Kingsly didn't believe in love at first sight, but she sure as hell believed in lust at first sight. Clain Drakon was the definition of drenching desire. He fired every emotion she had to life, including her rage. In the mix of her twisted emotions, a constant question plagued her when she was in his presence--was this more than lust? Whatever the answer may be, it was buried under broken promises, ancient lore, and a span of time that would test any heart, no matter how stubborn, deathly, royal, or mysterious it may be.

When a princess from one kingdom and a prince from another are fated to be together what could go wrong?
The Deathly Royal is a stand alone book that takes place in the same world of dragons that Drakon did. It starts several hundred years earlier and is the story of Scarlett’s sister Kingsly. Kingsly was always a willful person. She didn’t believe in soul mates and fought hard to choose her own mate Byron. When Byron is taken away for something having to do with his past, Kingsly makes a pact with a witch to allow her to follow him into the deviant realm without becoming a child. She stows away on the ship of the powerful Dragon Clain Drakon. The second son of the Drakon Clan. Clain has the gift of sight and knows what the future has in store for him and Kingsly. Over the course of a few hundred years their story plays out, but everything isn’t what it seems and the two are constantly at odds with each other.
OMG! Talk about hot! J.M. Cole has done it again. This book gives you a much needed insight into Kingsly’s personality and explains the back story of why she travelled into the deviant realm in the first book. She is a very headstrong girl and won’t listen the any of the advice people give her. She has to find things out the hard way. The problem is, that things aren’t what they seem and nobody is giving her all the information. Clain is just HOT! He knows what the future has in store for him and the ones he loves and good, bad, or ugly, he knows what he has to do. Hopefully things go the way they are supposed to and Kingsly can remember that she once loved him.
This book is a must read! Dragons, hot girls and guys, adventure, drama, what’s not to like? Grab it up!
It's actually a little difficult to write a review for this book. On one hand, I enjoyed how unique the world and characters were. Everyone had a personality, and the concept of the two realms was TOTALLY cool! However, on the other hand, the writing really threw me off. Although the concepts of the dragons/spirits/flesh and the realms were complicated, I found that the way everything was described only further complicated the narrative. There would be pages and pages of description with little to no dialogue, which made me (I'll admit it) zone out while reading. There were also quite a few typos that made me have to re-read sentences to understand what was going on. Overall, if this story can be edited to simplify concepts, fix typos, and maybe throw in a bit of humor(?), I think it could be even more captivating.
The author has the character explain the world she lives in, at the start, plus telling the things she has to put up with being a princess dragon. It just drags on and on. I don't like how she seat up the story. It also felt kind of confusing, the way the information was told. I just felt the story wasn't for me.
