one ended, I’ll be looking forward to the upcoming books!

I liked both Dakota and Dare and must say they fit together very well considering they are so much alike. Both are survivors of their past and have learned to only rely on those they completely trust; in Dakota’s case that’s herself, and in Dare’s case that of his brothers. They also both like to be in control as they’ve each had that control taken away in the past. This creates an interesting tension between the two as they battle out for control of everything that’s going on. Dare definitely likes to be in control, especially in the *cough* bedroom where he wants to call all the shots. The story hints at some darker times in Dare’s sexual history but it’s not really addressed directly. There is some kink in this one; but even with all of Dare’s need for control, his main concern is making sure his partner is enjoying herself and he’s quite the gentleman about the whole thing. No alpha-holes in this one.

Maybe I’m reading all my Anna Hackett books too close together but this one didn’t feel all that different from ones that came before. In particular, this one had several similarities to Anna Hacket’s UNFATHOMED from the TREASURE HUNTER SECURITY series. They both have the hero and heroine going after an underwater treasure and they both have a nasty enemy group after them and there were a few scenes that felt very similar.

I have two things to say here. Thing 1: DARE! Those Phoenix men are something else, aren't they? Thing 2: I can't believe I'm almost completely caught up on the series now. Do I smell a reread in the near future? MAYBE I DO.

But enough about me. Let's talk about Dare and Dakota. Mr. Likes to be in Control vs Miss Has a Few Trust Issues. THEY'RE FUN. Seriously. Dare runs a tight ship. Kinda literally. Dakota is a wildcat looking to find the thing that will make her life a little easier. Honestly, she's had a pretty rough life. Between her hard-scrabble beginning and the betrayals she's met up with along the way, she kinda does deserve a break.

Only, as it turns out, the break isn't treasure so much as crossing paths with Dare and his convoy. Because once Dare sees the woman under the mask she wears, he's willing to go all in for her. He might make a few mistakes along the way, but he's intrigued by her. And when a Phoenix gets intrigued, it's going to be a wild ride.

Those Phoenix men, man. I LIKE 'EM!

I love this series! although Dare may be too alpha for some readers’ taste, he is willing to give up everything for the ones he loves.

THROUGH UNCHARTED SPACE is bk#10 in the Space Opera Romance series PHOENIX BROTHERS ADVENTURES by Anna Hackett. Although the Phoenix brothers work and manage Phoenix Convoy together in the vast uncharted space, TUS is the oldest brother, Dare Phoenix’s story. Dare fights his own personal demons which shaped him into who he’s become.

Dakota Jones/FMC, 30yrs & alone, attempts to hide her identity while aboard the Nomad, Phoenix Convoy’s lead ship, on a regularly scheduled convoy run across Uncharted Space. But Dakota has stolen a valuable holo sphere/map from a terrorist group. When an assassin follows her aboard the Nomad she partners with Convoy Master Dare Phoenix/MMC and the Phoenix Brothers to evade those who pursue her, to be among the first to locate a particular ancient Terran treasure, and to split the profits with Dare and his family. Dakota has never dealt with the Phoenix family before and is unprepared for their loyalty, perseverance, and generosity to those they love. Nor does she know what to do with the spark that ignites between herself and Dare Phoenix.

THROUGH UNCHARTED SPACE moves quickly with plenty of action and obstacles in vastly unique worlds. The main characters have their own hard won integrity and strengths and importantly, I like them and want Dakota and Dare to find that inner peace they both desire. THROUGH UNCHARTED SPACE, #10 could be read as a standalone title but characters introduced in bk#1 of the series play an important role in TUS as well. This is a series that continues to add with each additional book. IMO, if you enjoy THROUGH UNCHARTED SPACE it would be a shame to stop with just one book. I highly recommend the entire series (beginning with the series Prequel, AMONG GALACTIC RUINS) to readers who enjoy Space Opera Romance, Action-Adventure novels, and light Fantasy Romances. The PHONENIX series features independent, smart and spunky women and focused, alpha men who appreciate them. The series includes light moments and humor each book ending with a HEA and no cliffhanger. I have purchased and look forward to the last book in the Phoenix series, CRASHED ON AN ICED WORLD. I have loved and read/reread most of Anna’s other series. They are among my few auto-buy favorites.

