God, not again!
This is basically SEP's Ain't she sweet with a bunch of Indian names and poorly written dialogues.
Kindle Unlimited has made me waste so much time on obviously plagiarized books like this 😴

Love surprises us when we least expect it and it has been the most endearing trait of love. This book celebrates love and shares how the path is littered with consequences. With just a ‘good time’ in mind Mahi and Samrat decide to be consenting adults and then love or rather ‘That Same Old Love’ takes control leaving them wanting more, so much more. Such an apt name for the book, reflecting the heart of the story. I enjoyed all the parts of the story – the young love and the angst, the mature, settled love and the hot, passionate love that drove the story.
With the title ‘That Same Old Love’ her book is a dead giveaway for the kind of story we would be reading but the obvious just ends with the title. Yes, Author MV Kasi has penned an unorthodox and sizzling story for her readers. The story of two people who know each other and try to stay away but fate has other plans. This book could just have been another book about a couple with red hot chemistry and a lot of sex but the author has made it an exercise of discovery and loving oneself first in order to embrace love from others.
If someone spews hate at you daily then it becomes your truth if you don’t fight it and the struggle is real for surviving one more day. The author has touched on the topic of marital abuse and the sad plight of so many young girls who go abroad with dreams in their eyes only to be glorified, unpaid maids. Mahi triumphs the odds, alienates herself and yet she shines through.
The secondary characters add the spice, action and depth to the story. Family is a crucial part of the book. The attitude of Mahi’s family and the stand of Samrat’s mother help the love story culminate beautifully. Sidhu and Ananya help the past and present collide as the old grudges resurface. The book had a lot of masala, gossip and “what would people say” moments. Yet, they are well placed and reflect our society.
Is the story of Mahi and she could be anyone of us. The life that we live today, the angst, the loneliness, the issues we face and the story of a woman who chooses to walk alone rather than toe the line is Mahi. I did find that she got a raw deal and a lot of negative in her life as did Samrat a bit much. Sadly real life is such when just a single good break is tough to find. Their mutual sorrow was well written and brought them closer. I especially liked the way the author did not take sides or try compare the sorrow yet it was shared.
Samrat with his looks, presence, kindness and verve, he is the perfect foil to the impulsive, impetuous Mahi. He is sensitive, successful and sexy. Mahi with her motor-mouth and aggression finally finds her match as the sparks fly.
The sizzle content is high, the story fast paced and unputdownable! M V Kasi has penned a perfect picture of our society, double standards and the quest for acceptance, freedom, respect and love.
Pick The Same Old Love to fall in love with Samrat and Mahi as they stand tall and stand strong with love.

A wonderful debut. The plot and the language are simple. The author has developed realistic characters and has touched upon a lot of issues like marital violence, extra marital affair, male child preference, loss of a family member etc.
The author has kept the story moving in the present and interspersed with flashbacks. Though, the story moves back and forth but even once, I did not feel that they were confusing.
I felt that this book could have actually been two books, the prologue to Ananya’s and Sidhu’s marriage as the first book, epilogue, saying 14 years later, Mahi is back. And the second book moves from when Mahi comes back.
All in all a very well written book, unputdownable.
A confession, I started to read it on my desktop at lunch and downloaded the book on my phone so that I could read it on the metro home and not waste a minute. (this is the first book that I have downloaded on my phone).
Looking forward to more from the author, maybe a sequel with Srishti as the lead…..

This is a very poor Indian version/copy of ‘Ain’t she sweet?’ by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. SEP is a very favourite author of mine and Ain’t she sweet is one of the favourites so it wasn’t difficult or hard to see that this book was just copy paste of that with a very minor changes. At least for the first 50%. Because after that it was a mess.
I really wanted to DNF it but I was like let me finish it. So I did. And I wasted my time. First 50% was a copy and last 50% was useless stuff. I hate Samrat. I couldn’t like the adult version of Mahi because of her younger self’s actions. And there were weird dialogue and monologue which were like a tf situation.
“Anger, disgust, protectiveness, love and the strangest of all— jealousy.” This line is in Samrat’s POV when Mahi is telling him how her ex husband abused her. Why was he jealous in this situation? Like he was jealous her ex husband abused her and not him ?!? Why was he jealous ??
“I was with women who were much more skilled and enthusiastic in bed than you,..” This is also said by Samrat to Mahi. This is romantic or reassuring or whatever in good context ?? I’m sure this is what the ladies love to hear from their lovers.
And don’t even let me start on the scene where Mahi goes to Samrat’s village and tries to grovel. The way Samrat behaved, the way he THREW HER STUFF OUT THE WINDOW… I would’ve punched him in his face. Bloody Idiot.

