Machine Knitting: The Technique of Slipstitch

Rate this book
This is an informative booklet for all machine knitters with some experience in which the author explores the use of the slip stitch on the knitting machine to produce unusual surface textures without increasing bulk or weight. Among the techniques explained are basic slip stitch, multi-coloured slip-stitch, the making of decorative trims, double bed slip stitch, double jacquard, slip stitch mixed with other stitches and slip shaping on the electronic machine. A section on basic garment shape completes the book. All the work is done using punchcards and is completely automatic, making the processes easier than hand-tooling. The author is a knitted wear designer and lectures on machine knitting in further education.
