Every time I read one of David Simpson’s books I get a headache! If you don’t know this author, then I suggest you find his Post-Human Series and read all five books. This author has a very, very wild imagination focused on how mankind will develop in the future. He’s not shy about revealing some pretty wild ideas in his books.

This book, things are kind of tame at first. A bunch of guys have been running some advanced computer software and hardware companies for quite some time. The guys involved are all genius level or better and very dedicated to their profession. These guys aren’t involved in just the business end of their respective companies, but more into the development and advancement of their software or hardware area.

One company called Promethean is working on advanced software similar to what we are now seeing in virtual reality devices. This company has developed a super, super computer that will interface directly with the human brain and by doing so, enhance the human mind to beyond what it is now. At the same time, their computer construct will become more human-like and also increase it’s understanding of humanity and be able to help humanity further along in it’s development. Wow! What a mouthful! Their super, super computer is name Haalee.

Darius Robotics is the other company who is into development robots. They are automating all sorts of domestic tasks by building humanoid robots that, using MyTeam software, are capable of doing just about anything a human can do or doesn’t want to do.

While both companies have been pretty much open to each other, Promethean has been secretly developing their massive super, super computer and are a few years away from attempting a human to machine interface. Or at least that’s what most of the patterns in the company thought.

Andy Lexus has decided on his own, that the interface is ready and he wants to be the first human to be enhanced. With his two assistants, he hooks himself into Haalee. The results of this attempt does not go well.

Be ready for some very advanced thinking. Still, it’s not all brainiac stuff throughout the story. This is also a thriller with several things happening at the same time. You’ll find out what Haalee really is and whether you think she, it should continue or even if it’s a conscious entity.

I didn’t like the ending. I don’t know if this is the first book of a series or not, but the story didn’t seem to get finished. What everyone seemed to fear isn’t explained completely and it’s definitely not the end of the world at the end of this book. I might read more, then again, I might not. I don’t like headaches!

I'm not sure how David Simpson keeps writing this type of book so well, but he's knocking it out of the park. Dawn of the Singularity is another example of a David Simpson book that drew me in and made me think about the possibilities of mankind's future. This story takes place in the not too distant future where mankind has successfully created a strong artificial intelligence and a metaverse experience where you can have anything and everything you ever wanted. The possibilities for mankind's future are limitless, but one of the A.I.'s creators predicts the end of mankind and sets off a series of events that will split the world in half between those in support of strong A.I. and those against them.

If you've already read any of David Simpson's previous books, this one will not disappoint you. It's more of what David does so well; books about the advancement of mankind from simple humans to post-human levels and the potential consequences of such advancements. If you have not read anything from David before, then what are you waiting for? If you like this type of story, I haven't found anyone that writes it better so far. The story is fluid with great pacing and keeps you hooked until the end. I really enjoyed the characters and could even relate to each of their viewpoints. I'm not sure which role I would play if the events were happening today, but I was able to empathize with each of their sides and even feel a little of what they were feeling in the book. My heart ached along side them, celebrated their victories, and geeked-out over their amazing technological advancements. That's not a reaction I always have with books and it's a testament to the quality of writing in this book.

I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to book 2 in the series. I highly recommend reading it if you're someone who enjoys these types of science fiction stories. The book gave me several moments where I actually had to stop and think about what it would be like to experience those things in the real world today. As our world speeds towards new technological advancements, I'm left wondering how far we will go and should go. Thank you, David, for creating a story that led me to stop and wondering about these things!

This book is just amazing.
David Simpson starts this story with an Apple conferefence-like event, presenting the first conscious A.I. to the world. Just to be destroyed right away.
Well that's just the 2% of the book.
I just couldn't put the book down, the story is full of twists and turns that it's incredible.
There was not a moment where I could rest my eyes.
The plot is so well structured that I discovered the book is made of one turning point after another. The scenes are put together so you cannot lose the thread. The emotions this causes are varied. It's remarkable when an author manages to move the reader's emotions, and this book just did that.
I felt anger, sadness, amazement, joy... Even though, this story is about the threat of crazy A.I.s.
The dialog is not boring, it is well dosed. The description of the real and artificial world are enduring and to the point.
The characters are solid, there may be some small flaws in their development, but I think they are endearing. They are very well grounded that they carry the weight of the plot with ease.
I entitled this review the way I did because the way David Simpson writes makes me read as if I were seeing a movie. His narrative is so fluid that I couldn't believe I was oblivious of the world around me. This is something almost no one can say about many writers these days.
I started following David after reading the Post Human series, and I can say his craft has been improving masterfully. I can't wait for the next installment in the Singularity Saga.
If you haven't read David Simpson yet, this is the best story to start following him.

I expected a book about meta-humans and the future, as this is what I know David Simpson for. I have read his previous books and been completely absorbed by them, so I didn't expect anything less from this, his next series..

A group of business associates working on the next stage of AI human interface present to an audience about their next robotic development. Then something astounding happens, broadcast across Aug-glasses to the populous!

