Rate this book
Alternate cover edition of ASIN B01DCDCVEO

All four books of The Ending Series together in a single box set!

The Virus spread. Billions died. The Ending began.
Dani and Zoe may have survived the apocalypse, but the Virus changed them.

Making it through the end of the world as they knew it was the easy part; it’s staying alive after the ending that will be the real challenge.

AFTER THE ENDING, book one

A devastating flu pandemic wipes out 90 percent of the human population…but by some miracle, childhood best friends Dani and Zoe survive. Thousands of miles apart, the young women struggle to stay alive, making risky alliances, heartbreaking choices, and more than their share of dangerous enemies. They’re only certain of one thing—they have to find each other. But as Dani and Zoe make their way across the perilous United States, they come to a terrifying realization—the Virus changed everyone, leaving survivors either insane or evolved. Surviving the end of the world as they knew it was the easy part; it’s staying alive after the ending that will be the real challenge.

INTO THE FIRE, book two

The Virus changed them, but that was only the beginning—death…mutation…insanity…corruption…terror—all that remains is hope.

In the wake of destruction left behind by the Virus, it took Dani and Zoe months to find each other. But their reunion was short-lived. Dani has been taken, and though little distance separates them, they might as well be worlds apart.

OUT OF THE ASHES, book three

Hope brought them together, but it's now fear that drives them...and threatens to tear them apart.

Beaten and broken, Dani and Zoe head west, home to Bodega Bay, determined to leave behind the torment and horrors they experienced in Colorado. Along the way, they learn that danger can take many forms--other survivors, their friends, even themselves--and that things are rarely what they seem. Zoe is desperate to become the woman she sees in others' memories, while Dani struggles to conceal damaging secrets, risking losing herself--her humanity--completely.

Together, they must rediscover the true meaning of friendship, love, and trust, and learn just how hard they're willing to fight for what remains of their shattered world. As relationships are put to the test, second chances are given, and new life emerges, death lurks in the most unlikely of places. To survive, Dani and Zoe must accept that sometimes hope alone isn't enough.

BEFORE THE DAWN, book four

A year ago, the Virus killed off most people in the world.

A year ago, strange things started happening to those who survived. Some of them transformed into something dark and sinister, while others evolved, becoming something more, something beyond human.

A year ago, Dani and Zoe were lost. They traversed the country to find one another, losing some of the people dearest to them along the way. They fought for their right to simply live, uncovered long-buried secrets, and discovered irreversible truths. And after everything Dani and Zoe have been through—even with the battle wounds that they bear—they’re still not safe.

It’s time for the struggle to end, for survivors to take back their lives, their families, their safety. It’s time to really begin to live, and to do that, they must wait for the first rays of dawn.

BEFORE THE DAWN concludes the emotionally charged post-apocalyptic series, but there are still more stories from the world of The Ending Series:

Shallow Characters

Could not finish the whole series, the characters were just worried about their love interests. When someone close to your best friends dies, you don’t just email and say ‘OMG I am so sorry!!!!’ Also when the apocalypse is happening you don’t only worry about whether so and so likes you. Basically the apocalypse was secondary to the main characters’ love interests. No depth to the plot or characters.

Well done!

If you love apocalyptic stories, I highly recommend this series. It can be a bit slow at some points (hence the 4 star rating) but overall it's an interesting read. Lots of characters but a good cast of main ones for you to identify with and root for. It's a different mix of action, love stories, dystopian scenery and science. Definitely recommend.

This group of books were total different from any book I have ever read, I have been used to the kind that sort of narrated but this was different the story played out from each of the charities from their view point, I liked the way I got to read the story from different angles but never from above like other books.
Story line was great and I do not want to say too much not into writing spoilers :-) all I can say is take time out and sit and read them all, I know you will cry with them and laugh with them and get as angry as they did along the way :-)

This is a wonderful series written by two great authors! I strongly recommend it, you will be pulled in by not only the 4 main characters, but even the supporting characters! There are also before and after spin-offs to keep an eye out for once you finish the 4 core books! If you like post apocalyptic series, you will want to check this one out!

This series is, well, not to my taste. I tried. I really did. I like Lindsey Pogue's Savage North chronicles and I really like the author herself, but I have tried to read this series three times and I just can't make it through.