*READER CAUTIONS - NOT recommended for those who prefer Clean fiction. Not appropriate for YA readers.
PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language used.
VIOLENCE - Yes. PG-13. Sci-fi “bad guys” with abductions, shoot-outs, etc.
SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. Adult situations. The 2 main characters share exclusive, but quite detailed intimacy.
*Considerable sexual intimacy is present, on-scene, & steamy. Therefore I do not recommended it for young readers or those who prefer Clean novels.

Series: Phoenix Adventure #8
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

Dare Phoenix runs his convoy with absolute control. So when he discovers a passenger acting weird, he is determined to find out why.

Dare and Dakota have an action packed treasure hunt involving a water world, a cult, and miscommunication. Dare is a controlling alpha male who is extremely protective of his family and his woman. I have liked Dare from the start so I was glad to see we finally got his book. While there are some hints of a darker time in Dare’s sexual history in this one, it doesn’t get addressed completely but clearly he has pushed the boundaries of kink some. Dare prefers control in the bedroom but his main concern is making sure his partner is enjoying himself,

Dakota is a woman who has been betrayed many times. She had a rough childhood and is determined to gain wealth and security, hence her determination to find this treasure. I liked Dakota and felt she was a great partner for Dare. They are both survivors who are determined to have better lives. Also both of them were control freaks so it was interesting seeing them battle it out at times.

Overall, this was a good couple and was action packed. It did have a lot of similarity to other of Hackett’s stories but it was still enjoyable.

Trigger warnings: references to childhood abuse; slavery of women; forced sterilization

3.5 stars This was a cute entry in the Phoenix series that had me in the first half but lost me in the second. The first half was good - scrappy scam artist Dakota vs. steady convoy leader Dare, throw in a planet where women are all submissive, space cults, treasure, deep space convoys… All fun. The second half turned cheesy and a little cringe tho. She gets insanely jealous before there’s ever anything between them, he gets irrationally angry about her past relationship even tho they have zero commitment and barely know each other (like have barely had any conversation). I also don’t love Dare’s derisive treatment of women and his general attitude of “who cares, there’s always another pretty girl to take the place” that it hints at several times. The general physics of the last quarter of the book are absolutely eye-rolling 🙄 And the end is warp speed wrapped up with her deciding to stay and have kids with him despite the fact that they’ve known each other a couple days and have barely spoken. Throw in some soft core pseudo BDSM that was really just light spanking? Eh

4&1\2🌟 another strong Phoenix adventure!

Dare and Dakota’s story was awesome. All the action, mystery, and history treasure hunting you expect from an Anna Hackett novel with a sprinkle of love and passion to keep consenting more. Both our leads in this story have harsh pasts they would rather not relive or remember, but for better or worse these event have shaped who they are. Both Dare and Dakota have while on this massive hunt for Terran history discover the most valuable treasure anyone can have and that's unwavering love , passion and devotion from someone who is heart and soul only yours. D's tactic story!💖

Meh. The book was good, but not great. Maybe the storyline is becoming a bit repetitive?

Most of the twists were very predictable and I wasn’t feeling the Dakota/Dare chemistry.

The world building was decent, but I felt that it still lacked the usual pazazz.

What a crazy ride

We get flying creatures. Slimy jerks. Water planets. Deep space and a lava planet. Loved it. Love Dare and Ms. Jones. She is full of fight. She turns Card's world upside down. It's fun to follow along. Loved it.

Good story

This was a good addition to the series but I felt like there wasn't enough of Dare's story. He just chased after the heroine throughout the book. I really wanted to get to know him more.

Through Uncharted Space – The Phoenix Adventures #10

Loved this book….And I don’t think I can gush enough to do this fab little book justice, so going to keep it short and sweet.

