As the wild child of the family, Bellani Maxwell isn’t interested in settling down. Between a fledgling party crashing business, teaching self-defense at a martial arts studio, and hitting the bar every night, she has her hands full. She doesn’t need the added responsibility or commitment of a relationship.

Hockey star Cedric Pederson has all the puck bunnies he could ever want, but a chance encounter eighteen months ago leaves him with eyes only for the gorgeous, free-spirited Bella. Too bad she isn’t interested in what Cedric has to offer beyond frequent hookups, and he’s grown tired of their on-again, off-again non-relationship. He wants to be all-in or all-out.

When a brutal attack leaves Bella in need of comfort, protection, and healing, the only person she wants is Cedric. But once she’s living in his condo, Bella is confronted with a decision she’s been avoiding—can she finally commit to Cedric, or will she let him go one last time?

I have to say, I almost did not jump on this blog tour read because it is a 7th in a series. But since a few people urged me to go forth, I went ahead and plunged. I am glad I read the story because I loved it.
This book is well written with the perfect balance of sport, humor, romance, and of course steamy sex!! The story also balanced, very well, anticipation and mystery. It kept me glued to my kindle wondering what would happen next.
Both the MCs and the secondary characters were captivating and well developed as part of the story.
I really enjoyed this and it prompted me to TBR the entire series :)

Bodychecking might be my favorite book in this series by far. You don't have to read the previous books in this series to read this one but it is recommended.

Bellani aka Bella is known for being the wild child of the Maxwell sisters. Bella doesn't commit in relationships she is the love 'em and leave 'em type but her hook ups with hockey star Cedric are hot, but when he starts wanting more she starts to pull away.

Cedric has gotten to know Bella more then just on a hooking up level and he wants to move their relationship from the bedroom to something more but convincing Bella is turning out to be harder then her expected.

Bella goes out one night and doesn't practice what she preaches by being a martial arts instructor and this bad decision changes her life. On the way home she is attacked and if it wasn't for the homeless man who helped her she doesn't know what would have happened to her. Instead of running to her sisters for help she goes to Cedric for support.

When Cedric opens the door to a broken and bruised Bella he can't turn her away. He will do whatever it takes to get the Bella he fell for back but it's going to take a whole lot of time and patience but for being with Bella it's worth it.

Davenport did an excellent job on dealing with the attack issue. I know everyone says "well if this happened to me I would...", but do you really know what you would do? Davenport did that with Bella and I liked the way it was written. Here is a kick ass heroine who is a martial arts instructor and while being attacked she just freezes. It goes to show that something just don't happened as planned or what you trained for.

I liked the bond between Cedric and Bella, while they steamed it up between the sheets they also got to know themselves better and as a couple after the attack. While Bella might have seemed broken at times you can see that Cedric was her rock from the beginning to the very end.

I really enjoyed this story and honestly really like this series. One thing I would have liked to see more of was the hockey but overall I was impressed with how well this story was written and the HEA ending.

You sure don't need to be into hockey to be into this awesome series......author Jami Davenport writes some of the very best sports romances out there.

Here we have book 8 in the Seattle Sockeye Hockey romance series and hot sexy Sockeye forward Cedric Pederson is the focus of this story and the beautiful Maxwell middle sister Bellani. It seems lately Cedric, who is known to be a real ladies man, yet he only has eyes for one certain firey red-head. When Bella has the fright of her life happen in a dark wet alley one night, changing her life forever......the once sassy, tough, Maxwell wild-sister goes running to Cedric for sanctuary and comfort she knows she can find no where else. While the rest of her family wonder what the problem is with Bella, Cedric is struggling with the secret.

This was a scary story of sorts. Witnessing what Bella goes through, yet it actually strengthens her and also helps the relationship she has with Cedric. I loved how these two strong characters triumph in the end and come out of this even better than before. Loved the ending big time too...can't give too much away, so you'll have to read for yourself what a great story of true love and personal struggle.

Disappointing

I have read other books (in this series and outside of it) by this author and have liked them all. This one, however, did not make the grade. I found it one dimensional, and the ‘heroine’ was shallow and selfish. The ‘hero’ was kind of dull-taking all of her immaturity with great patience. I found it rather unrealistic and did not find either of the main characters engaging enough to care about them. I read the entire book, finding relief when it ended. No cliffhanger. But if this had been the first book I had read by this author, I would have avoided her titles going forward.

