British comic book writer, Ben McCool has gone from selling comics to writing them. He has written for Justice League: Unlimited and Negative Burn and is now working on the forthcoming graphic novel NEVSKY (April 2012). McCool is engaged to Heidi MacDonald, whom he lives with in New York.

Born and raised in Birmingham, England, Ben McCool was a long time fan of US comics. He first began to work with comics when he was employed by Nostalgia & Comics in his home town. There he met and became good friends with the Hitman artist John McCrea and began to learn more about the art of writing comics. Since then McCool has moved to New York, where he lives with his fiancé Heidi MacDonald.

He has worked with DC Comics on Justice League Unlimited, plus also in DC's creative services/licensing departments. There, McCool has been in a steady working relationship and come into contact with many other creators. It has been a launch-pad to his freelance writing career, which has led to the creation of Choker with artist Ben Templesmith through Image. This will be previewed in the upcoming Liberty #2 anthology, benefiting the CBLDF, and also featuring creators such as Neil Gaiman, Jim Lee, Dave Gibbons, Gail Simone and Tim Sale.

Outside of comics, Ben McCool has also written for the gaming website UGO.com, and various bits & pieces for 20th Century Fox (including interviews, junkets & promotional writing).

I am reading grumpy cat's adventures with his friend that is not as grumpy as grumpy cat. The setting of Grumpy cat and Pokey is current day. The main idea of this story is that a cat that is Grumpy and it is about his adventures he has with his friend pokey. The protagonist in the story is Grumpy cat mainly and Pokey is the second protagonist. The story is told by Grumpy cat which would be first person. Since Grumpy cat is so grumpy he causes problems because of his grumpiness. The mood of the story is grumpy because the book is called grumpy cat and the cat is very Grumpy. The Author theme is humor in the story because Grumpy cat is grumpy and he says funny things like how he doesn't care about what is going on.

Grabbed this book to read with my 11yo daughter... we are both Grumpy cat fans. It really isn't geared towards little kids, it's more of a teen/adult book. Cute comics visually for her (and I) but the gist of the material was uninteresting to her.

Meh, it was OK. I'm not sure what the target age was for this. There are lots of OLD references that most middle grade readers won't get (Romeo and Juliet, The Road Less Traveled, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.) Wasn't very funny.

This was a cute little book.

Some stories were more interesting than others. It looked to be several different artists drawing separate stories. So the artwork varied, I liked a majority of the artwork, I don't think I had any complaints in that department.

An adorable little comic book for kids about everyone's favourite grumpy cat (May she rest in peace). I highly recommend it.
