Anthologies are always a mixed bag or good and bad for me and this one was no different. There are some really sweet, sexy, funny stories in here and it's well worth a read in between longer books.
Mother’s Day is the 8th, and sixteen Paranormal Romance/Suspense authors got together to write Shifters in the Spring, bringing together stories of babies, frisky shifters, and fertile surprises. Another eight got together to write What to Expect When You’re Expecting A Shifter. Things like, 5 Ways to Keep Your Baby Wolf Shifter from Biting People and Other Valuables (Prepare for extreme teething!), Top Ten Do’s and Don’ts for New Dragon Moms (Doing your research now will save you a world of headaches down the road, not to mention renovation costs and many arguments with insurance adjusters. And, A good sprinkler system is a must.), and of course, The Survival Guide for Wolf Shifter Fathers-To-Be: How to Treat Your Mate We She’s Expecting (Snacks are vital to your existence! And remember fathers, (the cubs) practice hunting while in there, which involves lunging and snapping. Pregnant female shifters report it feels like Jaws is attacking them from the inside.) I laughed through What to Expect until tears ran. The stories in Shifters in the Spring are drawn from various Paranormal series, some, such as Jacqueline Sweet’s Bearfield series (don’t mess with pregnant Mina, she will Kick. Your. Ass.), J.K. Harper’s Black Mesa Wolves series, and the Swipe Left series by Ariana Hawkes I have read works by. Others, such as Elianne Adams and Cynthia Fox I hadn’t read before. Not all of them were to my taste, but most were good reads I very much enjoyed. Never having had kids, I couldn’t really identify with the trials and tribulations, especially when it comes to being a single mother of a shifter kid (No Eating The Neighbor Kid!) but I have to say, I totally enjoyed these kick-ass women as they dealt with kids and mates, kids and potential mates, and years of being single moms without any help in raising dragons, wolves and bears (Oh My!). On another note, I watched a CBS News Sunday Morning which showed two “big brave men” (Ha!) undergoing a labor pain simulator. It. Is. HYSTERICAL! Here is a clip from YouTube and dailymail.co.uk.
Get the books. Read them. Then don’t forget to thank your mother for everything she went through to push you out into the world. After seeing this, don’t you think she deserves a cruise?
I generally rate collections like this pretty high because of the low cost of so many stories and the good usually outweighs the bad. Unfortunately for this collection, the opposite is true. There were a few decent stories, but there were too many bad ones. I’ve rated each individual story below.
Stripe for Love - 2 stars. Lackluster is the best way to describe this story. There is a shocking lack of details about the story and the characters. There is absolutely no passion between the two MCs. All in all, a rather boring read. What a bad start to the collection.
Leopard Print Love - 3.5 stars. Definitely a different premise for a story; however, the author needs to learn about proper paragraph structure when characters are talking. Besides seemingly run on monologues, there weren’t always quotations to let the reader know who was talking or what was going on during the conversation. Really annoying at times and brought the rating down. Otherwise a decent story.
Baby for the Bear - 4 stars. A nice story, but the love didn't come with the MCs getting to know each other; it came either out of nowhere or from lust alone. The big bad seemed forced and unnecessary, and the resolution seemed to come too easily. Otherwise, a nice enough short story.
The Bearfield Baby Heist – 4 stars. Slightly weird, but enjoyable all the same.
Kissed by the Cowbear - 5 stars. Short and sweet, but adorable all the same.
Protector Wolf - 2 stars. Blah. First the author takes forever with the MCs (and their wolves) constant inner thoughts and feelings about mating. So you spend most of the book rolling your eyes wanting things to get on already!! And then the ending happens in 2 seconds with absolutely no discussion on why the H changes his mind. What a bloody disappointment.
His Secret Dragon - 3 stars. This story had a lot of potential, but fell flat. So much drama, but ridiculous in its extremity and almost blasé in its resolution. The H was a dick, and there was almost no discussion or repercussions to it, which made the ending totally disappointing.
Baby Mine - 4 stars. Angsty, but believable. There seems to be an awful lot of backstory for a novella, but I didn't feel too lost.