Hmm liked but...

Enjoy this author and series but really struggled with bellas character. I found her off putting and unlikeable for most of the book. Cedric grew on me but not my favourite book.

Jami Davenport’s Bodychecking is another heartwarming and fabulous addition to the Game On Seattle Series. Twenty-six-year-old Bellani Maxwell and Swedish NHL Star Cedric Pedersen had been friends with benefits; after being attacked Bella runs to Cedric for help. Their connection grows, and Cedrick wants more from their relationship but Bella is not sure she can commit. This contemporary sports romance takes place in Seattle. It is suitable for adult audiences.

I’ve liked Bella since she was introduced in the series. She is the wild and athletic Maxwell sister. Just like her sisters, her parents left her with issues she needs to overcome. She teaches self-defense and after being attacked, she feels like a fraud. Cedric is a great character. He could have any woman he wants with no effort except for Bella. He has some issues of his own, having a lonely childhood. The two characters are a lot alike and complement each other well.

The plot was meaningful and skillfully executed. Bodychecking was believable and ably described. My heart went out to Bella. I can understand why she felt the way she did. She goes through a lot in this story. I love that Cedric was there for her and able to help her emotionally. I love Bella’s dog Rumble. I like how Zeke Wolfe is introduced into this story. I love how Riley helps out Bella. I appreciate how things that happened in the other books interweave with this story. The ending was terrific and felt well resolved. Followers of the Game On Seattle Series will enjoy this book. If you have not read this series and enjoy sports romances, I highly recommend this series and suggest reading them in order to feel fully invested in the characters.

This is a great series, I’ve loved every book so far! This is Bella and Cedric’s story.

Bella is the youngest in her family and a bit of black sheep/wild child. She’s very athletic and teaches self-defense classes to woman which makes her over confident in her capabilities of defending herself if the need were to arise, which it does. Bella makes the crazy decision to walk home alone through a dark alley and is attacked and barely escapes without being raped. She immediately runs into Cedric’s arms. Cedric and Bella have been friends with benefits for some time but Cedric wants more, he wants a relationship but Bella has turned him down each time he’s broached the subject. Now in her time of need Bella seeks out Cedric and agrees to a relationship with him. The only problem is, now that Bella has been attacked she’s become a different person. She’s scared of her own shadow and refuses to leave her house. Will Cedric be able to pull her out of the shell she’s pulled herself in to...?

I love that we get a taste for all the other characters from the first books in this series without it being confusing if this is the first book in the series you’ve picked up. Bella has a lot of sass and I love how she fights to get that back after her attacker takes it away from her. This is a great story and I look forward to reading more from the Game On in Seattle series!

I received an ARC for an honest and unbiased review......

I thoroughly enjoy this series and the related series as well. I like the characters in these books very much. I like the fact that you know so much about them and that they feel like your friends. I always like to read about Bella. She was snarky, she was strong, she didn't put up with anyone's crap.......she was great. Or did she have issues and these were just to cover them up? I loved that Bella just did what she wanted and didn't fall under Izzy's control.

However, because I knew that Bella was a wild child and had always been, I expected a lot more out of the beginning of the book. The beginning kind of dragged for me. I did not feel connected to Bella or Cedric, even though I liked both characters from previous books. I didn't feel that they connected either, even though Cedric thought they would.

UNTIL....and we all know when that was and again when Bella's mom visited her. There were a lot of things happening in the last third of the book along with twists and turns. THAT was when I felt engaged and all I wanted to do was keep reading to see what happened. Before then, not so much.

We all know that there is more to these characters and I know that they will show up in the next book. So on to the baseball team---an the Wolfe (sp?) brothers.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is another great addition to the Seattle Sockeye series - The Maxwell sisters are once again in the fore, both with Issy's wedding to Coop, but most importantly with Bella's story. She is the youngest, and wildest of the girls, and has some very poor opinions of herself, which she glosses over with her party girl behaviour.

One fateful night however has a serious impact on Bella and Cedric, the hockey player who has been chasing her for a while. They try to redefine what they mean to each other, at the same time as Bella tries to recover ... and all without getting proper help. The whole issue is dealt with very carefully by Ms Davenport, and she has written a brilliant character in Cedric. As the story unfolds, the two of them move forward and it would seem that their player days are over.

