I was very curious about this book, as I have followed the author's struggle to write and publish it on her blog. I had no real expectations, but it turns out that it was, indeed, a really good book, and I am glad that she decided to launch it on her own when none of the big companies wanted to.
I love the language and the descriptions of life and nature on a small island on the west coast of Sweden. The people are interesting, and portraited with what I can only describe as warmth. I got caught up in the story and did not really want to put the book down. I like the touch of supernatural, and the many layers to the story, much of it told as much by what is not said as what is actually put into words.
As with all books of this kind, I would've wanted to know a bit more about the killer, what drove them to do what they did and there were a few language mistakes - which I think I only noticed because I knew this is a new author - but all in all I am very impressed, and I look forward to reading more books by her in the future!
I read the book in Swedish. Which for the moment is the only way to read it, I'm afraid.