Daddy Bear - 1 star. Awful, absolutely awful. I had to force myself to finish. The h is the definition of TSTL. Who crashes their car, and their first reaction when they come to is: you must be a kidnapper and rapist, I better hit you? She wouldn't shut up, and even with a physical attraction, there is no way the H would want her. Making out at stupid times. An attack that has no explanation, and then a huge revelation that's totally glossed over. Yeah no. And to top it all off, it's not even a complete story, just the first part. Fuck no. I only give this 1 star because I finished it.
The Alpha's Curse - 4 stars. A little mystery, but ultimately satisfying. No romance, so that could make it up.
Impawsible Dream - 4 stars. Love the older MCs. The story was sweet, although the ending felt a bit rushed.
The Panther's Baby - 2.5 stars. Great start with passion and a hot one night stand. There was some tension, but then nothing but sex! No discussions about love, desire, or a burning need to be with each other. The story brings the MCs to a point where they might talk these things out, then bam! Jumps to the future and skips love, marriage, baby, and getting to know one another. Totally killed the story for me.
Something Weasel This Way Comes - 4 stars. I loved Sally and Nickolai. My only beef is I wanted more in the epilogue. But the story overall was still great.
The Alpha Warlock's Redemption - 3.5 stars. Very enjoyable, but lacking in detail, especially when Zara and Silas meet again.
Forces of Nature - 5 stars. Wonderful. There was something in this story for everyone. I loved Wren and how strong she is. Alder was great as well.
Shiftr: Swipe Left for Love - Ryzard - 4 stars. Satisfying, but an undercurrent of ... immaturity keeps it from being great.

This review is only for J.K. Harper Protector Wolf
I found this to be a real sweet story both Jace and Caitlin have their own emotional baggage that they're dealing with. I like the fact that Jace keep saying he wasn't ready for a mate and family but he took to the role so well. Overall this was a real good read. After reading this story I will be definitely checking out the other stories in this bundle I'm always looking forward to check out new authors.
This is only a partial review since this is the second story I read in this box set this review is for Ariana Hawkes SHIFTR
This is a great series. I really enjoyed reading this story. I love second chances of love stories and Ryzard story didn't disappoint. Ryzard life has been nothing but chaos with drunken night and one night stands one night 2 yrs ago change Ryzard life for good making him realize that he really needs to get his act together. This is a awesome series you won't regret reading it. I receive this book in exchange for an honest review.
ANYA NOWLAN - STRIPE FOR LOVE - LAYLA A good short and sweet enjoyable read. Didn't really go anywhere with a background story. Part of a series but not one I am familiar with. Layla and Atlas have a one night hook up. Go their different ways. Layla tries to find him when she realises she is pregnant with no luck. Atlas knows he has lost his mate and is kicking himself for not knowing at the time. Nasty brother brings them together again for his own purposes. An enjoyable read. J M KLAIRE - LEOPARD PRINT LOVE An interesting story that was condensed to fit the time frame but worked quite well. Not like the typical shifter stories I have read but I did enjoy it, being stranded on a desert island was very different and worked well. OLIVIA ARRAN - BABY FOR THE BEAR Sam and her son Cory turn up at Tyler's farm to answer a job advert for a farm hand. What Sam didn't know was the ad was for a wife and that Tyler is a bear shifter. Poor Tyler was sick of being alone and had advertised for a wife. Imagine his surprise when his mate shows up, she is human and knows nothing about shifters. Cory was a bonus. What a nice story. Flowed well with a little bit of drama but no angst. JACQUELINE SWEET - THE BEARFIELD BABY HEIST I have read the 1st book in this series where Mina and Matt meet and this is a follow on where Mina is just about ready to give birth. I found this story of the Cuckoo interesting and it really freaked me out, was not quite sure what the history behind of it was. Obviously a baby snatcher based on the cuckoos trick of placing its own young with others. Very good idea in a book. Just a few answers I would have liked. Why was Pete involved???? Money? Who was Vera and what was she in it for??? I need to know these things. Loved how tough Mina still is and how she protected herself. Matt was still just as lovely. Nice to see the others we have read about. Enjoyable book with a very weird baddie that made me go all kill him for goodness sake. LIV BRYWOOD - KISSED BY THE COWBEAR Based in the Curvy Bear Ranch series. I have only read the first book in