Constipation has many causes. Most people do not know the exact cause of their constipation and thus have trouble finding lasting relief. Yet there are many natural remedies available that can be tailored to your body’s specific needs.

In this step-by-step guide, Christopher Vasey explains how healthy intestines work and the different forms that constipation can take. He details the 8 main causes of lack of roughage, lack of water, liver dysfunction, constipating foods or medications, weak muscles, imbalances in intestinal flora, stress and anxiety, and nutritional deficiencies. He helps you discover which of the 8 causes underlies your unique case and offers practical advice on how to correct it with natural and non-aggressive methods, such as dietary changes, herbs, and relaxation techniques. For situations when quick relief is necessary, he provides gentle ways to empty the bowels, including natural laxatives and enemas, explaining which to choose for each type of constipation, but also stressing that these are only temporary solutions.

Explaining how constipation can be a symptom of a deeper imbalance, the author explores how treating it properly can restore full function not only to the digestive system but to the liver and kidneys as well. In this practical guide, you will learn how to support the work of your intestines, allowing your body to gradually resume its natural working rhythm.

I saw this book on Net Galley and because I suffered so badly with constipation after coming off painkillers I thought I'd have a read. See if there is anything in here new to me other than what I'd been told by my Doctor.

We all suffer at some stage in our lives.

It was interesting to me that I had three triggers.

Stress
Medication
Not drinking enough water

Stress in my life I can't do much about.
Medication I could.
Drinking more water I've increased.

At the beginning of the book it explains exactly how we are made inside, goes onto tell us how to examine our poohs (excuse me) describing how to have a more effective release of food waste without bulk by pass or tremendous strain and end up with piles!

The importance of knowing solvable fibre to not solvable fibre.

The difference in grains 'in' food as opposed to whole grains and how the help.

It was interesting to me how our plate should be more veg, less carbs and definitely less meat especially red meat.

How long foods take to reach the end of your colon.

If anyone suffers with constipation this is one of the best books I've read.
So much information.

My thanks to the publishers and Net Galley for my copy.

Changed my life !!

The best book I’ve ever read about constipation. This is an Author (versus a typical writer) who can actually explain in simple language and chronological order the biological terms of what is really going on in our digestive systems. I truly changed the way I see constipation. Really help me a lot !! Wondering why this is not a best seller and other not so good are. Thanks

This book, accessible and surprisingly interesting, has all you need to demystify the entire process between the north and south holes. Plus some more. Can't believe I actually read it cover to cover, including the highlighting. Easy to read and easy to review. 5 stars
