I'm not sure why Sif changed her tune so quickly about Thor but I'm still super interested in this storyline

Thor is brooding over his inability to wield Mjolnir as of yet. In desperation, he journeys to Nornheim to seek the counsel of the Fates. But upon his return, Storm Giants are attacking Asgard and they make away with Sif. How can Thor rescue her if he’s stuck defending Asgard in Odin’s absence?

I’m glad this series has brought the focus back to Thor and less on teen romance. Sure, Thor’s attraction to Sif is part of this story, but its not the main focus here. Much happier to see Thor dealing with typical teen insecurities and wondering how his destiny is to play out. The impatience and impetuousness of teen Thor is pretty fundamental to teens in general, he just has a mystic hammer he’s trying to live up to!

Tocchini’s art has it’s ups and downs this issue. While I generally enjoy him inking himself, there are still instances where the characters are kind of sketchy and seem rushed. Even the Storm Giants aren’t that well formed this issue, and creatures are usually Tocchini’s strong point.

Overall, a good start to the storyline. Should be interesting.

Sif and Balder walk towards the room Mjolnir is kept in discussing Thor's recent depressive state. When they enter Thor has lifted the hammer slightly above its pedestal. They congratulate him but he says he still failed. A thought comes to mind and Thor rushes to the stables and takes a horse to travel to meet the fates. The fates tell him he must face death in order to wield the mighty hammer. Arriving back to Asgard and it is under attack by Storm Giants. As soon as Thor joins the battle the giants are gone. He learns that they have taken Sif and insist on going to rescue her but Odin commands that he stay and watch Asgard. Broken-hearted and angry Thor is able to wield Mjolnir.

He did it. He did it. Oh my god, Thor picked up the hammer! Finally! I'm so very happy with all of this! I mean, I never thought it would happen so soon, but behold! it already has.

I have nothing more to say about this issue, tbh. It was rather disheartening, if I may with nothing going on but Thor waiting -_-

"A man's worth is not judged solely by his actions. You'll find that it's what's in one's heart that truly makes one worthy."
"What then is the worth of a broken heart?"

Oof that was a beauty.

Also i resonated a lot with this line "your battle has ended, it is now time to heal". I mean, outside the war context, its a nice concept, to not live in your head too much and heal.