I do not enjoy "will they won't they" teenage longing-type books, and this series is chock full of it. It was like young-adult lit except the characters were technically supposed to be adults. Even when I got past (most) of that, I still just wasn't all that interested in what was going on. I saw the betrayal of one character coming a mile away. The naivete was too much to be believed.

It's not that I don't enjoy romance, mind you. I am a huge fan of Sarah Lyons Fleming's books, and they have romance and relationships in them. But they seem more realistically adult to me, and less high school. People actually talk to each other and communicate and have realistic emotions rather than high school drama, where everyone is always blowing up at each other and nobody ever seems to actually talk like grown adults.

Obviously, a lot of people love these books, and they aren't bad books. They're well-written. The world-building is good, the premise is imaginative. They simply aren't to my taste.

I really enjoyed this series. I am a sucker for any good story that includes a pandemic and was very interested to see how this played out. The dynamic between the characters and the conflicts really pulled me in. I also really enjoyed how the stories were told from multiple character's veiw points. The only downside to this is that I wished Jake and Mase's where first person like D's and Zoe's portions.

The one downfall to this story was that there were a lot of moving characters. I was so enthralled and interested to see how the story would play out that, at times, I had a hard time keeping people straight, especially when they would referene them by their first name at one time and then their last name the next time.

As much as I enjoyed the conflict and the suspense to know what was going to come next, I also really enjoyed watching the relationships form and grow and to see how strangers could survive and become a family unit. I loved that even though there were a lot of characters, each character and their Ability, was essential to the dynamic of the family that came to be at the end of the story.

Wow, fiction and reality collide this year. wonderful series.

2020 has probably been one of the roughest years of my life. I lost my father, my business and Almost my home. But the one constant I had were the authors and their stories. I joked with a few friends about how some of these stories hit closer to home. which funnily enough made reality a little bit easier to deal with. enjoying a few hours a day crying and laughing and experiencing the journeys that these authors have created was and has always been a wonderful respite. these two authors just happen to hit a little closer to home for me this year and finding them was a happy accident. I recommend this to most age groups.the little bit of sex in here I feel was tastefully done so maybe more of an adult read but Id have no problem with my teenagers reading them. in fact I recommended it to my niece. And I’m posting a review on here which means a lot because I don’t normally post reviews but I felt that these authors really needed a shout out. Thank you for a place of refuge in a year of extreme trauma.

I read the first book in this series awhile ago. I then found out it was a series and couldn't stop. This is not only a tale about a virus that wipes out most of humanity but also of a true friendship that withstands everything.

Zoe and Dani are best friends but when the world comes to an end they are on opposite coasts of the U.S. As the book synopsis will tell you they will do anything to come back together and fight all sorts of things to keep their little family together.

I really loved this book series. The chracters were well developed and the parallel plot lines of Zoe and Dani work really well together. The fact that the authors chose to use two alternating points of view makes this story. It flows really well, which is a testiment to the authors because not all things work together when you have two minds on the project.

I'll start by saying this is not my usual type of read. I usually stuck with psychological thrillers etc. I bought the first book in the season and then I needed to read the second and on it went. I ended up reading them all , and let me tell you, I laughed, I cried I felt like I was right there with the characters. Once you start reading you won't be able to stop so plan on investing some serious reading time. This book is post apocolypiltic and also contains romance . It's so descriptive I felt like I was watching a movie. Great writing style. I've recommended this series to lots of friends .

Good doesn't even begin to describe it!

I could not put this series down! It has action, adventure, romance, comedy and tragedy all wrapped into one (or four) books. And it's well done. The plot flows nicely and has twists and turns placed so well.
Zoe and Dani's journeys are both beautiful stories of overcoming hardship and heartbreak, learning to survive in a new world, and falling in love. I felt all the emotions and couldn't stop reading because I HAD to know what happened next. I will definitely be in a book funk for a bit after this series because this one will be hard to follow!