We get plenty of news about the rest of the team, and the Maxwells, including unexpected news from Fawn. All in all a delicious addition to the series. If you haven't read the others yet, I would recommend that you read them in order - you will not regret it!

*ARC*

This has been a series that has been one that has been a hit or miss for this book whore, some books really impressed me, others fell flat unfortunately. Luckily, even though I can’t scream hit it was close enough to a hit that I can’t say it was a miss. I am a HUGE hockey fan so I want a good hockey romance that balances the sport I love with the romance that I crave and I think, at least for me Bodychecking did just that. I want to say that if you haven’t read the previous books in the series you should be okay that you won’t really be lost, but would say maybe if you do have the time
I would just so you can meet the characters and see the developments leading up to Bodychecking.

Bella and Cedric will have you laughing, getting you hot and bothered one minute and cooled off the next waiting to see what will happen. I love seeing a former ladies man finally want one woman but that woman giving him hell and not just saying oh okay sigh or some crap like that. I loved Bella but I will say I did love Cedric even more.

Fans of this series, or if it is new to you, hockey fans and romance fans alike should make sure to check out Bodychecking I think you will all enjoy it.

In Book 7 of the Game On in Seattle series, Jami Davenport takes us on a ride of heartache, healing and trust!

Bellani Maxwell has always been the wild child of the Maxwell clan. Her sisters are all settled into their futures and she's still partying along from night to night. That all changes after a scary attack that leaves her needing comfort in a whole new way!

Hockey player Cedric Pederson was all about the game and his next hook-up for a long time, but meeting Bella slowly changed him. It was hot and fun on their occasional nights together, but after awhile, he found himself wanting more.
On the night of her attack, it's Cedric's arms she runs to. As he helps her heal and cope with life again, will she decide that she's all in and actually give him the commitment that he wants, or will she leave him hanging while she keeps it casual?

What I love about Jami's books is that they just get better and better. I've been wondering what would come of the wild, free spirt, Bella. She had a rough journey, and she wasn't sure about herself, but Cedric was there when she needed her most.

Dealing with violence in writing is hard, and I think she approached it very well. There are a million and one ways that one will react, and I feel like this shows one very realistic way that someone might handle it.

I love how Jami keeps us up to date in the lives of all the past characters, and weaves together the world which you can tell she's truly passionate about.

Cute

Liked the story. But I really didn’t like Bella for most of the story and the previous books. Mostly because she knew Cedric wanted more from her and an exclusive relationship but she strung him along. Because he took whatever he could get. I don’t like that. Then when everything went tits up and she needed a support system she turned to him and hid in his apartment. Not saying he did the wrong thing by being there but come on he was always the one there for her and never the other way around. Glad she made some character assessments and changed. And then worked on herself.

I can't say enough how much I love Jami Davenport's books. I had the opportunity to read her latest, Bodychecking, as an ARC.

Jami's has written another best seller. Cedric and Bella's story is another real life situation many face. This book is so well written and brings the issue to the forefront of your mind at the same time you're escaping real life and become part of the story.

The horn-dog hockey player mixes it up with his female counterpart. Buy the book and follow along with the Sockeyes. You'll fall in love with Cedric just as Bella and I did.

Love it!

Wow, this book was amazing! Bellani and Cedric finally get together and we get a glimpse of the third Wolfe brother. I was initially concerned about the attack part of it didn't bother me. How Bellani rises from the ashes of her assault to be a stronger, better person is incredibly empowering. This book really does standalone even though it's part of a series. All you learn is previous couples are still together, which is assumed because all these books are HEA books. Highly recommend this series, especially this book!

This series is truly amazing!
Since the first time they met Cedric and Bella have had a on again/off again thing and Cedric wants more!
When Bella is attacked on her twenty-sixth birthday she runs to Cedric for help and comfort instead of her sisters.
Cedric doesn't know what to do about Bella's situation except be patient and cherish her but he has to leave on road trips and the attacker is still out there......

Bella has always been the wild child, Cedric has always been the athlete with women falling over themselves to be one of his "puck bunnies. When Bella faces a crisis in her life, all of a sudden things change. Ms. Davenport addresses something that all women fear, being attacked, and addresses it with compassion and insight. Throughout the book both characters are forced to face their fears, hopes and dreams in response to this attack. Fast moving and thoughtful, well worth the read.

