Prevarication – Deceitfully Yours, blends a mixture of an awakening of steamy sexual desires with the search for true love. Sub stories within it also provide an element of suspense.
Jessica is a beautiful young Creole nursing student whose life has not been easy. Her mother was murdered when Jessica was very young, and she was bounced between families within the foster care system. Some were pleasant; some were like Hell on Earth, especially since Jessica developed early into a desirable young teen. Finally, at the University of Louisville, she falls in love with Justin, a young man she meets at a party. He fulfills many of her needs, but she realizes she has deeper, kinkier desires in the bedroom – something Justin seems unprepared to offer.
Among the classes she attends is one in pharmacology, taught by a man named Denver. He’s married and has two daughters but he senses Jessica’s desires and soon they begin a sex-based affair. Jessica knows it’s wrong – her heart belongs to Justin – but Denver is an experienced man able to give her what her body craves.
Before the book’s end, there will be a scandalous revelation about the affair that lands on the front page of the newspaper, and another revelation that ties Justin’s mother to the man who killed Jessica’s mother, both threatening to shatter Jessica’s world. Worst of all, one of the men in her life will end up dead.
Monica L. Smith lives a vast contrast in lifestyles. She has been working in the medical field since 1997, first as a Certified Nursing Assistant, then in 2005 as a Medication Aide and, since 2013, as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, where she received her diploma. She then moved to Maricopa, Arizona, with her husband and 2 out of 9 children.
When she isn’t working, she enjoys old-school television shows such as “Perry Mason”, “Matlock”, “Forensic Files”, and more currently, “The First 48.” Her creative side began to emerge when she tried her hand at writing. She published A Softer Side of Me, a book of 10 poems focusing on her “normal” but inspirational life, including her husband, children and career. It spent time as #1 in the poetry genre on Amazon.
But much like her character, there’s another side to Monica L. Smith, who has realized that she has a passion for urban erotic fiction. She enjoys writing what she calls “no-no” sensual sex scenes and while she does explore the dark side, she also firmly believes in writing about finding love, and hopes to inspire women to find their balance between sexuality and true love.
She claims she may not actually do what she writes about, but she feels a connection to it and enjoys the thrill that drives her to see her stories through to their exciting climax and conclusion.
I received this book almost a year ago and somehow over looked it in my reading material, I know, I'm hanging my head. This is the first book from Monica Smith I've read and as I started to write my review found out it was no longer in print, which is a shame. The storyline flowed easily with a plot flowing through with a fast paced action. The characters are completely relatable all flawed from a troubled past. Definitely worth a read if you can find in your library.
That was a third book in a row that I read that contained kinky sex, and I have to admit that ‘Prevarication: Deceitfully Yours’ was my favorite one. The story was refreshing, as it didn’t focus on sex and romance only but also contained many sub stories. The plot was interesting and it was impossible to get bored thanks to the fast-paced action. Actually all of the main characters were haunted by the dark past, about which they’d like to forget. There was an affair, a threesome, an unwanted fame, a trip to Las Vegas and even a crime – all interspersed with love and sex. I undoubtedly recommend this book!
I received an advance reading copy of this book from the author in an exchange for an honest review.
A brilliant exploration of love, deceit, kinky sex and sexual discovery. Monica has opened the book with an excellent orientation that flows into a great plot. The characters are really well developed. The sex is erotic and quite explicit but is not porn. I gave this 5 stars. Definitely want more from Monica.