This book was so intriguing to me, it kept me wondering who was going to do what, next. This is a good book for those who like stories about the development of the meta human. It is different in that it describes the conflict behind the evolution of humanity to what we think could be the next level of evolution. This book could help humanity avoid the pitfalls of ego, once we know what they are, in relation to AI-human interfaces!  I thoroughly enjoyed the whole of this book, it didn't give any hint to me of where it was leading me. And the ending left me waiting for the next book. It was a real conundrum! And I can't wait. I shall definitely be recommending this book to my friends. Make sure that you read it, David Simpson is an upcoming author of the genre.  Keep an eye on him and his books!

Most Excellent Reading

Well written fully developed story and characters. Could this be what humanity has to look forward to ? A future where AI is unimaginably smarter and more cunning ? Fore if we create AI in our image it will have all of our many flaws but with infinitely more powers. Technology has far outraged humanities own self awareness to the point where we can not control our own minds so how could we ever control our creations. One only look back to Nobel who invented tnt which was envisioned to have such tremendous destroying power that it would never be used. They said the same about the atom bomb then the thermonuclear device. When will man stop looking for answers outside of his own mind. Quantum Physics has shown us that our universe is observable in that if we peruse our mental powers we can conquer every and all human ills. Of which the main problem of humanity is our inability to sit quietly in a room by ourselves.

Great read

Very interesting storyline. Very good Suspenseful page turning mystery and drama. Good character development. You grow to either like or dislike the characters as you try to decide who to side with. Who’s truth to believe in... There is a delicate balance being maintained here keeping you from veering to deeply in one or the other direction ... Makes you want to see how this story unfolds.

Excellent

Well written and engaging. Great ending. I enjoyed the shifts in perspective as the AI becomes malicious in the eyes of a human, thinking about that from the other perspective was great.

Ready For Book 2

Riveting drama and not impossible premises. I think of this story every time I see an oculus. Hope he’s wrong.

David Simpson is good writer and story teller. Even though some of themes were bit strange I somehow enjoyed the book and I would like to see the sage to continue.

Great book.

It presets the series, I think, of the Post Human novels. This time, obviously, long prior to the century period of the rise of the fantastic nanotechnologies. This time, the awakening, of speak, of the AI. Ha already in particular. Don't really know if it/ she is a bad AI/being. At times she seems to be good, on our side, then at other instances, she seems to have ulterior motives. However, if we connect this book and Haalee to the PostHuman tales, obviously she turns out to be on our side. The human and the American side. This is why the novel I say is great. It poses us to consider many sides of the coin. Although the ubiquitous coin has only two sides, of good and evil, the young and the yang. But isn't that how all things are? The good or evil?

Another author exploring whether post-singularity characters are conscious beings, how they might act / react, how we might act / react, whether they deserve legal protections or are accountable legally for things they "do", and whether they'll be nice to us.

Pretty good attempt at this. I think some of the plot twists & turns seemed merely to extend the length of the story (turning this into a series), and not really needed to make a great book. It is this tendency to put heroes in harms way, then have them escape harms way, over & over, that has me not jumping to read the subsequent book(s).

Maybe later.

Ten+ Stars!

I'm already a huge fan of David Simpson and if my admiration were any greater, I'd probably be some kind of groupie! Eww! (LOL) Beautifully written and professionally edited, this latest novel of Simpson's left me praying Book 2 is almost finished! He stunned the sci-fi world with the Post-Human series and he just keeps on amazing. I'm no true critic, but to me a book is like any other art form: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This book is drop dead gorgeous! READ IT! You'll be happy you did.

Very Nice

David does a good job of dealing with several of the issues that arise when dealing with the initial stages of the singularity. This is a difficult subject, since by definition, it is beyond our ability to comprehend. It takes quite a bit of courage, and a fair amount of philosophy, for an author to take on this subject. However, David does it well and introduces us to a number of compellingly written characters that contribute to what becomes a good story. I'm eagerly awaiting more.

A great new series!

This "edge of the seat" sci-fi action story follows a series of attempts to murder a machine. Not for anything she's done, but for the fear of what she MIGHT do! But when this gal gives as good as she gets , a mysterious player frames her for mass murder!

As with his Transhuman series, David Simpson has taken technological research in the real world and projected it 10-15 years in the future to leave readers wondering what it means to be human.

I can't wait for the sequel!

Just finished Dawn of the Singularity, and I'm already suffering book withdrawal! What a great read! It didn't seem so "techie" that a reader would lose interest, and I honestly don't know when it hooked me and wouldn't let me go until I was finished.

Once again you have written a truly entertaining and spell-binding book! I cannot wait for the next (and the rest) book in the series. I wish it was available right now!

Definitely worth reading!

I was an early beta reader for this book while it was in draft form. I bought the final ebook when it was released and find the very good. The setting is not too far ahead of our current times and everything seems to be reachable. The dialog could flow smoother sometimes but overall everything works fine. The story is influenced by current events and past sci-fi stories in many places. It is a worthy read.

No Surprises

Pretty good story and pace, but 1-dimensional characters detract from the story and its flow. Too many "richest guys in the world" statements.