Dare and Dakota are great…I especially loved Dakota, we don’t get to see too many well written and likable female leads that are con-artists and risk takers and I just loved her!

If you love sci-fi romance with plenty of adventure then The Phoenix Adventures series is a must read.

I received Through Uncharted Space as an ARC in exchange for an honest review of the book.

Steamy Romance & Treasure Among the Stars

This titillating sci-fi tale takes the reader on a journey through uncharted space where life-threatening incidents occur and unique characters cause heaps of trouble. During this chaos, a steamy wild romance has a bunch of hurdles to conquer before the happy ending.

Dare Phoenix, Convoy Master of the Sky Nomad has a dominant demeanor and one look into his unique silver eyes lets you know he is in charge of everything. He doesn’t want a relationship but enjoys women when they accommodate to his way of thinking. When the infamous Dakota Jones storms into Dare's life she ignores his orders and drives him crazy until his control drops to almost none. Dakota Jones is fearless, intelligent a bit of a con-artist, and has booked passage on the Sky Nomad under an alias name and mousy disguise. She has stolen an orb from the terrorist cult Golden Nova. This orb contains a map to a lost ancient treasure; if found this treasure will set her up comfortably for life. Dakota, and Dare both have haunted pasts which have made them stronger but controlling. The Sky Nomad takes a detour to search for the lost treasure. With cult assassins on Dakota’s trail, Dare hopes he can protect the woman who has him knots from the onslaught of danger that awaits them.

The author does not waste time by luring you into this fast paced brilliantly written story. The action, suspense, powerful vivid scene descriptions and quick-witted dialogue capture your attention while the exhilarating plot keeps you hooked until the end. There are some gut-wrenching moments in this story that gave me goosebumps and had my heart racing. I adored Dare and Dakota together; their romance is certainly believable, they work well together, have fun too, and their romance is filled with unwavering devotion and fiery passion. I loved how the author showed that compromise, sharing the past, and admitting when you are wrong is imperative in a lasting loving relationship. I also love the camaraderie that the Pheonix brothers and crew enjoy. Relished this story as it was a most entertaining and unforgettable read; I can’t wait for the next Phoenix adventure story. If you treasure sci-fi romance this definitely is a fabulous book for your library. {I was gifted this book and this is my honest review}. In the world of sci-fi romance, the magic begins with the first thought to paper. Without reservations, I recommend this book.

This can be enjoyed as a stand-alone, but it is enhanced by having read the previous stories before reading this one. Ms. Hackett packs so much excitement into her stories with action, surprises, mystery, space adventure, a treasure hunt and steamy romance. The main characters both have been shaped by the pasts that they have overcome. They get their HEA (happily ever after) and while there is an obvious hint to who will be paired up in a future book, there isn’t a cliff hanger. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one!

Scam artist Dakota Jones is on the run from terrorist organization Golden Nova, which she infiltrated in order to steal a treasure map from. When she finds the treasure, she’ll sell it so she never has to be dependent on anyone again. However, the convoy she’s escaping on is run by Dare Phoenix, who figures out she’s not the meek worker she’s pretending to be. He offers his protection from the assassins after her if he can join her search for the treasure. She agrees reluctantly, because Dare Phoenix is dangerous to her heart. He in turn is intent on finding all there is to know about her, in every sense.

The underwater exploration sequences are amazing. All the action is clearly described and well-paced, so I felt excited but never lost. Fight scenes and adventure are well-choreographed. And of course, there’s plenty of steam (with some mild kink that I didn’t find distracting) so our heroes can, er, let it off when they have some moments to themselves.
The factions and locations in this story are original and detailed. Nothing feels lazy in the construction of societies and motivations. The characters are unique and fun, so I don’t have them confused with each other, or characters from other novels.

I've a few quibbles: The situation on Sulla didn’t seem resolved, and I wondered what would become of the characters that we’d met. The planet isn’t mentioned again later, so I felt like I’d been left hanging.
I was also confused about the final confrontation with the treasure’s guardians. After some of the trouble they’d caused, I was puzzled when they just let the Phoenixes and Ms. Jones go. I think I would have caused more of a fuss!

