Loved this, really drew me in. Liked the pace of it. Disappointed when I read the author's note at the end because I thought it was all Thackeray's work. Although Margaret Foster does a brilliant job, I felt cheated.
Amazing act of literary ventrioloquism -- captures Thackeray's voice perfectly. Also included are illustrations by Thackeray taken from (of course)various titles that fit pretty well. Very enjoyable.
I enjoyed reading this book written in the style of Thackeray himself as if he were writing his mempoirs. It was more entertaining at the beginning; but I suppose Forster couldn't help it that there was no major climax to the story of his life.
I loved it! I randomly bought this at a used book sale and it is now one of my all time favorite books. So... now I'm reading Vanity Fair and I like it too so far.
