This book was for the most part pretty good. A lot of stuff I found useful. What I didn't find useful on a purely personal level was the encouragement to work with Diana or Aradia (I'm Jewish and pretty dedicated to working without other deities.) I really did not like that it reproduced an antisemitic and antiromany piece of a (granted, very old) poem without any comment. I also didn't like the sort of "chosenness" piece of this author's views towards who is a witch. Other than these things, I thought the writing style was excellent and it was full of information I can't wait to look into again.

Mixed feelings! There were parts of this book that I really liked -- connecting to the three souls, and the section on star and planetary power (I'm familiar with astrology, yet hadn't seen much in the past about magical affinities). The last section on deities of the craft left me uneasy, and the allies suggestions... let's just say some of it is definitely not true for me, and some of it reads a little recklessly to me. But, it was worth reading for the other sections.

A very interesting book that answered some questions I had been having lately and gave me a good jumping off point to investigate more. I am happy to see a new book out that is for witches that have been practicing a long time and are looking to deepen their Craft. This book is well researched and written, the author knows his stuff. Looking forward to his next book.

I had this book for a little while and it sat on my #toberead shelf for too long. I shouldn’t have waited! It was great! He writes in a very understandable way and it flows like magic. 😉 It covers the basics so it is perfect for beginners. It also delves a little deeper for more advanced practitioners, too and I found a few topics that I will definitely be doing more research on and learning more on my own. His way of understanding and connecting with deity is different than mine, but that is okay! I’ll look more into the Star Goddess, Diana, and Dianus, but I also understand for the size of the book he couldn’t get too in-depth in it. I will 100% be reading certain topics in here again and doing some research and I absolutely love that in a book. Definitely recommend and I’ll be reading more of his books sooner rather than later.

An excellent intermediate to advanced witchcraft book. Devin does an excellent job of describing the exercises and phenomena in the book in a way that's easy to understand. He describes things as related to his particular path and belief system, but you absolutely do not have to follow the Sacred Fires tradition to get anything out of this book. I'd say at least 80% of it could be applied across all traditions. The journal prompts are thoughtful and add a greater depth of thought to the exercises. Worth buying this book for part I alone, imo. While parts II and III arent really applicable to my current path I still found them interesting, and a unique insight into the concept of deity and spirit.

Devin Hunter’s The Witch’s Book of Power is a transformative work that stands out as a crucial addition to modern witchcraft literature. For witches who seek more than superficial spells and charms, this book dives deeply into the raw power and inner workings of magical practice. Hunter doesn’t just offer rituals; he explores the very essence of what makes a witch powerful, engaging readers in the kind of soul-searching and energetic mastery that few books dare to address.

The central focus of The Witch’s Book of Power is the elusive concept of “Witch Power”—a blend of personal, cosmic, and spirit-based energies that can be harnessed and cultivated. Unlike other texts that prioritize surface-level success, Hunter digs into the roots of magical strength, guiding readers through exercises that impact mind, body, and soul. His approach goes beyond traditional spellwork to uncover the deeper mechanisms that fuel true magical ability, making this book invaluable for those who want to move past the basics and engage with their craft on a more profound level.

Hunter’s strength as an author lies in his ability to translate complex metaphysical ideas into clear, actionable steps. Throughout the book, he offers exercises designed to help witches connect to their own power, build relationships with magical allies, and tap into the cosmic currents that influence magical success. His discussions on the different types of power—personal, celestial, and spirit—are articulated with a precision that allows readers to easily integrate these energies into their own practices. This emphasis on empowering the individual witch sets the book apart from more formulaic guides that rely on predetermined spells or rituals.

One of the highlights of The Witch’s Book of Power is its emphasis on the interconnectedness of power and self-awareness. Hunter encourages readers to examine their own motivations, strengths, and weaknesses as part of their magical training, making the journey toward greater power also one of self-discovery. This introspective approach ensures that the power one gains is not just external, but rooted in a solid understanding of the self, allowing for a more balanced and ethical practice.

Hunter’s work is both comprehensive and adaptable. He invites readers to experiment with the techniques provided and customize them to suit their own paths. This makes The Witch’s Book of Power not just a standalone manual but a foundation for further exploration. Whether focusing on energy manipulation, spirit work, or celestial magic, Hunter’s guidance empowers readers to forge their own connections and create a practice that is both effective and uniquely theirs. The Witch’s Book of Power is a rare find in modern witchcraft literature—a work that combines depth, clarity, and a focus on genuine empowerment. It is a must-read for witches who are ready to move beyond the basics and into a deeper, more authentic engagement with their own potential. Hunter’s teachings fill a much-needed gap in contemporary magical training, offering readers the tools they need to unlock their true power and step confidently into their role as potent, capable practitioners.

The Witch’s Book of Power by Devin Hunter is an absolute must-have for any witch looking to tap into the true depths of their magical abilities. Hunter’s approach to exploring power in witchcraft goes far beyond the surface, offering profound insights and practical techniques that transform both personal and spiritual practice. From understanding how to harness personal energy to working with cosmic and ally energies, this book provides a solid foundation for becoming the most empowered version of yourself as a witch.

Hunter’s writing is clear and engaging, making complex topics approachable without losing any depth. The book is filled with exercises, rituals, and thought-provoking lessons that encourage readers to dive deeper into their craft, challenging them to confront their limitations and step fully into their power. What makes this book stand out is the focus on true spiritual growth rather than quick-fix spells, making it a powerful guide for serious practitioners. This is easily one of the best books on magical theory and practice I’ve read—highly recommended for anyone who’s ready to unlock their true potential.

While there may have been a select few things that didn’t resonate with me, this book contains so much wisdom that really sticks thanks to Hunter’s writing style. It is hard to find a book these days, especially relating to witchcraft or spirituality, that holds depth and goes beneath the surface.

You can tell when reading this book that Hunter truly does the work and devotes himself to this practice through discipline and hard work. His approaches are well balanced and you can feel the genuine skill and power he holds as you read the book.

This is one of the very few authentic books I have been able to find, especially at this level of depth and knowledge.

Highly recommend to anyone who is looking to practice any form of energy work, whether it be on others or just on yourself as personal development. This book gives you understanding and knowledge as well as a comprehensive toolkit. And it was really digestible, practice and fun to read! 🌟

I've amassed a collection of books that I keep close to my altar for quick referance and this book is one of them. For example, before I hadn't thought much of my birth chart and that Astrology wasn't something I would get too into, but after reading the section on cosmic power I now have an entire section of my grimore devoted to it and answering the questions that Devin put forward in his book. It's an interesting mix of feeling called out but also having some questions answered. I've gotten a bunch of post it notes and marked the exercises and sections that connected the most to me for when I need them like one would a textbook for school. I've been a long time listener of Modern Witch and I'm looking forward to getting more of his books to expand my practice!