that series and did not like the hero very much. In this book time has moved on and the ranch now does campouts for children to let parents have a break. Enter Jessica a single bear shifter mum with a 5 year old son. Her ex-husband is in jail for embezzlement. Then we meet Clint, a bear shifter single father of a five year old girl whose wife died of breast cancer. They meet, their bears recognise each other as mates but both are wary for different reasons. A lovely tale of second chance love, once Clint gets his act together. Very enjoyable. J K HARPER - PROTECTOR WOLF Haven’t read a Black Mesa Wolf book for years, bought Guardian Wolf a long time ago. They just seemed to not be written for a while. I will be looking into catching up with them. A good story but just did not understand Jace’s reluctance to claim his mate, it was not the fact she has two cubs as he adores them. We learnt a lot about Jace’s history and understood him but Caitlyn and her cubs background is never really explained, the cubs father is never explained. I came away feeling like I had missed out on something, not sure if there is more information in the series. Caitlyn is Kieran’s sister after all so there may be more in his story about her. Book had a few editing mistakes and Jace was called Jay at one point. Other than these points a good read. ELIANNE ADAMS - HIS SECRET DRAGON This book starts off intense and keeps you hooked right to the end. Poor Meadow, I wanted to cry for her, abused by unloving parents her whole life. Having to fight off a forced mating in front of most of the village, ignored and left to be raped by another villager whilst no one stood to help or support her, not even her best friend or her parents. Then she is saved by her Alpha’s brother (he is an Alpha of another clan) who is visiting. He tells her they are mates and mates her but not fully so they are not officially mates. He will not take her back to his clan as he has traitors to deal with and believes Meadow will not be safe. Instead Meadow is left unclaimed, pregnant, ignored for months with not even a goodbye or a message via his brother who is Meadow's Alpha. When Meadow things enough time has gone by she goes to see her mate. She is not acknowledged by her mate in front of his clan when she went to see him and even worse had another woman laying claim to him which he did nothing about in front of her. I know the story said he was going to have to break her heart to keep her safe and would apologize later, but HE NEVER APOLOGISES. Kade did not deserve her, he was an idiot. Why do men think women cannot look after themselves, as long as they are told the truth then they can protect themselves. Meadow had already proven she could look after herself as she had survived her childhood and proved it again by helping Wilson. Watching out for a traitor or two would not have phased her. Meadow is right to trust no one but herself. I did not like the ending where Meadow just accepted all this rotten treatment as the traitor had been sorted out and then just wants to have sex with Kade, not expecting an apology, grovelling, nothing from him. Just sex and a mating bite. Really, where is her self worth, she became a doormat in 5 seconds flat. Kade will never treat her as an equal. Loved this book up until then. Just some sincere grovelling would have made all the difference for me. Quick error pickup. Rory was a green dragon then he was a gold. ELLIS LEIGH - BABY MINE I have not read any of this series but I enjoyed this book very much. This is obviously a follow up from a longer book but it is still understandable as this short story. Liked the flow of the story and the dynamics between the couple. I enjoyed this authors work enough to join her mailing list and book 1 in this series is free so will be reading that. EDITH HAWKES - DADDY BEAR Didn't like Abby at the start, she came across as ungrateful, selfish and slightly psychotic. Not because she was a runaway bride but in her reactions. You don’t act like that when you have been in an accident and someone helps you until you know the facts of your situation. Overreacting to everything without asking or talking first. The author gets around this by saying Abby has an overactive imagination. Hitting and biting someone is more than an overactive imagination. Theo’s story was extremely sad but there was so little background in this story I didn’t connect with him at all which is a pity. I would have loved to know so much more about him and his cubs. When some of the baddies who are after Theo’s twins turn up at the cabin, Theo has to shift to his bear to fight them and Abby sort of sees/guesses. She has also seen the twins in both cub and human form so is getting her head around it. Theo tells her about his recent past and that he is a bear shifter and so are the twins. Abby just decides to go with Theo