I would go a step further by stating that well-behaved women seldom shocks a reader in remembering her as we remember, even today, Scarlett O' Hara or Moll Flanders. And now for me, Mahi of India's Most Unlikely Bride by M V Kasi.
A former bad girl with a past..."
The above line caught my attention. Will it be wild or sensual? Temperamental or evocative or would it simply be the same old story of a woman fighting off an attractive, chauvinistic and yet completely irresistible male? The blurb will not prepare you for Mahi.
Introducing Mahi...
The prologue introduces Mahi as a bully and a trouble maker. A girl, who has no moral conscience; and is ready to lie just for the thrill of it. Her one lie- changes the course of life for many people and this forms the plot of this novel.
“Let’s see how Tarzan puts that so called brilliant mind to use and get out of this problem, she thought with a smirk, formulating a quick plan.”
Such a breath of fresh air from a damsel in distress.
Badass attitude...
Gone are the days when women were busy in hiding their sensuality. 'Making out' as she did with her ex-boyfriend was a hushed affair. Right now we live in a very extreme culture I suppose. One side “live in relationships” are growing while on the other hand parts of India are still getting more embroiled in the Khaap culture. Mahi represents every woman in India. The abuser and the abused. The complacent and the revolutionary.The story starts with Mahi returning to India after a long gap. She is divorced and single. Her neighbor is none other than her college Samrat Reddy. The man whom she had once falsely accused of cheating and kissing her during her college days. A man who had always lived under the shadow of her false accusations.
“The humiliation and the loss, not just for him, but for his entire family had affected him through the years. Then there was also the matter of other false allegations she threw at him…”
Is Mahi really such a bitch?
The story behind the facade...
Mahi carries many shades of pain on her shoulders. The rejected daughter to the abused wife. And these pains her nothing compared to that she felt after becoming a mother. But the role she revels in is that of being a sensual woman. I found many shades of Scarlett O'Hara in Mahi. Those buried pains covered under a mask of 'devil may care attitude.'
Weaving of stories...
This novel cannot be taken as single read. Multiple POVs showcases the lives of many of those touching the life of Mahi. Even her ex-boyfriend gets a happy ending. This book can be divided into three parts.
1) Mahi and Samrat come together
2)Fifty shades of Mahi
3)Mahi winning back Samrat.
While the first part can be called as a cute love story, the hot scenes in the middle part of the novel will either shock you or send you into raptures. Be ready for some well-written but very sensual scenes. The third part from where Mahi’s journey towards happiness starts is a bit of a cliché. She is angry and then he is angry and then… and throughout this, it is their physical attraction they have for each other that keeps them together. One might find this a bit of a weak conflict to go on.. but for romance lovers, it’s this ultimate thrill that makes us want to be part of this romantic journey.
But the question here is was it needed? For the growth of Mahi, yes. It’s a weapon for her. A facade, which hides her pain. A facade which Samrat shreds to pieces. A facade that becomes her reality. But does it drive the story further? I wouldn’t say that after the first instance, the repeat “performances” were needed. A few of them could have been let go of to make this a much tighter read.
Side characters take a center stage…
Mahi's ex-boyfriend, Sidhu occupies a lot of space in this novel as does Samrat’s sister, Ananya As if the author does not like any loose ends. The best part of the novel was the practicality attached to the attitude of the characters. Love happens. Breakups happen. Live moves on. People grow up and meet other people. And this is exactly what life is all about.
I could connect with Mahi a lot. In her mature 'avatar' she could handle anything. Even a very boorish Samrat. Isn't real life a bit like that too?You make mistakes in your youth. Fun for some, nightmare for others. Yet you grow out to be a good human being. Characters like Mahi are a very welcome change for those who are into heavy literature. This is one book, you can read without analyzing a lot of what ifs and why not's. Again one cannot call this a frivolous read. Certain topics like extra- marital affair to sexuality in marriage have been touched upon.
Samrat, on the other hand, disappointed me a bit. He is very likable till he does not reach his village. Suffering heartbreak is only a woman's prerogative is truly proven here. His throwing off the clothes out of the window really brought him down a bit in my eyes. I just hope he folded them back.
Though the story follows a very steady curve of growth, it hits a lacuna once Samrat and Mahi come on the same page. For those who love hot romances, you will like it but for those who are romantic without the steam, you might skip a few pages here. I didn’t.

