My life. Where to start? I’m determined, athletic, stubborn as hell, intelligent and focused on the game. There isn’t a day that goes by that doesn’t include softball, my family and friends.

I have had it all in my 25 years, fame, love, partying, you name it - I have probably experienced it. However, the one thing I wish I never did experience was heartbreak. I was ruined in all ways. Damaged in such a way, where I thought I would never be the same girl I was before.

All until HE showed up in my life, turning everything upside down. Now, I need to decide if I will hit it foul or out of the park.

Who knows what will happen?

All I know, is that this pitch will either make or break me - leaving me completely broken and damaged.

This book pulled me in and kept my attention. I ended up reading it in a day because I just couldn't put it down! This book made me laugh, cry and even get frustrated at times...it was as if I was a part of the story. I love the way I was able to really get lost in this book.

***ARC Provided by the Author for an Honest Review***

Damaged, a debut novel by Kristine Dugger, is one of those sporting novels, but of a different kind.
This particular one revolves around the world of softball and the characters Miranda and Blake, making it a refreshing read from the norm.

I really enjoyed how this book developed as it gave you a true representation of the extent of ‘damage’ that plagued Miranda and her ability to open up as a person. Opening her heart and letting down her guard is something Miranda struggles with and not just slightly, majorly.

What I loved though was the reality of the characters and the way Kristine describes them in her novel. You felt every bit of Blake’s frustration when it comes to Miranda, much to the point where you would just love to whack her across the back of the head to install some sense in her. You also watch as she grows and develops throughout the story, which will give you some sense of joy to watch someone so traumatised by a past relationship finally find true happiness.

The story itself has a steady pace and it develops at a fantastic rate allowing you to not only get to know both Miranda and Blake individually but also as a couple. Watching them stumble and fall over and over again is where the frustration comes in, but it’s worth the wait to see how it ends.

As a debut I thought this was a fantastic book and really do look forward to reading Kristine’s next instalment, from Blake’s point of view. Now that will be interesting!!

Don’t just go by my word, it really is a must read and one that I will definitely recommend.
This is a five star read for me

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review

A 'Sport Romance' is what this debut story is-now I have read other's in this genre, and where they have all been set in a professional manner (i.e-the football player/hockey player etc) I would say that the character's in this book seem to play(softball) as more of a hobby-type capacity-I assume them to be in early twenties age group as all done with college yet this is never disclosed, and for some of the story I felt that both leads (Miranda and Blake) were coming across as immature in their actions to some of the situations-and honestly, this did irritate me whilst reading!

I don't want to go into much detail about the story itself,so not to spoil for anyone reading for the first time, but it is told from Miranda's POV, and I believe the next book is to be from Blake's POV, hopefully will not just be a re-hash this one,but will take their story to beyond the Epilogue -which I did enjoy reading after the angst moments leading up to it.

I'm not sure how many books are planned in this series, but I will be interested to see where the character's go from here on,if more are planned for the future.

Voluntarily leaving a review. I enjoyed this book and the characters. Damaged is a great debut for Kristin Dugger. The humor and emotions throughout the read was fantastic. The best part for me was the conversations that the characters had with each other, some of them were classic moments. Damaged by Kristine Dugger is a great read and I recommend it.

I bought the paperback of this book at a Author event. I read this book in a day. So good! I just loved all the characters in this book. They went through many ups and downs but it was all worth it in the end! I cannot wait to read the second book as well.

While the book wasn't horrible, it wasn't great. The writing was quite choppy so that made it a bit hard to read. It seemed like thoughts or ideas were put down, and it was never developed into a full description. All the characters were very immature in their actions and thought processes. I would expect them to be in high school or early college, and not professional adults. Overall not a terrible book, but one I probably wouldn't recommend to someone over the age of 25.

Hard Read

Ok, for me this was a difficult read. These two characters were the flip floppiest of couples I have ever met. She wants him but she pushes him away. He wants her, but can't wait for her. They gave me a headache. I wanted to bash their heads together and tell them to grow the heck up. I gave three stars as this was the author's first novel so I'm hoping she will get better as her career continues.

Enjoyable

There were times throughout this book that I wanted to slap both of them for being so dang stubborn and just plain out stupid but I quickly got over it and felt for them both.

2.5☆☆

I dont know how I feel about this book.
It was a bit of a rough read for me. The story had some potential but I didn't care for the writing.. there was no flow and these characters whom were in their mid 20s acted more like middle school kids. It just didnt work for me. I felt nothing for these characters

This book was well written and I loved the way the author incorporated one of my favorite sports I played. It brought back the emotions you get from your teammates being there for you. On top of that the story captured my attention from start to finish. Looking forward to more books by Kristine.
