A schedule-driven therapist lassoes a mystery along with a charming doctor.
Alexis is a talented therapist and horse lover whose ranch provides valuable physical therapy on horseback for special needs children.
When the extremely attractive, and very charming, Dr. Gabriel Torres comes to stay at the ranch for three months and interrupts her carefully planned program, Alexis fights to keep her clients happy and her heart away from him. She has no interest in a relationship that must end with the summer.
But when an ancient piece of pottery ropes in a mystery, Gabriel may be the only one who can keep Alexis and her heart safe.
The is the fourth book in the Western Hearts Series. All books in the series can be read as stand alone, clean and wholesome, romance novels.
Kate Palmer believes in wholesome entertainment. Her books explore characters undergoing tough situations without compromising standards or becoming bitter. She likes the rush of emotions romantic suspense creates and strives to keep it clean. Her love of farm and ranch life shines through her Western Hearts Series.
This is the 4th book in the Western Hearts series, but it can be read on its own. I've only read the first one previous to this and I didn't have problems knowing the characters.
Alexis is a physical therapist who uses the horses on her family's ranch to help with the therapy for special needs children. She's great at what she does and keeps a tight schedule, with no time for dating. Dr. Gabriel Torres, just arrived from a medical mission in Peru, will be on the ranch for the summer helping out at the clinic in town, and cooking for the guests at the 'dude ranch' part of the ranch.
Shortly after arriving Gabriel finds out he's sick. Since he can't treat patients at the clinic or help cook he spends time with Alexis and helps with her physical therapy business by helping to rename the ranch, and coming up with ideas on how to make her horse therapy program profitable.
This isn't just a romance story set at a ranch. There's also a mystery/suspense storyline in this book. The story is told from alternating viewpoints of Alexis and Gabriel. The romance part seems to come naturally as the characters spend quite a bit of time together. This is a clean romance. There is a little violence (nothing graphic) towards the end because of the suspense storyline.
I enjoyed this clean novella from beginning to end. Good characterization with a realistic story line. Although it is part of a series, it works well as a stand-alone work.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a good story, well written with some romance thrown in. The romance was enjoyable with each person showing their affection for the other by helping to ease the others burden and just making them happy. No overblown dramatics, no whining, no hopping into bed 5 min after they meet. Just a sweet blossoming love as they got to know each other. A book that just makes you want to sigh as you read the last word.
This was a pretty good story. The mystery element was interesting, and the whole thing was pretty cute... I don’t know. I just wasn’t super excited about it. I liked how both main characters grew over the course of the book, and there were a couple twists I wasn’t expecting. I can’t say exactly why I’m giving it 3 1/2 stars. I can’t quite put my finger on why it was just ok for me. 🤷♀️
This book is part of a series, but read as a stand-alone book. I didn't read the previous books. I thought the characters were well rounded and presented thoughtfully and thoroughly. I liked that there was a little bit of everything in this story: Clean Romance, a bit of mystery, inspirational, service-oriented, and suspense. Give it a try!
4 stars I purchased a copy of Alexis: Western Hearts Series book 4 by Kate Palmer and this review was given freely. Alexis by Kate Palmer is a short and sweet romance with hint of suspense. The Author pairs Alexis with returning missionary doctor and friend of her parents,Gabriel. There is a lot of drama packed in this short novel. I like how she matched a pediatric hippo-therapist/PT with a pediatric physician; the annoying but comic relief of Julie; how focused and caring Alexis to both family and patients; and how amazingly well rounded, sweet, and thoughtful Gabriel is.
America's story is the fourth in this series. But the first one I have read. I enjoyed the plot and the suspense. I also enjoyed the clean romance level written by this author. Have the first three so will go back and read them.
This is the fourth book in the western romance series, but can be read as a stand alone. It is a sweet clean read and a romance between a physical therapist who specializes in equine therapy and a handsome doctor. A quick easy read, but be forewarned - it's rotates between 1st and 3rd person and gets a little confusing. Overall it's a good book and one that you will enjoy. I received this book in a free promotion and voluntarily chose to review it.
