This book is suitable for readers who crave for medical drama though I'd found all those drama a bit 'exhausting' to read =,=

Anyway, I like Dr. Lutfi Fadil's story the best! I'm not sure if it was based on his own real experience or not though. It is about a new medical officer who had been sent off to a rural place somewhere in Kelantan after he had done with his housemanship at Hospital Putrajaya. Huuuge difference there! After a not-so-long period, the place was badly affected by flood. He was working at Klinik Kesihatan when the flood occurred. Imagine you are the only doctor in that place, just finished with the housemanship, out of nowhere, a flock of patients appear in clinics during flood coming with 1001 complains :O From amputating a man's gangrenous finger to emergency delivery of preterm baby while trapped in a place so called island surrounded by murky flood. Learnt something new from his story like aviator's fracture (never heard before haha) and the important of knowing how to calculate the fluid replacement therapy properly =,= this story also talks about humanity irregardless of races and religions. Feel moved by that.

Others: the story that make me cringe is about a pregnant houseman who was in third trimester (?) who Dr. FL tried to portray as a doctor who is a selfless angelic doctor, 'too busy' to have a meal even a grab of sandwich (like seriously babe? When there's a will there's a way haha). She's so busy taking care of her pregnant patients that thinking of eating food at least for the baby's sake seems a big wrong deal. And when she lost her unborn child, the first thing when she woke up from unconsciousness, she asked her husband doctor how her patient doing? I would like to meet this person in real life (if there's any) haha.

DIAgnosis should stop at the first book, and come out with fresher ideas. Overall, I hate the fact that it is blindly bilingual (although I understand our Malaysian social settings very much), I would prefer a story to be written in either fully malay or english (for example dr Lutfi did a great job in his story). Lots of medical jargons and a lot of cliches. But i guess the book was meant to be a tribute for our national unsung heroes, in memory of our worst catastrophe in Kelantan. Except for dr fatin and dr anwar's story which seems to be irrelevant for the theme in the first few pages.

This book is not interesting for me. There is a compilation of short stories, and only a little is interesting.

The short stories written are based on a doctor's experience in dealing with emergency situation, their patients attitude and family stories. But I always love how the authors trying to educate the reader in medical terms they used while telling stories. For me it is nice and I can learn something new even I can't even remember all of it.

Keep going authors!

This book did give me a diverse of feelings, goosebumps, tears, motivations and appreciation for the people surround you. Besides, the stories made me realizes that we belong to the only Almighty Allah. Being a part of medical profession isn't for the pay, not to be higher up in hierarchy than others but it is about our readiness to contribute and help whoever in need. It is about commitment and passion to apply the skills that learnt throughout five to six years of medical school.

I could still recall during the past two years when the filthy flood strike my hometown, Kelantan; the phone line was really bad everytime when I tried to call my mother and my family. Luckily, everything was good as they were not affected much. I was freaking worried when I read many disasterous stories and rumors throughout the social media. All What I thought is that I wanted to go home badly; although it is very impossible.

And, without the stories written by these 14 authors I would never know that there were actually many people sacrificing their personel matters in life and leaving their beloved family just to serve the nation voluntarily. Thank you and may all of you being blessed! *Hats off*

Make sure to prepare lotsa tissues when you want to read this book!

1. Dr Mahyuddin - Lepto
2. Dr. Dhesi - Calamity
3. Dr. Lufti Fadil - Destiny

People in the medical field are among the most important if there is any disaster happen. Diagnosis Apokalips compiled all the story written by doctors who involved in the rescue mission during the flood occur in Malaysia during 2014. Some of the stories are true stories and some are fictions but based on real experience.

Reading this books not only make us appreciate the willingness of all these brave people to leave their home, spouse and kids, sacrificed their time with the family in order to give their help to the flood victim, but give all the reader an awareness that we need to be a volunteer no matter what is our profession. Some of them almost died during the mission, had a restless day and even became sick but it could not stop them to continue until the end.