as her gut is telling her to. Okay I can live with that, but what about her job, family etc. Is she just going to disappear and they never know what happens to her? I would have really loved this story with some more information about everything going on. There is no background explanation of why THEY are after the twins, who THEY are and where are Abby and Theo going to go now and how are they going to live. A pity because this could have been such a good story. UNLESS there will be a follow up book. Must find out as I need to know these things, email to the author coming up. SCARLETT GROVE - THE ALPHAS CURSE I have read most of Ms Grove’s books. This is something very different in a good way. Spiritual and a strong belief in fate doing what is best. I loved Avery and her thought process and beliefs. She was a bit hippyish and out there but that was fine, it worked for her and I loved her approach to life and what she wanted to accomplish. Didn’t really get to know Lucian and it never said how long Lucian had been living under the curse. Instant lust and sex between Avery and Lucian, but I thought the forgiveness of his dad was too easy. Why did his dad curse his own son just because he wouldn’t do what his dad wanted? Boy I have 5 kids and I could be cursing them every day if that was the case. To me this story could have been more but saying that I did enjoy the total difference that this book gave. I really liked the premise of this story but thought it was just a bit too woo woo for some. CLAIRE RYANN - IMPAWSIBLE DREAM A slightly different themed story with an older woman as the heroine. Well written and interesting. Enjoyed the ride along with Jen and Geordan. Part of a series which I plan to look into. ALYSE ZAFTIG - THE PANTHERS BABY Not really a lot to say about this one. One night stand, lots of sex, a bit of a kidnapping, disagreement about getting married then it’s resolved. I just didn’t care about these two people, they never engaged me in their lives, I learnt nothing about them. A pity because the storyline could have been so much more with just some in depth background and more talking between Javier and Martine rather than just sex every time they were together. CYNTHIA FOX - SOMETHING WEASEL I read a very short story by this author in Shifters in the Snow which I also liked. What an entertaining book. Really giggled a few times. Loved all the characters. I will be looking into her books. AURIELLA SKYE - THE ALPHA WARLOCKS REDEMPTION This was an enjoyable read if this is your thing. Not quite my cup of tea. I did not really care for the storyline and once again things just happened without any talking taking place. I mean no discussion of why Zara left when she was pregnant. How did Baxter get her mother killed? I think I did not understand some of the background as this is part of a series??? Why are the council getting away with killing people? There must be a higher power ruling them all than some local power hungry idiots. What happened to Mason? GEN GERICAULT - FORCES OF NATURE What an interesting story. I was riveted. Couldn’t put this story down. I just loved the interaction between Alder and Alden (father and son) it was beautiful. Wren was fantastic and I just loved her. She was just everything and more. Then Alder had to become an idiot male and not listen to his mate when she had genuine concerns. She was a witch after all and knew things his alpha male brain didn’t. Have never heard of this author but I am definitely a fan now. Hope we get a story for Ash. ARIANA HAWKES – HOPE VALLEY DATING APP - RYZARD Another good book in the Hope Valley Dating App. Can be read without having read the others in this series. Ryzard is a trucker who had a rough start in life and is letting it rule his life now. Too much drinking and one night stands have led him nowhere. He actually has met his mate but doesn’t remember her but his bear does and is getting more uncontrollable. Marilyn was in a very bad place when she met Ryzard and had a drunken one night stand with him. Now she has two shifter cubs and has moved to Hope Valley so they can be raised near shifters. Two years after their night together he is made to sign up on the dating app and his mate is on there too but he doesn’t remember her. Big Oops. I really liked Marilyn, she was a take no prisoners’ woman. Ryzard had hit bottom and took a really good look at his life after seeing Marilyn again. Not even knowing about his cubs he turns things around to prove he is good enough for his mate. I loved his interaction with the boys and how he really came good after such a horrible start to his life. The only thing that I think needed to be addresses was his relationship with the clan. It was not sorted at the end of the book, was he in trouble or not.
This is my honest review of this box set. Thanks to Scarlett Grove and J K Harper.
