The vampires took over, and twenty-one-year-old small town girl Fay Turner had thought it meant that every human like her was destined to be a slave or a servant.
Then, William came and set her free.

She's enrolled in the Academy, alongside humans and vampires alike, and there, she learns that she wasn’t just one amongst many; she was a victim.

She strips herself of every vulnerability she can shed.

But after spending such a long time as a slave, can she adapt to a world where she has to carve her own path?

William is used to freeing slaves, he's done it again and again. He knows the drills. But from the beginning, Fay is different.

For one, his rule of never getting involved with an ex-slave is about to go down the drain… just as soon as she can open her mouth and actually say what's on her mind.

I'm noticing a bad pattern with this author's books. Too quick of an ending.

The book for about 90% was fun, engaging, and kept me curious. The romance didn't feel insta-love and Fay's broken-ness really tugged at my emotions. There was so much good here.

Then... the I love you declaration happened. And... The end. It's almost as if the author doesn't want to extend the book. This one hit harder than most though.

I'm okay with Cliff hangers. I'm okay with stories continuing in other books. However, the moment they fell in love, it was, "we are happy", "We forgot something", and "big twist" without any resolution.

The declaration felt forced because this character was so broken and had so many trust issues, that I'd assume the character would need time to trust her feelings. They have stuff to work out past that as well. I'd love for the author to take these books and stretch it so we get a true emotional feel.

The other two plot points, including a HUGE twist should have been explored. I realize that some of it will be dealt with in the next book, but they should be dealt with using these characters, not the next book's characters.

Please, May Sage, expand the story! Give us 10-15k more words to really feel the emotional connection end.

3 stars because, the beginning really was that good.

Fay’s world changed 15 years ago when the vampires announced that they existed. The humans attempted to fight back against the vampires but things went horribly wrong instead turning them into slaves. Forced at a young age to grow up Fay has lived as a slave for the master vampire, her blood pure because she’s still a virgin. When a vampire arrives with blue eyes Fay can’t deny the attraction to the ancient one. William isn’t like Fay’s current master he doesn’t treat humans like slaves.

When William leaves Fay’s home he brings her with him because he can’t deny the strange attraction to her either. Fay doesn’t know what to expect leaving the vampire but upon arriving in New York at his penthouse it’s clear her life is going to be far from what she expected. Given a new chance at life to live the life she has been denied she finds herself at the academy, getting tattoos and even thinking about training to fight. Will Fay be able to leave William or will he let her go?

I like Fay having grown up with the life she’s had a kind hand is exactly what she needed. I like the unique chemistry between William and Fay it’s more than just victim and savior. I liked seeing Fay grow into herself after leaving her old life behind. I like that William may be a vampire but he’s still a good guy with a good heart. Together they just work so well, and complement each other. I like some of the supporting characters they really just work well together.

I loved the cover right from the start so I had to give it a shot. I’m not a huge fan of the concept of slaves even if it’s more of a vampire blood slave. However William redeems the story by being the good guy a vampire Knight who doesn’t agree with Fay’s prior master and does what he can to fix it. We had a little insight into future characters in future books, and I’m curious to see where they will go from here. I enjoyed the author’s writing style while the concept is a little taboo for me it’s done in a way that I didn’t mind it. A steamy captivating novel that touches on sensitive subjects but gives a happy ever after that just works so well.

A dystopian vampire romance where the vamps lead the world. A fair read with some serious sex stuff, so definitely not a commuter read. Each book is a stand alone in the same world. The mystery and situations are well done complete with sexy evil vamps against sexy good vamps.

This was a good romance read, but I doubt I'll bother with the rest of the series. Too much already on my To-read list!

WORDLESS.......

The world belongs to vampires now, and twenty-one-year-old small town girl Fay Turner thought it meant that every human like her was destined to be a slave or a servant.

Then, William, an ancient vampire, came and set her free.

Enrolled in the prestigious New York Academy, alongside humans and vampires alike, she learns that she wasn’t one amongst many; she was a victim. Never again. Her goal: becoming kick-ass. Then, maybe she'd somehow manage to tell the man who saved her everything she needs to say.

Developing an infatuation while solving a crime linked to an influential patriarch – and earning plenty of enemies in the process – is probably not a great idea; it doesn't stop William. He just can't help himself, wherever he goes, Fay is foremost in his mind, consuming him until he knows he has to have her.

4 stars ****

This is the first in the Age of Blood series. It has been sitting on my Kindle shelf for a couple of weeks now and I gotta admit I was pretty reluctant to read it. Don't ask me why because the cover is beautiful and the blurb was really intriguing, and I love vampire books. I mean why else would I download it right?