Dakota loved to take a few risks, otherwise life wouldn’t be worth living and she would end up with nothing, and that wasn’t her plan. Now after stealing a map to the priceless Atocha treasure, which is the key to her dream, she is hiding out amongst the Phoenix Deep Space Convoy. The convoy would take her out into uncharted space, far from Golden Nova’s spies, assassins and crazy followers; then she would be a lot closer to the treasure she was determined to find. But one glance at the Convoy’s master, Dare, and she knew he was going to be a problem; he liked being in charge, but no one was master of her or her life. There is only one person Dakota can depend on and that is herself, but Dare watches her with a scary intensity she finds interesting. Dare feels a mix of anger and admiration for Dakota; she might just be the ultimate challenge. When Dare’s ship is sabotaged, he takes Dakota with him to Sulla, where he has a contact for the parts, Vero. Sulla is pretty on the outside, but there is an undercurrent of ugliness and danger beneath and Sulla had offered Dare all kinds of dark vices in the past. It is while they are on Sulla they are given access to the old library, where they locate more information about the Atocha treasure. Unfortunately, Golden Nova are closing in on them and decisions have to be made that have consequences, and not only for them. It takes Dakota a while, but she finally works out what real treasure is. This was an excellent story with lots of facets that made it an extremely intriguing read. It has so much to offer in the way of mystery and intrigue and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It is certainly a book I would have no hesitation in recommending. The Phoenix Clan are back and doing what they do best – running rampant through space, searching for treasure and falling in love. This time it’s Dare Phoenix, deep-space convoy master, protector of all who fall under his eye, a man thoroughly in control of his own destiny. Until Dakota Jones lands in his life, turns it upside down and leaves him reeling.

This was so much fun. Dare is a complete alpha male, but Dakota is easily his match with her strongly independent streak, somewhat questionable attitude to rules and ability to bring him to his knees in more ways than one. They both have reasons for being the way they are and neither give up control easily, but they make one helluva team once they get going.

Despite heading off beyond Galaxy’s Edge, this book bounces around some interesting new worlds, packs in plenty of adventure amongst the action and even makes a few pointed comments about patriarchy and the subjugation of women. There may have been a couple of occasions where I was surprised by a certain lack of suspicion in some instances, but on the whole this was every bit as fun as I’d expect an Anna Hackett book to be – sexy too. Dare is the most dominant hero I’ve read from this author, and I thought it worked brilliantly with the dynamic between these two. He’s in charge, up to a point, but Dakota is perfectly able to hold her own when she needs to.

Another fun, sexy space adventure from my favourite sci-fi action romance series. I can’t wait to see where they all head next!

What love looks like.

The book begins with its usual document, in this case an advertisement for the Phoenix Brothers caravan service into uncharted space. At boarding, Dare Phoenix notices two pretty, flirtatious women and an oddly dressed third woman among the passengers. The third woman's hair is the color of dirty dishwater and she has on an ankle length, shapeless coat. Normally, Dane wouldn't have given her a second glance, but she's behaving oddly as well.

Dakota Jones has booked passage under an alias and is traveling in disguise in an attempt to evade the assassins trailing her. She stole a treasure map of a shipwrecked craft carrying ancient Terran artifacts from their cult, and she knows they won't let the embarrassment go unchallenged. She was born and raised on one of the worst planet's in the system. She escaped from there, built a reputation as a con artist, and plans to use the e-creds she'll get from the ancient Terran artifacts to fund her independence and for protection. But she didn't count on Dare Phoenix noticing her right off, or the way he seems to see right through her. Nor did she anticipate the assassin already on board.

I was happy to get back into the Phoenix Adventure series. Each book has a different standalone storyline within the overall theme and each one is a book I would reread and recommend. This book is especially compelling, though. And it gives a hint of Ry's story to come. I can't wait.

A copy was received in return for an honest review.

