Really great bones - and the business part of the story is solid. The whole system is explained well -and you can see the world in your minds eye. I felt the connection on the alien's part..not so much the human. The sex was not very descriptive to me - so a vital part of the relationship seemed sort of perfunctory to me (and to the human MC). There's a child - which throws a new spin on it - he factors heavily into the story. Liked the Ex things that occurred - wasn't expecting it and that certainly helped out.

Not bad. Guy actually gets taken over by an alien because he's in debt and the pheromones make you easy to fuck and you'll submit. Sniff my mist and you'll be into more than sniffing my mist. ;)

I really loved this book. Fantastic world building with fascinating characters and an emotional and captivating storyline. Well-written with a blend of humor, drama and sexual chemistry...I highly recommend this M/M romance!

It was an alright book. I believe this is the first book I've read by this author. I had read another series with the whole master and servitude type of storyline, and I kept going back to that series despite this one being a lot sweeter, they were more on equal terms, and despite being in the aliens debt, he was treated fairly and grew to love the alien who was his Mentor. I did find that the book ended rather abruptly and everything was kind of resolved without a whole lot of fuss and drama. I did think there was a few grammar issues and it was a little stiff in dialog in other places. As I said, it was an okay book.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the premise and wanted more.
The Golheem are an extremely fascinating race and remind me a little of the Rownt from Lyn Gala's "Claiming" series.

I love the world building. It's Earth with a slight twist or two. And talk about a happy ending! Would it were true.

Work and play

A hostile takeover of a co!many that results in a sweet relationship. The Golheen are aliens that are created, not born, and created to a specific job or task. They see your job as part of you and blame failings in a job upon the person. If you fail your job a mentor is sent to re-educate you to your job through both professional and personal control. The Golheen come to Earth and start doing this to big business owners. Merrick is one such business owner; his company has been failing for years due to his own personal shortfalls, and he finds himself taken over by a mentor. He needs to give his company, his trust, and his body to this man invading his entire life.

The entire story shows concession when the mentor first allows Merrick to keep his son which is never usually allowed. When we get to see Vasados' thoughts it finally illuminates all that is happening and I could really embrace the story. It is tricky because it is a story of total submission but at the same time the two become a formidable pair. It was nice to read and I loved the slow reveal of the past. Good story!

Okay, this was a really cute little story and I have to be honest, I wasn't in the mood for cute. I was in the mood for hardcore master/slave - do what I say - you're going to be re-adjusted in this life stuff. I guess I got that idea from the mix of the blurb and the cover. I guess I shouldn't look at the cover. Be that as it may, everyone was just a little bit too sweet, a little bit too nice, a little too easy but can you say it was a nice long story. Wait, it was short and ended at 80%. Now that annoyed me a lot! Oddly enough I enjoyed the little boy even though I normally can do without them. I like the tiny little bit of the alien world. Of course, I could've used a heck of a lot more. I just needed more of everything.

I liked the a little more the second time around. Yup, it needed way more alien life.

I enjoyed the story, and the characters in it, very much. The idea of a hostile takeover that literally takes a persons entire life over completely won me over. I found myself holding MY breath to help the main character avoid breathing in the pheromones in the beginning and hoped that he would find a way out of the situation so that he could just run away and raise his son. By the time I got to the end of the book I was thinking that I could use a mentor to "fix" me by taking over my broken life and bad choices. A great story, I highly recommend it.

The book is okay. The concept was interesting, the the characters had some depth and seemed to be internally consistent. However, it didn't inspire any strong emotions while I was reading it.

Also the cover photo and the description imply a greater amount of BDSM than there actually is in this book. It is pretty tame and very much a fall in love romance. That being said the first sex scene has some pretty strong rape undertones that might trigger some people.

My favorite

This is probably my favorite from Yamila. Merrick was such a contradiction between strong and helpless that his character became compelling for me to read about. I loved how he stood up for his principles and didn't allow his Mentor to bully him into doing what he truly believed was wrong, but yet he found strength in submitting as well.

I liked it

I wasn't sure at first how I felt, but I ended up liking it. I loved how the world in which they lived in got better even when he was fighting changes with the mentor. At the end of the day it was a happily ever after.

Ultimately impressed

I had mixed feelings about the premise and I'm still not sure how I feel. But overall I really liked the book and I look forward to reading more from this author.

I did like this book and will probably re-read it at some point. I thought the ending was a little rushed and the acceptance of everything very quick but it was an ok book.

This had a lot of the aspects of an m/m sci-fi story that I like. Great world-building, a hot dominant alien, a certain amount of control by the alien. A really good read!

Not sure why I never rated this story but it is one of my favorites from Yamila, as a parent I would do anything for my child and the fact that this dad continues to try just for the sake of his kid really called to me. Enjoyed all the angles of the story and it kept me on edge.

Oh Wow! Okay I loved Merrick and Vadovas. What an enchanting tale of broken soul healing. Yamila Abraham spins a unique story about Earth's distant future with alien wars and alien saviors. Mentors fix broken companies and broken people, whether they want it or not. Merrick is a single dad trying to keep a failing company afloat. Vadovas is the alien mentor come to help Merrick whether wants it or not, there will be a hostile take over. It's a really good book, I had trouble putting it down once I started reading. The sex was super hot and well scripted. A+ Yamila. I'd gladly read another.