So yesterday, I finally decided to pick it up and start reading and I have to say I was hooked. The story drew me in from the first word.

It had hot vamps, drama, action, sex, depravity, I mean the whole shebang. I got to refer to my 'thick filling' reference a few blogs back for this. It definitely had that. Although the book as a whole is quite short and can be read in a day.

My only criticism would have been how easy things have fallen into place. It seemed to go from A to B pretty quickly and could have had a little more build up and tension. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5.

I do enjoy books that are down to earth. The author has got this down to a tee and I very much look forward to the next in the series.

Happy Reading :-)

Although this book is part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger.

Four stars for May Sage Wordless
I got this book for free to review it. It's also the first book I have ever read from this Author. My first thought after finishing it ? When do I get to read the next one? I simply loved it. My only regret was that it ends with a cliffhanger and that why it only get four stars. Still I really, really want to read the next book in the series and plan on buying it when I get the chance.

How the fuck are you gonna have no climax or resolution, end on a bomb of a cliffhanger, and then move on to a whole new couple in the next book? Are you kidding me right now?

I would like to thank the author for giving me copy in exchange for a review.

I was surprised on how much I liked this book and I wish there was more to it. It sounds bad that part of me was nervous to read, but I was. Thankfully, I was wrong in my fears that the writing would be of poor quality. Right from the beginning, I found the writing smooth and very easy to follow

A few years ago, there was the vampire craze in literature, which led into other paranormal books, especially in the YA genre. People eventually tired of them, but I never did. So when I find a paranormal romance book about vampires, I usually jump on it. I still enjoy them and they bring me back to a younger time for me. So when I saw this book on the reviewing site and its genres, I jumped at it after reading the summary and I'm pleased to not be really disappointed.

I found the start of the book quite sudden, but at the same time I liked it because it showed right off how life was for Fay and the other humans and the divide between humans and vampires.

I think I missed something when I read it, but something in my mind isn't lining up. History says that vampires came out and it caused humans to be scared because as Fay put it: they read Dracula and not Twilight (that part made me laugh). They were hunted until the vampires said screw it and fought back and basically took over the world. But then there's a law that says a vampire can't have sex with a human without their consent. So was this law designed to show that vampires are all not bad. But why do they care, because they basically rule the humans. Some, like William treats them with respect, but still in the end they are the inferior species.

It's interesting because Fay's blood and virgin status makes her the most desirable. But when William and Fay first have sex, I found it kinda downplayed, considering the hype they made it out to be. Especially since that part was told in William's POV it would have been a good place to show the feelings involved in it. I was surprised he was also able to hold off from drinking from her.

My biggest issue and disappointment with this book was the length. I found it way too short. Especially since I was enjoying it, I would have liked to see the novel drag out a bit more. Have the romance between Fay and William build up more. He mentioned taking her to a ball with all the other future vampire consorts and I was so eager to read about that but it never came. I think if it was longer it would have also given the author a chance to explore Fay's character more. Maybe give her nightmares about growing up as a blood slave and that place. Give more insight to her past and how she's dealing with her new comforts in life.

In opposition, I like William's character. He had an interesting way of thinking that was really enjoyable to read about. Honestly i would have been good to have the whole book in his head. I liked his possession of her and his lust but not so much insta-love which was nice. From his thinking it was clear he wanted her for her body, and due to her personality, as a consort later on where love would follow shortly after.

Overall it's a short, fun, vampire read and I'm pleased to have been given the chance.

When I first read the summary for "Wordless" I thought that I might have stumbled upon a unique twist on vampire lore. Imagine a world where human slaves for vampires are outlawed; yet, some of course will break the law leaving humans devastated in their wake. I will be honest, I just wasn't expecting erotica. No, I'm not a prude nor do I have a problem with erotica. I just wasn't expecting it.

Fay is a slave to the vampire Vincent. He is a cruel dictator and allows his slaves to be sexually abused and almost sucked dry by his guest. However, Fay is special. She is ab negative, rare and a valuable treat to the vampire palate. Although she is relegated to walking around naked, Fay has never been raped. Vincent insures she remains a virgin as if it might effect the taste of her blood.

One day, a knight named William come to her rescue and buys Fay from Vincent. She soon finds her fear of the new situation and her rescuer are unfounded as she is cleaned up, dressed to perfection and enrolled at the academy where she will learn of a whole new world. Unfortunately, that is not the fate her cousin Cece has earned thus causing her to present Fay.

