Living in a small village in Lancashire, England, the author has written a number of books based on the tale 'Peter'.
In the 1990s, the author had twenty-one articles published, both nationally and internationally. After gaining an honours degree in Geosciences, doing post-graduate study in Occupational Health and Fitness, and earning a masters degree in Science Communication, he developed an interest for simple communication.
A passion for writing again emerged, and combining various interests in fine art, museum exhibition display, biology, geology, poetry, and the mystical led to the story of Peter: A Darkened Fairytale. The author still retains a childlike vision of the world, which is conveyed throughout his books.
True to the author's words. This book is not for the faint of heart or the lover of sweet elves and delicate fairies. But for those courageous souls who love spine-chilling and hair-raising fright.
I really can't review this book, as it wasn't a book at all.
What it is, is a collection of extremely random thoughts by the Author, which takes up around 50% of the very few pages (around 60) and then a promotion for one of the Author's books; Peter: A Darkened Fairytale.
Whilst I got this free on Kindle, it was and is nothing more than a promotional gimmick, which is fine, as I'm sure that was what it was intended for.
Incidentally, the sample of O'Brien's book, A Darkened Fairytale, was interesting enough to attract me to consider reading some of his series, so in that respect, this effort, probably did its job.
I think the jury is still out on the morality of this type of publication, but in this competitive world, I guess every author's got to do what they go to do. Not for me, I'm afraid.
I was craving a bit of Peter, and here came this, onto my partner's Kindle. Now we're both hooked on William O'Brien's philosophical humor, quiet and thrilling menace, and his genius for saying much in few words. As a long-time Peter fan, I say to thee: start reading. They're short. They'll awake a part of you that may be sleeping, or tickle that part into it laughs aloud if it's awake. Peter: Magical Crank awakens you in a coffin where you can smell the worms and the loam.Life and death enwrap you wile you're below ground. Lovers, and take this passionate journey of the soul and feel what you've never felt above the ground. Does death so near make life so dear? Read William O'Brien's Peter: Magical Crank: (Peter: A Darkened Fairytale, Vol 10) (Volume 10) Kindle Edition by William O'Brien (Author) and find a new fount of power as you try your aristeia on for size.
This is a book of the author's tiny thoughts, which are delightful and meaningful poems that tell a story. The author has a talent of putting down the words that build wonderful images in the mind of readers. Included in this book is the beginning of yet another great story of darkened fairy tales by this author.
