Falon Shaw is the go-to photographer for celebrities in New York City. She's young, beautiful and driven. She's determined to be the best and she's not about to let anyone get in her way. She dreams of a future filled with travel and photographs of places far away from the only world she's ever known.
Music is Asher Foster's passion. After he dug himself out of the pit of his addictions, he turned his life around. He found not only solace on the stage, but fame as well. He's trying to put his demons behind him and right when he thinks life can't get better, it all crashes down around him.
She's there to help him pick up the pieces. He's there to show her how to love herself.
Together they realize that their pasts can't define them and the future they envision together, may be the one thing that can save them both.
Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.
She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
I say it all the time...the narrator can make or break a book regardless of the content and narrator Rudy Sanda made this book sooooo long in his monotone. And don't get me started on when he tried to do female voices, LOL. It's why it took me forever to finish it even though it's an audiobook. I even up'ed the playback speed and he still sounded like someone just learning how to read (in slow motion). The story itself was a slow burn, but sweet. He just was not a good narrator compared to Amelie Griffin (the female narrator). Deborah Bladon, you might want to look up Sebastian York for your next male narrator role...ijs.
Falon Shaw was Noah Foster's assistant and now the go-to photographer for celebrities in New York. She's beautiful, motivated and young for her craft. She's wants to be the best and she's determined to be one of the top in her field. She's working towards a dream that will include traveling out of the country and far away from the only home she's ever known.
Asher Foster's passion for his music helped him fight his demons against drug & alcohol addictions and helped him turn his life around. He found peace on the stage. He's trying to put his demons behind him and just when he thinks his life is right on track, it all starts crumbling around him.
Their relationship is bumpy at first but I really liked how it all came together and how they were there for one another.
What can I say... I'm a huge fan of Blaadon. The fact that Bladon released the entire book as a whole was the best thrill of all... I hope she continues the trend in the future.
Asher is this perfectly flawed man. He’s strong and fights every day to be the man he can be proud of, a strong man. He’s overcome a lot, and all of it living a life he hated. He pulled himself out of this black hole and as he followed his passion, he continued to look ahead.
He’s a rock star, living and breathing his music every day. And one day he walks into her studio to get PR photos taken. At that moment, he knew he was forever changed.
Falon called him out but captured his every emotion on camera. She gave him everything and though he lived in the spotlight, it was Asher the man she was falling for. He was more than the rock star.
Family is important to both Asher and Falon and neither has the “perfect” family. Who does? Family support and unconditional love is healing.
I really enjoyed their story. It’s more than a romance. The root of it is self-acceptance, overcoming odds, strength of will and FAMILY.
The potential was there for a decent book but, the author decided to go with lots of steamy scenes to cover for a lack of plot. Falon and Asher were very flat, rather emotionless characters. They both had zero personality and their “relationship” lacked verve and passion. While the author tried to beef up a woefully thin plot with some intriguing narratives, she failed to follow through on any of them. Asher’s family crises was resolved in a couple of paragraphs and Falon’s major hang up was being a member of a very large, loving family. Tragic. 🙄 Deborah Bladon has written some very entertaining books. This, unfortunately, is not one of them.
A good heart warming romantic tale hot talented rock star Asher Foster has alot of baggage that he is carrying around he is an ex drug addict that has to keep tight control every day, enter Falon an up and coming photographer hired to do some promotional shots of him. Instant chemistry flows between these two, she is one of thirteen children and has a sibling with drug dependency issues. These two come through all their issues and form the strongest bond. It is a good warm romance.
At least the book was short. It was tenderer, than I expected, which I liked. A star and a photographer with their own drama meet and fall in love. Not interesting, not believable, even their drama was a bit forced, probably otherwise the book would have lasted 60 pages or so. I liked Falon’s name. I could not make any connection between the content of the book and its name, anyway respect to the author on this, her discretion totally.
Wow another smashing hit with a twist I didn’t see coming…Asher and Falon are absolutely perfect for each other. They have both felt neglected and abandoned at different points in their lives. They love their families but also feel drowned or unwanted in them. They are so sweet and cute together. Definitely worth the read. I also enjoyed seeing a deeper and emotional side of Caleb.
Wow, I love this book! Deborah Bladon is one of my all-time favorite authors, so it doesn't surprise me that this was an amazing book. I love her writing style and storytelling, and how she makes her stories so believable. I loved Falon and Asher together. They had amazing chemistry. I would definitely recommend any of her books, but I especially love this one.
Love this Author ♡ she makes really good book boyfriends. It seemed a little rushed at the end, like she got tired of writing. But all in all... still a really good read
Both main characters are spiritually torn for different reasons; chasing their dream when they meet. Lust, romance, love happened. Family is the glue keeping it real.
This is good, just not quite what Haze was. That is my favorite so far of the series. This author never disappoints, she writes stunning romance stories.