Soon, Fay and William are undeniably attracted to each other, but will it be enough to assist them in overcoming the problems that are about to come. There is quite bit going on in this world created by May Sage. I just wish she hadn't rushed the relationship between Fay and William. The book is only 250 pages so allowing their relationship to naturally evolve would have enhanced the storyline. The cliffhanger ending was a nice touch and I can't wait to see what will happen next.

I love wordless! May Sage is one of the few authors I know that can mix comedy, hot sex and interesting plot with amazing characters all into one book. usually books with sex are trashy, hence the trashy romance term. However May's books, while they still have the trashy naughty bits, have substance and this is no different.
William and Fay are amazing opposites. He is an old vampire with a code of honor and she is a slave he buys to set her free. He watches and encourages her to be the person she could have been if not for her former master. Fay is clever in her survival of a bad situation but she is beaten down. A shadow of herself. As she finds herself growing more into her true self she makes friends with vampire and humans alike and William finds her more and more attractive in her growing confidence. I love how he waits for her to decide. He gives her everything and asks nothing in return, he even gives her an out when things heat up. I love them as a couple.
The plot is just beginning in this story as it is a series and a continuing plot line with different main characters but I am intrigued. It seems as if the supernatural shit is about to hit the fan and everyone is trying to prevent it in a different way. Some are lowering themselves to things that are illegal to join circles they shouldn't and get information they need. others are on the hunt. either way i sense a huge blow out happening soon and I cannot wait to read about it!

This book is very enjoyable! It's light and the sex is hot. I really enjoyed how the heroine had a life outside of her hero, and I liked the world-building and the plot that was going on outside of the romance.

What I think could've been better is the writing - which slips into telling rather than showing at the start of the book, but picks up after a short time. I would've also liked for there to have been some more development in the romance before they decided to marry. Other issues I had was the trope

In any case, the above didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the book. I really loved the other female characters, and I loved how the hero gave her space to develop herself and heal before he claimed her as his. That was very sweet and kudos to the author for managing to write all of this in a way that was engaging and fun. This is an easy read that will lift your mood - it definitely did mine! I really love it and will be checking out other books from the author.

This is my first book from this author, and I must say it was pretty good. Vampires have taken over and the human are their slaves. Some are free and other are not so lucky. Fay was one of those not so lucky humans. Her master at the time used her for certain purposes, which I don't want to give too much away. Then enters William, he is a good vampire that rescues those who are mistreated. The draw between William and Fay is uncanny connection. It gets very juicy. I will the next book, this one kind of leaves you hanging.

While I've been enjoying May Sage's tales of love, I must say I wish she didn't end each story so soon. It always feels like the characters aren't quite done telling their stories... In Wordless, a 21-year-old human who has been kept as a slave to a cruel vampire is finally set free. Different from the life she'd been living until then, unique, virginal, coveted Fay Turner is shown a world she never imagined existed. Enrolled in the Academy, the only university to accept both humans and vampires alike, she discovers she was a victim. While she is thankful for her knight-in-shining-armor, William, she knows her attraction to the royal vampire came long before her rescue. From the moment they met, he intrigued her. For the first time in her life, she felt lust. William is used to freeing slaves, but from the beginning, Fay is different. He never got involved with an ex-slave before, but he wants her. Needs her. And the dragon in him is determined to make her his own. Consequences be damned. An intriguing tale of love between a vampire and a human. Or is she?

I dont exactly know what to think of this book, It looked really promising and the first few chapters were great to read seeing faye discovering a different world, but having no interaction with William except the beginning and the few text they sent each other when he was away and then suddenly we have an ending, with them proclaiming their love for each other. Also where is the event he wanted to take her to? It is mentioned but never came to life (so to speak) Also I feel that William and Faye story wasn't done and ended abrubtly.. Also the whole little revalation about her mom?

I will not be reading the next books because they are of other characters and I dont see William and Faye's story being completed in those, because the focus is on the others

I really looked foreward to the series and I am sorry to say I am dissapointed. Also the author could have done more with the covers instead of just changing the color.

OK, I'll be honest, wasn't my favorite! A bit to crude for me , but I've seen mentions of the age of blood in a few other books and really wanted to know how it all began, plus I recognize this couple from Jack Hunter's book, so I did like some of it! But it did left me pretty confused about a few things, !!!

I guess I'll just finish this series and hope that it gets me out of my confusion!!! Hopefully!!!!