Great book

I enjoyed the first book that I had to buy the rest to see how it would ‘end’. What a great read, I was hard to put down but it was a great story: action, drama, mystery, horror, bit of comedy and romance. Reminded me of a epic saga sci-fi move. Some was drawn out but overall a great read. Took me almost 3 weeks to read the set. The books has 2 main characters who have been friends since childhood and goes from when the infection started to the survival of them and their friends and families. Not all the survivors made it through the terrors of crazies, looters and evil villains. But I enjoyed these books, will look for more of their books. Thanks

Creative, Action packed & Superbly written

As written above this book will hold your attention throughout this well written story. Though my usual genre doesn’t include love or romance this book has sufficient creativity and adventure to make it onto my small list of Favourites. A book that you can just put down but compelled to read and read and squeeze every last word, letter, meaning and nuance out of. I’m sure to be reading this book many times over. A definite HIT !!!!!

Best series I've read in a long time!

I can't remember the last time I was so engrossed in a story that I neglected my life. I am a avid reader (3-5 books/wk). I admit I skim through most of them because I get bored. However this series had me holding on to every word till the end. I could not put it down until I found out what happened, why it happened and what was going to happen. Thank you for bringing life back into books and making the 50 boring ones I read worth finding this gem.

Loved!

I did love this series ! The character development was authentic and organic. The story line was really good and I think that it definitely delivered in that aspect. The ONLY reason I gave this series 4 stars is because I felt like the ending was a bit rushed. There was no prologue at the end to tell us how things wrapped up and I don’t expect that the authors are making a sequel. Perhaps they’ll make a novella to show us how things turned out who knows!

The ending series

I just finished reading books 1-4 in this series. I love the series, they are easy to read but hard to put down. I fell in love with the characters, but I was also heartbroken when the book was over. I kept imagining what would happen next and I hope more books are to come. I would definitely love to get this series in paperback or hardcover for my personal library as I'm sure I'll be reading them and recommending them again.

I pick this book up because I’ve been on a kick about the apocalypse. The story follows two best friends who are separated in the beginning and are trying to fight their way to each other.

The blurb really drew me in. Book one was really amazing it kept me hooked but once we got to book 2 and three they just seem kind a like fillers it was kind of all over the place so I skipped to book 4!! The ending was pretty good!!

LOVE this apocalyptic spin!

The Ending series hooked me from the first book and never let me go! The ups and downs Dani, Zoe, and all their companions faced as they looked for each other and discovers twist after twist had me on the edge of my seat! It gave me all of the roller coaster emotions one after another! A new twist on apocalyptic storylines along with more heartwarming, tear jerking rushing to the last page action!!

So the story unfolds

So first I must say I loved this book ! I gave it a 5 star rating even though in the beginning I wasn't sure I could even finish it ! It took me a while to fall in love with the characters and I must say I fell hard !!!! I would find myself wanting to skip paragraphs just so I could know what happens next !

A must read!

This is a great read! The world as we know it has been destroyed! This is a gripping story of people trying to start over after an altered version of the flu has killed most of the human race. This is a gripping story of finding friends, love, capture, escapes, terror, loss and home. The best book I've read this month!

Different take on post apocalyptic world

I really loved this series. I loved that it was a post apocalyptic story but with a different premise than most. There were no zombies but instead crazies. I loved the characters and that they each had their own unique ability. It's definitely a good read.

Easy reading apocalyptic novel

I almost didn’t read this because of some negative reviews. I’m not sure if it’s a YA novel but if you approach it as such you’ll find an entertaining story about the end of the world as we know it. I like the characters and the twist in the story that survivors obtain Abilities.

Nope. Couldn't do it. I think I started book #2 but the two main characters were so annoying and unlikable that I had to stop. They were in their 20s but acted like 15yos and the back and forth between their boyfriends got so boring after a while. Author tried to make plotline complicated but it became too complicated to even understand. I didn't even finish.

Great story

One of the best series of books I have read. Not only was it a great story but was backed by a great supporting cast. I have read my share of apocalyptic books and this one was by far the best. It had suspense, drama, life and death with a love story or two mixed in. I recommend reading this to all that love adventures.

Each character goes through their own problems presented by the apocalypse and handles it in different ways. The books get more complex as the series goes on although the fourth book about the zombies seemed very cliche. The characters are put through many different traumatic events that shape the way they interact with their new world.

Not for me.

Initially this book looked awesome, but for me it got boring very quickly. After about 30% through I just skipped a lot. I actually didn't even bother to read the ending or anything. Feel like I wasted my time.