Two strong independent people find their match

Dakota has stolen a globe, a treasure hunting card, from Golden Nova and is now on an route as well as on the hunt for the treasure. Boarding the Phoenix starship to uncharted space to get as close to the treasure as possible, hiding behind a masquerade, a wig, long wide clothes and a demur, submissive manner. Already while boarding, she is raising Dare Phoenix suspicions when she looks up and into his eyes while witnessing an incident. On board she is pushed to her limits to stay put, but Dare has her on his radar, because he thinks that something is off. An attack on the ship and a struggle to escape throw Dakota, Dare and the crew all together. Now they need to find out what they want, who to trust and stay long enough alive to find the most valuable treasure of all, ancient as mankind and hidden.

This book was again fast-paced, full of action, turns and twists, sprinkled with amazing descriptions of other planets, alien races, nature and animals and a huge dose of humor. It is a pleasure to watch Dakota and Dare struggle. Will they survive and find the precious treasure?

When you like strong smart characters who fight for what they want and are into sci-fi, this is the book for you.

I have to say I really enjoyed Dare and Dakota's story. Dare comes across as a love and leave them type of guy until he meets Dakota who pushes all the right buttons for him. He has made up his mind she is the one for him and much to his brothers amazement he wants to protect and keep her. Dakota on the other hand is wary of any entanglements as she always ends up losing everything by trusting the wrong type of people. She is strong minded and life has not been kind to her growing up, but it has also made her dependant on no one and she know what she wants and will take chances to make sure she succeeds. Then she meets Dare while trying to flee the Golden Nova assassins currently on her tail. She has stolen an orb that leads to a fabulous Terran treasure which has been lost on a star ship that crashed on a distant planet somewhere in deep space. Dakota is instantly attracted to Dare he has such beautiful silver eyes and he makes her feel things she had thought long buried. Theirs will not be an easy romance with bad guys chasing them while trying to find the right planet with the treasure and also dealing with an attraction that is so hard to resist. Thank you to Anna Hackett for the wonderful review copy. Absolutely loved it.

Dare Phoenix is a lover of women, in all shapes and sizes, but why is he so drawn to a furtive, dull, ill-dressed female with the brightest blue eyes???

Dakota Jones is on the run from the cult leader she cosied up to in order to steal a spectacular orb. She just needs to get to deep, uncharted space and then she can make a break for it and find her long searched for treasure. She has grown up in a constant state of wariness, awaiting the time when you try to take what is hers. She'll double cross her ally to keep her secrets and treasures to herself!!! Dare saves her from an assassin only for her to try and escape him...twice! The girl is nothing if not determined and resourceful!

Dakota is strong willed and stubborn and so independent and sharp edged, she'll hurt herself. Dare is waaay more patient that I thought he'd be. The action and adventure is full of derring do but the romance is HOTTTTT and visceral and a battle of wills! I loved the story flow and pace and the characters are all leaping off the page and into your head! I was so sorry to leave Ry in his sorry state and hope we hurry back to this world and find out what the heck is happening to him and Elana needs put out of her misery pronto!

Based on the ad for the Phoenix Deep-Space Convoy at the beginning of the book, I'm ready to travel - sign me up!

Dare Phoenix, convoy master, is a man who likes to be in control with his loved ones safe. Dakota Jones stole a map to a priceless treasure and now she's running from ruthless Golden Nova assassins. Trouble is brewing, for sure! Will she be able to locate the legendary Atocha Treasure?

Whee! With Golden Nova assassins out to kill, Dakota and Dare take the Sullan version of 'Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!' It isn't enough that Assassins appear wherever they go, there is treachery all around them. Who can they trust? Ms. Hackett somehow makes each book she writes better than the last. The danger is intense, the villains are the worst possible, the escapes are by a hair's breadth, and the love growing between Dare and Dakota brought me to tears! So if you love a great adventure with strong and daring 'good guys' and a H/h perfect for each other, this book is meant for you! Anna Hackett does not disappoint! I received an author's copy in exchange for an honest review.