This would have been a five but was clipped off at the end, the Author has came a long way from the first book I read Cinderella, this book had a good flow and the characters were easy to get to know and I really liked Fay and William they had great chemistry ..that is when they were allowed to be together. Just as Fay let him know how she felt it skipped ahead and ended abruptly. The editing is a lot better mostly just mixing up the plural and non-plural moments but the grammar is so much better from the book Cinderella. Still I'm not getting the length it says it's 257 pages which it isn't I read this in less than an hour. But it is a really good short story.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligation and my opinions are honest.
I loved this book.
For as long as she can remember, Fay was always treated as a slave.
She could have rebelled, but she decided to use silence as her weapon.
Never let them know what you are thinking.
When William saw Fay, he felt an instant attraction.
However, he did not know what to make of it.
He tried to deny his feelings, but in the end he gave in.
Another great addition by May Sage.
The storytelling and the characters did not disappoint.
Loved the ending!

I found this author by accident when looking at fairy tale retellings in KU at Amazon. Her "Not Quite a Fairy Tale" series is great. May Sage is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine.

I find myself drawn completely into her stories and there is drama but her dialog is just so snappy and quirky I find myself smiling & laughing. I am thoroughly enjoying her books and am on the lookout for more works from her.

As much as this book sounds interesting, and as much as I want to read it, it has sadly been unhauled, because my sister did in fact read it,and recommended that I let it go and not bother. I trust her judgement implicitly, so sorry Wordless, you've got to go, gorgeous cover and all. There is simply not enough time, and too many good books, and I can't afford to waste any time on books that aren't purely excellent.

They never make them like this anymore

Fay is a victim. But she doesn't even know it. And william will be her knight. Which is fitting, all things considering.

As per usual, May gives us a steaming romance, drizzled with some laughs and an enticing back story. If you're a fan of vampire romance, you are going to enjoy this. A lot.

Loved it. I love May Sage. Her contemporary stuff is good, but her fantasy/paranormal stuff is great. Sometimes her books feel a little rushed, this one did not. I'm so happy she started writing longer stories. It just makes them even better.

Good book!

What a good story. It definitely contained some darker elements but they didn't overshadow the good parts. I love a good hero! I'm definitely going to read the next book in the series.

I didn't really care how much Fay and William wanted to sleep with each other and everyone else. So since that's basically all this book was about, I just didn't like it.

This is a cool story based in a world where vampires have taken over. I think this is a cool concept because in a lot of stories where everyone knows vampires are real they tend to live side by side with humans even when humans start trying to kill them. So I think it's a great choice for the vampires to take over when they are threatened it makes a lot of sense. May does a great job of explaining all of this through the rest of the story instead of just having a huge boring chunk of the history of how the world is how it is.

The main characters (Fay and William) and both interesting people with a lot to them.

Even though Fay has gone through some horrible stuff she's still tough and has a good idea of who she is and what she wants.

It's also great that both William and fay have other things going on in their lives, and that sure they think and interact with each other but their worlds don't 100% revolve around the other.

There are also a lot of other characters who each have interest relationships with the main characters.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review and I really like it. The characters were great, and so different from each other. The world created here was interesting and I can't wait to read more about it. The only real problem I had with this book was the end. What the fuck kind of end was that!? I actually said this when I finished it. It just ended. Abruptly. And I wanted more.

When vampires announced themselves to the public, humans were stupid. They paid for this by the vampires attacking back and now ruling the world. The older, more powerful ones are given states/cities to rule. Some of the lesser ones are given little country towns. Fay is from one of those towns and her vampire master likes showing her off. Her blood is rare and because of that she's actually treated better than most there. She doesn't know anything of the rest of the world, all of her vampire society knowledge comes from her master and those that visit him. Not the best examples of their kind. Which becomes apparent when she meets William.

William is an ancient and a Knight. Basically, he's super powerful and important. Hell, his brother is the King. Even though he has a vicious streak of violence, he has a habit of saving humans he finds in terrible situations. He wants Fay almost from the moment he sees her, and buying her freedom is a good excuse to get her. But he's also on a mission and she may have information that he needs.

When William takes her to NYC (because he runs NY state) her whole world is turned upside down. The vampires she meets are nothing like those she's used to and she learns that the way she and the others were treated wasn't even legal. She comes out of her shell around some people but William is left frustrated that she is still afraid of him. So he leaves. And I think he's gone for around a month. While they barely talk and only text everyday, their obsession with the other continues. Even grows. Fay is enjoying her new life and all that she's now able to do. When William comes home, they come together and she fears he'll break her heart. But he wants her. Forever. And has already started the process of making her his wife. Which she didn't mind at all. Especially after he saves someone for her.

So many things are not as they seem in this story and then there's the twist at the end about what Fay really is. But there are also some things here that are not quite clear. Is William really a dragon? Can a shifter become a vampire ? And with that ending plopped down in the middle of when things were picking up, there are just so many things left unfinished with this couple's story.

Overall though, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next.