The story is about Mahi (Maha Lakshmi Challuri) from Hyderabad. She’s your typical bad girl who’s the bane of a number of people at her college; more so in the case of the brother-sister duo Samrat and Ananya Reddy. Mahi used to be in love with Sidhu, who was equally in love with her. But to everyone’s surprise, Mahi agrees to an arranged marriage set up by her parents and gets married, without even a by-your-leave from Sidhu, and goes to live in the USA.
Fourteen years later, Mahi’s back in Hyderabad, divorced, having purchased her parents’ old house and comes to live in the neighbourhood, across from Samrat Reddy. Sparks fly as the two clash again, and yet again.
THUMBS UP:
I got hooked into the story from the word ‘go’. I so enjoyed the build up of Mahi’s character and even shed a few tears when I read about how she grew up to become what she is.
Samrat’s character – the quiet, intense hero – has also been well penned.
The other characters – Sidhu, Ananya, Shrishti, Rajeev – all had their roles to play and they did very well.
The love scenes between Mahi and Samrat sizzle through the book and have been well written and fit in nicely with the story.
The dialogues were all interesting and I must congratulate the author on coming up with such a lovely story with well-built characters in her very first book.
THUMBS DOWN:
The story could have a done with a couple of less love scenes as after a point, they seemed to take over the novel and were filling up pages unnecessarily.
There was too much of Ananya’s sob story that didn’t go well with the novel that’s supposed to centre on Mahi. A bit less of it would have worked better.
The end came forty pages too late. The reader keeps traversing the waves, going up and down with Mahi’s and Samrat’s life and emotions, eagerly awaiting closure, when yet another issue comes up at that point. This is one too many and takes away from the reader’s interest in the book.
These are the reasons when a tighter editing (and proofing) would have worked for the better.
VERDICT: All that said, The Same Old Love by first time author M.V. Kasi makes for a lovely romance and is a must read for lovers of the genre.

With the title like that this book was hard to pass up when it came up for review.
“Former” bad girl, Mahi, grew up and wants to lead an uncomplicated life – That’s how the story actually begins. Little does she realize that her “bad girl” past would continue to haunt her. Enter Samart, the nerd whose chance at a prestigious American university was ruined by Mahi. They end up being neighbors. One thing leads to another and sparks fly between them. What follows is a racy tale of two people who are polar opposites.
The pacing of the story was fairly stable with enough twists and turns to keep the readers hooked. Nevertheless, these twists were a wee bit predictable. I guess the writer was being brutally honest in naming the book so. It was indeed the same old love story narrated in an interesting manner. The narration was surprisingly perfect for a rookie writer. The characterization was spot on and all the character emoted to dot.
I felt that the writer could have done away with a couple of love scenes which ended up filling pages at one point in the story. I also felt the Ananaya’s story (Samart’s sister) ended up consuming pages without adding much effect to dramatization of story. That part of the story could have used tighter editing. The climax was predictable but was dragged a bit. Again, tighter editing would have resulted in a better reading experience.
MY SAY: Fairly decent read.

The pacing of the story was fairly stable with enough twists and turns to keep the readers hooked. Nevertheless, these twists were a wee bit predictable. I guess the writer was being brutally honest in naming the book so. It was indeed the same old love story narrated in an interesting manner. The narration was surprisingly perfect for a rookie writer. The characterization was spot on and all the character emoted to dot.
I felt that the writer could have done away with a couple of love scenes which ended up filling pages at one point in the story. I also felt the Ananaya’s story (Samart’s sister) ended up consuming pages without adding much effect to dramatization of story. That part of the story could have used tighter editing. The climax was predictable but was dragged a bit. Again, tighter editing would have resulted in a better reading experience.
MY SAY: Fairly decent read.