Asher meets Falon at her studio when she was hired to do a photo shoot of him. Asher fell under her spell and was determined to win her over. This was a lovely story and has all the feels.
So last night I read Torn, the latest standalone novel by Deborah Bladon. I read it in less than 15 hours and I didn't sleep until I put it down. I couldn't. I got too lost inside it's pages. If I'd have tried to put down my tablet and close my eyes I would have dreamt about it... that's if I'd managed to fall asleep. Chances are I wouldn't have been able to, instead I'd have probably just picked my tablet back up, re-opened my kindle app and carried on reading.
I've always had a thing for musicians so this book was an automatic love for me. There are very few things I find more attractive than a man with a guitar or a piano - give me a musician any day. Asher Foster is sexy as hell! He's real. A bit broken. Seemingly arrogant. Funny. Sweet. And completely fuckable. It might be the musician in him but I absolutely adored him. Falon Shaw was a character worth knowing. She's artist, creative, and she wants to see the world. She's independent but she's also close to her rather large family. I come from a large family so I can totally relate to that feeling of being a part of something so much bigger than myself whilst still feeling somewhat alone amongst them. It's almost humbling knowing that part of her wants to escape them.
As for their relationship, it was beautiful to see the difference between Asher the musician and Asher the boyfriend. Their first meeting, the photo shoot was intense from the off; Asher's dick almost on show, the tension was ripe in the air. Then when Asher took that call and he shared his most devastatingly soul destroying moment with Falon even though he barely knew her. She had no idea what was wrong as she photographed his pain and there was the foundation for their whole relationship; a single intimate moment shared.
It was fantastic to finally get some closure about the whole is Asher really a Foster thing. I kind of had a feeling that there would be a bit of a surprise twist in the plot with this one and as always Bladon didn't disappoint. I might not have been surprised by the fact that it wasn't what it seemed but I was still surprised by how it all played out and the way it effected them all; Asher, his brothers and his father.
I love Asher and Falon; I think they are ridiculously perfect for each other. Asher is amazingly romantic; the white roses... especially the wilting ones (they moved me more than any other flower ever could), the way Falon quickly became his muse, how he offered to help her sister, and all the talk of pizza... and even though Falon is seemingly very confident she has an undertone of wariness. She's slow to trust. She doesn't think that a musician like Asher could possibly want to be in it for the long haul but he proves her wrong and far quicker than you'd imagine. His choice of career looks to be a sticking point; it seems to point out all of Falon's insecurities and leave her feeling like just one of millions in a crowd - just like when she was a kid.
I absolutely adored reading this book. As always Bladon didn't let me down; she never does. Her books sometimes make me cry. They sometimes make me laugh. Others have made me smile whilst others have made me frown. But whatever emotional roller coaster Bladon takes her readers on, it's guaranteed to be intense with lust, at times raw with emotion, and always moving in it's ability to catch the reader's heart. There's never any guarantees in life; happy ever afters are hard to find, but that can't be said in Deborah Bladon's world. Her characters always seem to find love and their happily ever after.
Well, I have literally just finished Torn by Deborah Bladon and what an awesome read!!
To date I have read all of Deborah Bladon’s books whether it be a series, or standalone novel and they are all equally brilliant, but for me 'Torn' stands out from the rest!
The story centers around Asher Foster and Falon Shaw. If like me, you have read Deborah’s other books you will know that they all intertwine in some shape or form, which I absolutely love love love! You really feel like you are involved in all the characters lives, like a big group of friends, it’s a real plus for me when reading any of her books!
So Asher is the youngest of the Foster brothers and a rock star of sorts. If you like your men rugged and a bit rough around the edges, but extremely HOT, then 'Torn' and Asher Foster will be a winner for you! The story takes you from Asher and Falon’s very first meeting, bringing you on their journey of falling in love! What I find amazing about Deborah’s books, is you get such an amazingly wide background about her main characters, you begin to know them so well that it is easy to relate to them and all the emotions that you read them going through.
For me, Asher is the least dominant character I’ve read about by Deborah Bladon and I think I really liked it! Its refreshing, as although I love my dominant billionaire men (lets be honest here, who doesn’t!!) Asher seemed sort of normal – even with his fame! Falon is ace, sort of a fiery lady who knows what she wants and is pretty darn determined in herself. Definitely a powerful female character, which was great!!
This book has its fair share of ups and downs, which is a must in any good love story, and Deborah brings you along the way with her fantastic writing. Those steamy sex scenes are throughout, and done extremely tastefully if I might add ;-)
All in all, Torn for me is a MUST READ!! The author’s fantastic writing draws you in and keeps you turning that page with engaging characters and bucket loads of dirty romance ;-)
P.s If you haven’t read Deborah Bladon's books before I suggest you swat up ;-)
4.5 stars I had so much fun reading this book. I majored in Photography when I was in college so it was a treat to get to have a heroine that loves photography. Falon and Asher were both strong yet vulnerable characters dealing with how they fit into their own families. Both strong in their professional lives, but not sure where they stand in their families.