Matt and Mina Morrissey are preparing for their baby this morning Mina is having a hard time she is due in a couple of weeks and the baby starts moving around it is like she is magical and Mina becomes so strong that she is destroying her kitchen and Saturday her kitchen assistant has to make her go home even though she doesn't want to she walks home and Matt is still in the bed but once she gets settled and takes a nap he gets up he needs some bear time and he gets dressed and goes outside but decides to shift into his bear but he cannot he can't understand and he runs to the cafe where is brother the alpha Marcus is having breakfast and reading his morning paper Marcus is definitely not a man of many works so when Matt gets his attention he tells him what is going on and he tells him that he can't smell anything he can hardly hear and having a problem seeing his breathing his to fast his brother pulls him close and touches his forehead with his own and makes him calm down and tells him that his bare is with the baby while the nosy waitress is listening to their conversation after bringing Matt his pie she pulls a chair up and tells Matt that she has never seen it but has heard about how the bear leaves the father and protects the baby and the mother Marcus tells him his bear will come back Matt is find once he hears and tells Marcus that he is going to meet Mina and the Midwife Joannie, when he gets to the office the midwife is pacing in front of the office Matt asks where Mina is and Joannie tells him that she doesn't know where Mina is and he ask if she can find her but Joannie says that she cannot find Mina anywhere in Bearfield so they go to the house and the door is wide open a window is broken there is power in the walk way and inside the house he calls his brothers Michael and Allison are on the way Marcus has some business that he has to take care of when his brother and sister in-law arrive he tells them that Mina is missing Allison is a plant specialist and she is familiar with the power and the plants and she tells him that the power will put shifters to sleep and the plant will make it impossible for a shifter to see someone if they are holding it so she tested the theory with her husband and called him he came running when he heard her voice but he didn't see her they realized that is how they got Mina. Michael tells them that Parsnips scent is who he picked on but shifts into his bear and then he catches Mina's scent and they all hop in the jeep and leave Bearfield and get on the highway. Also The Impawsible Dream is another short and well written story that will keep you entertained through the end of the story. I recommend this book. I received a copy for an honest review.
Shiftr: Swipe Left for Love (Ryzard) by Ariana Hawkes:
I received this for a honest review. I have so enjoyed this series. Don’t worry if yo have not read any of the other books because it can be read as a standalone.
Ryzard had made a mistake 2 years ago. One that changed him more then he really knew. This has caused him to avoid women and getting drunk. Now his clan want him to get on the dating app and find a mate. A mate is the last thing he wants but his friends are not having none of it.
Marilyn’s life had changed 2 years ago. Now here she is a single mother raising two shifter boys and knows nothing about shifters. Searching out Tamika hearing she had a shifter wolf mate she hoped that she could get some information to help prepare her for what is to come with her boys.
Ryzard is not going to have it easy winning his mate. She is very angry at him. He will doing anything to win her, even if that is taking it slow. If you know anything about this series you know that it is going to be a HEA.
The Alpha’s Curse by Scarlett Grove:
This is such an awesome story.
Avery Miller had a dream. She has went to school and got a degree in agriculture. She longed one day to own her own farm. So when her grandmother had left her an inheritance she jumped on a chance to buy herself a farm.
She had been putting a lot of work on the farm to get it up and running. She truly had a love and passion for it. She had started having dreams of her dream man. It was not long before she started coming obsessed with this wolf that she kept seeing close to her farm.
I am surprised she was not more stunned to meet a shapeshifter. I love the fact there was chemistry already there because she was his true mate. Lucien knew off the bat that she was his. He was finally happy to finally of found her. Lucien has some secrets and keeps disappearing. Avery does not know what is going on and Lucien does not seem welling to give up the answers.
Avery and Lucien have something in common. They both have an unsupportive family. I think this is one thing that helps them bond.
This was truly a great story and glad I got a chance to read.
Shifters in the Spring boxed set I really enjoy some babies thrown into my romance reads sometimes so this boxed set caught my eye. Boxed sets are always a great way to meet new authors and this is no exception. The first story by Anya Nowlan: Stripe for Love: You've seen and even read stories about shifter dating matches, so had Layla. When she went to work for one she had no idea just how far she'd have to go—how about another world! Yep. Her boss is called to a shifter planet where the King hates to admit he needs some help finding a mate—and NOW! Since he is the King, she goes—but don't think this feisty lady is going to make it easy on the Autocratic male. She takes Layla along for the ride and what a ride it is. When Layla meets him, unaware of his status she isn't taking his STUFF anymore than Jeri her boss, except she doesn't have anything to hold over him. Still, he kind of likes the mouthy curvy female. In fact he likes her a lot! Enjoy this fun read and join me looking for more from this author.