THAT SAME OLD LOVE BY M.V.KASI is about messed up Mahi and Stubborn headed Samrat .When I started reading the book I felt , oh my god…what kind of person Stubborn Samrat was ,making Mahi feel like old news paper and hitting her verbally at very possible juncture in his life (please do not take in wrong sense ) .
On the other hand, Mahi begging for forgiveness irritated me a lot because “forgiveness should be given whole-hearted and should not be sorted after or begged ” this is my philosophy . Even though Mahi pleaded for forgiveness , but none of them had guts to openly feel or say “Mahi, We forgive you ”.Every one in Ananya circle had shed bullets into Mahi ′s heart even before she could ask them to forgive her for her past action .There no justification in this regard.
It means that fourteen years Ananya and her friends had nurse this grudge against her ,Wow ! I must say.
Over all Mahi and Samrat′s characters and their growing emotions i.e love for each other have been penned beautifully with both having an argumentative tongue ,it’s so cool to read .A classy tale with a lot of drama and wittyness in it .
I wished the author had penned a self worthy Mahi instead of a self pitting Mahi .In some places I find she pitying herself .
The Author through her novel has lashed out all 9 rasas of human behaviour .
A must read book .

I loved how Mahi’s journey has been portrayed, especially her changing relationship with the very people she made life hell for, while she battles her own past, first as the tormentor and then as the tormented. With Mahi’s life and experiences, Manya also, very subtly, tries to bring to light what things like domestic violence, preference to the male child no matter how good the girl is can affect how someone’s personality is shaped. While Manya has kept this very quiet, without being too preachy, I thought a little more attention to these issues would have been good for connecting readers better to Mahi’s character.
The pace of the story is even and the language and vocabulary used is good. Except for a few editing oversights, the book is definitely worth a read. More because it reinstates your belief in the fact that second chances come to those who are determined to make the most of them.

Book Review: That Same Old Love by MV Kasi
It is one yummy, mature, scintillating, humorous, good on Feels department type of book. Read on to know more of what I mean ;)
What I liked: Everything :) Let me explain. Its not just a story full of steamy, adrenaline rush sex scenes or how a bad girl does mean things and the good nerd guy knocks some sense into her. The story is pretty long and steady paced.The book addresses concepts in a balanced way and there are many.

This book has everything!!!
I throughly enjoyed reading the story about the bad girl and her transformation to find what she craved for, love being one of them. I loved Mahi for her strength and no bs attitude. I could not get enough of the girl bonding!! I love the way the characters were portrayed and OMG Samrat is HOT!!! Love him!!

The book got me interested from the beginning and I enjoyed the fact that it covered different issues like bullying and domestic violence amongst others. It made the romance more interesting and the reader aware of all these real issues. I enjoyed it very much and I look forward to the other book in the series.

I had more expectations from the sequel but it was a lil disappointment as I didn't feel there was any storyline or development than what was in the original book . Besides the intense relationship between the protagonists and more heat level there wasn't any plot to the sequel. I liked the first book definitely much better than the sequel.

This one could be made into a Bollywood potboiler. It has all the ingredients to become a hit. It has emotions, passion and some action. The book doesn't have an end as the author prepares the reader for a sequel, an art that Kasi seems to have mastered.

Mahi was a mean and badass girl in the past but she had her reasons; not that it justifies how she acted and deliberately hurt many people. But she had come a long way from that, and she had realised her mistakes. She had her share of struggles, heartbreak, hurt, and pain. Mahi has given up on marriage and love. She didn’t need another man in her life to destroy her further. She was finally starting to gain control of her life again.
“I’m really not interested to ever marry again. I love being free as a bird to do what I want, without having anyone breathing down my neck. And I need another man in my life… like I need a bullet to my head.”
Samrat was a successful businessman who loved his family more than anything. He had to go through a lot when his crazy neighbour decided to wreck his life in the past; it almost destroyed his career. He hates her with everything he has. Despite being rich, successful and a family person there was no place for love or marriage again in his life.
“There won’t be another wife for me, hand-picked or otherwise. My wife died five years ago and I promised myself to never marry again.”
When Mahi decides to make a comeback in the same neighbourhood again, the past doesn’t leave her alone. She had to face Samrat, the person who almost lost everything because of her. He hates her and she is willing to apologize to him, but he won’t forgive her easily for what she did to him and his sister. He would never trust her and he would definitely make her life hell. Mahi was in for a challenge when her neighbour also becomes her boss at work and is just finding an opportunity to kick her ass but unfortunately for him, she is not an easy target.
“God! You are the most confusing and temperamental woman I have ever come across.”
Despite their hatred and bickering, there was something undeniable between them. They were both attracted to each other, but there was too much bad blood between them to even accept that fact. Samrat couldn’t reason with the illogical reaction of his body when she is around him.
“Despite all of Mahi’s character defects, he couldn’t help liking her.”
Mahi was not spared with their attraction. She didn’t want any kind of attachment; still, she couldn’t help but get more and more attracted to her enemy boss.

