AISHLINN IS THE SWEET/NON-STEAMY VERSION OF LAIDEN'S DAUGHTER.
She was just a bairn when her mother died, leaving her to be raised in Northern England by her harsh step-father and his three sons. Aishlinn never told them she knew the truth; she was the daughter of a Highlander.
She had given up all hope of ever finding her real family, of ever having a family of her own, or of ever living a life beyond a meager existence. Until fate intervenes one horrifying night when she is forced to flee England for the Scottish Highlands. When she is rescued by a fierce band of Highland warriors, Aishlinn soon learns that kind and honorable men do exist. In the loving arms of their clan, she soon finds an inner strength she never knew she possessed.
That strength and determination will be tested to its very limits when she is forced to make the most difficult decision of her life; allow the English to kill those she has come to love or surrender for the crime she committed.
Duncan McEwan, battle hardened Highland warrior has never thought of anything beyond his next battle or the day he would become chief of Clan MacDougall. Until the day he rescued a severely beaten English lass from a bitterly cold English stream.
Torn between what he wants and what he believes he should never attempt to possess, he fights a long and hard-fought battle. No matter how hard he fights it, he cannot argue the fact that he loves her more than his next breath. He will do everything in his power to keep her safe and out of the hands of the English.
USA Today Bestselling Author, storyteller and cheeky wench, SUZAN TISDALE lives in the Midwest with her verra handsome carpenter husband. All but one of her children have left the nest. Her pets consist of dust bunnies and a dozen poodle-sized, backyard-dwelling groundhogs – all of which run as free and unrestrained as the voices in her head. And she doesn’t own a single pair of yoga pants, much to the shock and horror of her fellow authors. She prefers to write in her pajamas. Suzan writes Scottish historical romance/fiction, with honorable and perfectly imperfect heroes and strong, feisty heroines. And bad guys she kills off in delightfully wicked ways. She published her first novel, Laiden’s Daughter, in December, 2011, as a gift for her mother. That one book started a journey which has led to more than twenty published titles. To date, she has sold more than 750,000 copies of her books around the world. They have been translated into Italian, French, German, and Spanish. You will find her books in digital, paperback, and audiobook formats.
This was very good. I like all of Suzan Tisdale's books. This is about Aishlinn and Duncan McEwan. Aishlinn has had a very unhappy and brutal home life, so much so that she runs away to the highlands hoping to find her real father and find out whats happened that she was left with her mother and her stepfather. Her mother dies and finds no love from her step father or step brothers. Duncan rescues her from a stream almost dead. Aishlinn had to commit murder in order to stay alive so she has some big secrets to keep. She doesn't trust Duncan yet. They have a lot of problems to overcome and it makes a most interesting story. Some very tense moments but passion too. Highly recommend.
Didn't realize when I brought this book that I had already read it under the title of Laiden's Daughter. It's a good book, but I skimmed thru this version. Guess I'll read the fine print better next time!
I somehow managed to read this one out of order, and even though I mostly knew how this book would end, there were times I was almost scared to read what happened next. Holy cow! So many ups and downs, so much action, and so much love.
For those of you that don't like a steamy romance, this is a good one for you. This is the non-steamy version of Laiden's Daughter.
Aishlinn's mother, Laiden, died when Aishlinn was 5 years old. She is raised by a non-caring stepfather and three mean stepbrothers who berate and put her down at every turn. They tell her she is not pretty and have her doing the work of a man, so she believes that she is so plain that no one will ever want to marry her. She knows that her mother was pregnant when she married Brock, her stepfather, and that her real father was a Highlander.
One nightmarish night she is forced to flee for her life, and is rescued by Duncan McEwan and six other Highlanders. When she is able to talk to them, she tells them that her family are Highlanders, but she knows nothing about them or who they may be. Duncan and his men take her back to their clan, where Aishlinn becomes accepted and loved. She also finds a strength that she never knew she had, and becomes a force to be reckoned with.
Suzan Tisdale has done it again! Please read this book to see where Aishlinn's journey takes her. Will it lead her into Duncan's arms, or back to the English and death? You definitely won't be sorry.