I couldn’t finish this book let alone get through the first few chapters. The heroine is too stupid to live. You are assaulted and instead of going to the police you go to your no strings lover because you couldn’t remember where the police station was. The heroine is nothing but a crude child and the hero is petulant child with a crush. And it mentions that she is defense instructor. I doubt a martial artist instructor would choose the darkest alley.

Jumping back over to the Seattle Sockeyes series I've been really looking forward to Cedric Pederson, hockey star and consummate manwhore, and Bellani Maxwell, the outrageous and free spirited Maxwell sister. These two never want to settle down until Cedric realizes that he no longer wants to live a playboy life and that he wants only Bellani.

Bellani, never one to be tied down, has always been confident and strong until one night, she's taken by surprise and attacked. Even though she has been teaching self-defense and how to stay safe, she realizes that she never takes her own advise and put herself in a dangerous situation. Beaten and terrified, lucky to escape her attacker she makes it to Cedric's place where only with him does she feel safe. Forcing him to keep her secret she refuses to tell her family and wants to heal herself. Cedric, falling in love with her want nothing but to protect her and finds that she has become more important to him than his love of the game.

This is the strongest story of this series so far. Bellani having to fight back to regain her confidence and love of life, to learn to love herself and allow herself to feel worth of Cedric's love. This is a great story of fighting victimhood.

Definitely a GoodRead.

Seattle Sockeyes book 4

Bellani Maxwell is known as the wild child of the 4 sisters. She and her sister have a party crashing business where she met Pro Hockey star Cedric Pederson at a Seattle Sockeye team party. They hit it off. Cedric has no problems finding women, but he likes Bella and would like a relationship but she didn't want anything exclusive and laughed at him. They hook up now and then and that's ok with her but now he's tired of that and wants more.
Bella teaches martial arts and self-defense classes and is over confident and careless about her safety. One night walking through an area she shouldn't have been in, she's brutally attacked. She turns to Cedric for help. He is more than willing to comfort and protect her while she is healing and wants to be so much more. Bella is scared, she won't talk to her sisters and hides out in Cedric's condo for fear this guy will find her.
Can Bella get through the healing process and will she find happiness with Cedric or go back to her old ways?

This story deals with a brutal attack and learning to handle the fear that comes with this.

I've read others by Jami Davenport and I'm always surprised how well the characters fit together even though they don't seem to at first. There was some tough subject matter here, she covered it with a lot of heart. Cedric and Bella have an undeniable chemistry (as evidenced by their many booty call/hookups), but neither of them is looking for forever until Bella calls Cedric in a moment of need and he steps up to the challenge and follows through. I love all the emotional ups and downs in this book and it made me want to read all the others in the series (some of them for the 2nd time). This is a standalone, but there are characters from the series in this book (and from other series) that you'll run into as well. HEA and a lot of relationship issue resolution.

GreatnSports Romance

Jami Davenport's Seattle Sockeyes series is great! This book looks at the last sister, Bella, and her part in the Party Crashers. She is so confident, she ignores safety and is attacked. This story shows how love and a good support system can help to heal, as well as seeking counselling is not weak. As a Seattle dweller too, I have avoided her book on the school shooting as it happened at my school, but I will read all others. I bet Jami is so excited that professional hockey is coming to Seattle and they almost called the team the Sockeyes. Long live the Kracken!

TW: Assault, attempted rape.

This was a better than average book, but it gets only a 3 star from me because it just felt so forced. The MC is pretty much in stalker mode when the book begins...and this just is a problem for me.

I feel like Bella was portrayed quite well. As a survivor of assault/rape, she is believable in how she reacts. Cedric should feel honored that Bella trusted him that much after the assault. Trusting men, after, is a hard thing to do for many survivors.

I L O V E me a smitten hero - and obviously that was the case here with the hero in pursuit.

but ... no.

It was just too much. I can't remember how far I got - the library loan expired - I wasn't entirely sure on the premise already but ...
I remember DNFing it pretty early on and then actively forgetting it. :|

Also the whole party crasher business. 😒

Another Maxwell

Sister falls in love. Bella & Cedric have been on again and off again since they met. She went out to celebrate her 26 birthday and ended up getting attacked. She went to the one person who she could trust, Cedric. Can he bring her back to herself, but they do admit they love each other.