They both were hurt in their past and didn’t needed anything more, especially not love and definitely not with each other.
“Let me ask you something before I kill you,” he growled. “Are you certifiably crazy? Were you in a mental hospital sometime during your lifetime? Because if you were, then maybe I will feel a little guilty of killing a crazy person who was born that way.”
They were the match made in hell, and they knew it. They both always find a way to get on each other’s nerves. But still, there was something inevitable between them.
“My God! Why are you always creeping up on people? Maybe you should invest in some jewelry, some kind of bell around your neck perhaps?”
Samrat was amused. “I’m sure you would like that along with a rope attached.”
What an amazing ride it was. This book took me on an adventurous journey that filled my heart with all sorts of emotions. This story written by MV Kasi had a realistic approach; I loved that about it. Sometimes, life takes us through difficult roads, break our heart, and hurt our soul before leading us to a beautiful destination that can heal everything damage done in the way. The writing was so impeccable and there were so many dialogues that held me captive and became my favourite but I just couldn’t give away all the best aspects of the book, so I tried to control my urge to mention more dialogues than what I already have.
“No matter how old people are, or what background they are, it’s the universal truth that people are curious about what happens in other’s bedrooms.”
I loved all the characters in this book; every character was different and unique and also had their flaws, but their love was always pure. I was delighted by all the aspects of this book especially the bickering. I enjoyed Mahi and Samrat’s bickering and fights and also their uncontrollable lust. I appreciated Mahi’s character the most, she was strong, bold, ambitious, and a passionate girl; I admired her guts till the end of the story. This book is everything anyone can ask for.

Awestruck
I have been reading MV Kasi's books for past couple of months and at the end of this book I was surprised to notice that this was the author's first romance story. Infact I have read The Holiday Affair first and then came to read the story of Srishti's uncle. This book gave more insights about Srishti's parents too. The author has delivered an exemplary story. The story doesn't involve just Samrat and Mani's love story but also touched the story of Sidhu and Anya, parents' of Srishti. Though Srishti's parents were like second lead couple in the story. This book covered every surface of a love story...attraction, fighting it, acting on it, romance, pain and finally togetherness. This story is an example of Giving Chances to the correct Person in your life will always lead to the best thing happening in your life.

Absolutely love this book
I love reading this book. The characters, scenes and the raw emotion is so real.
This one is my to-go book.
The character of Mahi is full of life and bubbling with energy. But then she is into an abusive marriage she isn't herself anymore. She comes back to her hometown to restart her life.
Samrat the hot sexy neighbour to whom Mahi was mean during her college days. They have an amazing chemistry but will this chemistry turn out into something more or end right there is the story all about!!
And i have read it and re-read it and re-read and I love it!

Very Intense one. You have to read it in one go to get teleported to the story. Sometimes you will hate the female protagonists & sometimes you will fell pity for. Fate has been very cruel for her & made her pay for her mistakes which realised as well. Mahi’s mtg with Sidhu was an emotional & touchy one. Its so good to meet your love after so long also.
Its a passionate love story and a typical MV Kasi novel. You will thoroughly enjoy the passionate rift & love between the protagonists. It’s a must read.

I was pleasantly surprised at the complexity of the themes, and how well these were dealt with, with romance as the backdrop.

i enjoyed this story very much; i liked the heroine's humor and her attitude toward what happened to her.