I wish that we could have gotten a little bit more info on how things changed later on.
What I love about Deborah's series/standalones/novels is that they are all within the same world and the characters are connected to one another. With that said it makes it difficult at times if you have no frame of reference. Deborah does put the relationships to each character within the pages, but I highly recommend reading all of her stories to get a fuller perspective of how everyone connects. I've read all of them, some more than once, and I was still struggling to remember everyone...there are a lot and I read about a book a day so yeah I'd say I did pretty well remembering. I don't even know how I forgot that Caleb/the Fosters call(s) Rowan by her last/maiden name, Bell.
I love all of Deborah Bladon's books. I love how all the characters are somehow connected.
In Torn, we finally get Asher Foster's story. Previously, we knew he was struggling with addiction when we read Caleb's romance. It was a very brief glimpse into what his youngest brother was dealing with. In the time this story takes place, Asher has cleaned up his act and hit it big in the music industry. He meets beautiful, strong-willed Falon Shaw, a somewhat well-knownphotographer, who is hired to take some promotional photos for him. During the initial shoot, Asher gets some life changing news that rocks him to the core. Through her lens, Falon captures the moment, forging a connection that continues on.
Falon is 1 of 13 children, and growing up as just another number was difficult. She loves her family, but photography was always her passion, the way she's made a real name for herself. That day she met Asher Foster, she never expected to have her heart ignited the way it was. She felt the hurt he displayed in his eyes and just wanted to be there for him in whatever capacity he would take.
Once things heat up between the 2, they realize there is no going back. But could Asher's secrets push Falon away for good?
Falon is an up and coming photographer, Asher is an up and coming rock star. The two meet when Falon is contracted for a session with Asher and he is immediately taken with her. There’s some back and forth and finally Falon gives into seeing him, commence instalove.
The blurb itself says that music is Asher’s passion, yet I got no sense of passion for much of anything from any of the characters. Throughout the book we’re teased with a big reveal, some major news that will change the outcome of their lives, yet when the time comes, it’s just fizzled, like Geraldo opening Capone’s vault, it was just…meh.
I had a hard time connecting with the characters and the storyline dragged. I didn’t feel much of anything for the entire book, and coupled with a handful of editorial errors, I’m really not moved by this book. There is a whole lot of sex, so if that is your thing, you’ll love this book, but it got to the point where I just skimmed I was bored. I’d check out more by this author, but probably not at full price.
I enjoyed reading Torn as it completes the Foster brother's stories. After being introduced to Asher in Chance about (Caleb and Bell). Recovering addict and famous musician, Asher falls for hardworking, successful, and independent photographer, Falon during a photoshoot. Both of them come from different worlds. One wishing to be valued as an individual among 12 other siblings and the other is doing everything possible to belong to a family. There's a surprising twist that I didn't not see coming which makes me want to re-read Chance again. Asher and Falon's relationship grows rather quickly and they manage to stay together despite their busy schedules. This was a true feel good read as is all the other books i've read so far by Ms. Bladon. I love that more stories are coming and the previews for them are at the end of the book.

I have been waiting to read about Asher for awhile... It was so worth the wait.. The youngest Foster brother who is nothing like his brothers.. He doesn't look like them... He doesn't act like them.. He is a musician not a business man like them.. It's just weird.. But all the secrets will come out.. Maybe he's not a foster at all ... :(
I love this series.. If you haven't read it you should start.. It's a lot of books but I love it you meet everyone.. Everyone is connected in someway.. Brothers.. Sisters... Friends.. A employee.. They are all connected somehow.. It's just great.. I would read the series in order.. Just because that's the way I feel but I guess if you wanna be a rebel you could read it however you like. They are a few stand alones.. I can't wait for the next book in the series...
Falon and Asher were a great pairing. I loved the chemistry between them. Both have their own and very different set of burdons and both are very different persons. But still they work out great together.
The only thing I regret is that the author has a very confusing Book names / numbering so I did no realize that this is basically at least the third of a set of books featuring at least those three brothers. Because by reading this I basically spoilerd myself the ending to at least 2 but I think even more books. As it seems that all those books relate to one another even if they are standalone.
I chose this rating because it was a really great book. I really was really excited when Asher and Falon got together. And I was so excited to see that Gabriel, Caleb, and Asher are so tight now. I knew they loved one another because of they are brothers. I was also happy that Falon' s sister is getting some help with her drug addiction. It was exciting to read how Asher met Falon's parents at Sunday dinner at her parents home and how she met Asher's brothers the same night at his home. When they came a knocking. I was happy everything turned out alright. Great book. There was a lot of romance going on as well I forgot to mention that. I recommend this book to all romance readers.