Cursed by the Alpha by Scarlett Grove Avery is living her dream, thanks to a small inheritance from her grandmother. Her family would never have helped. She is a strong woman starting a natural farm by herself. She's not afraid of hard work and is amazing. The long days must have something to do with dreams she having of a man with startling blue eyes who makes her yearn for him. Deciding a day off is what she needs she heads into the forest to collect some herbs and relax. But she isn't alone. A huge gray wolf watches her. She should be more afraid but for some reason she isn't. As the story moves along the wolf is more but the man he becomes doesn't stay, he keeps leaving with no explanation. She should resent him but there is something about him. You will enjoy finding out about the Alpha's Curse—you may not appreciate him always, I sure didn't until I found the truth. Another good read by Ms. Grove.
Don't miss this new set with new authors and old friends all new stand alone stories. I was provided and ARC for an honest review.
Can I just say, I couldn't wait for this book to come out in kindle format so I purchased the paperback. I so love this book. I love the authors. The authors I read on a daily had books I desperately needed because they are series I can't live without. I'm so glad Anya made another Shifter Grove story. Atlas was hot as all outdoors. The way he responded when the mate he let go came back into his life was explosive. He made sure she wasn't leaving ever again. Atta boy! Adriana left me with no choice but to get this book to read Ryzard's story. I tried looking for it but it's only in this book. I love the backstory of his past and the way he went about to prove to his mate to give him a second chance. Wow! That was a good book to be the last story. Marilyn proved she was a spitfire but she had to be to raise twin boys for almost two years. What am I saying. All these mate's were on top of their games raising their kids as single moms until their mate's found out. Now, that darn Ellis, she knows the Feral Breed are my favorites. I so love Scarlet's feisty firery attitude. Nothing was keeping her away from her mate. This is one fire element witch you did not want to keep her red thread from. Shaw or should we say Doc, or wolf's or here tiger...I would have called him a different pet name but Amazon might block me. I love his devotion to his mate. Sorry Teri but the way he took down Bez was hot. Had my panties wet. I've read several more books but I need to finish the book. I didn't want to forget what I was thinking. I so love this book. If I didn't have kids this book with all the hot steamy scenes would have me taking advantage of my husband. But hey, I could always get a sitter and get us a room. Hmmm...sounds like a plan brewing
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!! *** Received the ebook in exchange for an honest review
****PARTIAL REVIEW****
At this time, I have only read Protector Wolf by J.K. Harper which is a story in this set.
This set is not yet out, but I will be purchasing it at the end of the month to read all of the stories.
J.K. Harper has created a fabulous story in the Protector Wolf. This story is Jace and Caitlin’s story. You do not have to read this series in order to enjoy the story, but I’m sure if you do that the characters will be richer especially when referencing previous characters like Claire and her mate Kieran as well as their Alpha.
I really like everything I’ve read in this series, and I will continue to collect them and read them.
I highly recommend this set to all the shifter fans because I’ve read several of these authors previously and they never disappoint shifter fans!
- Stripe for Love by Anya Nowlan Layla meets Atlas on a stop to a new life in Seattle. Layla believes this is a one night stand, something she has never done but cannot stop herself with Atlas. She did not expect the surprise he left her nor the inability to find him again. Atlas regrets letting Layla go after that night and his searching for her come up empty.
A full ride of love, loss, and grief. Atlas is in Shifter Grove to start a new life and be away from his overbearing family. Layla and Atlas must take chances on each other.
- Leopard Print Love by J.M. Klaire When their plane goes down in the middle of paradise, Callie, a jaded woman who's decided that she doesn't need anyone for anything, finds herself relying on Wade, a leopard shifter, more and more. Will trusting a man again, in life and in love, come back to literally bite her in the neck?
Callie is deeply hurt after being cheated on and left by a man she thought cared for her. She is on her way to her friends wedding on an island. Her only way there is on a small plane with Wade. He is hesitant to tell her what her knows and what he really is because of her anger when they first meet. Loved this story!
- Baby for the Bear by Olivia Arran Tyler is feeling the loneliness of the years without a mate. He cannot believe in a fated mate, especially after waiting all these years. He places an add for a mate and it is answered by all the wrong kinds of women. He wants a real partner, even if there is no love between them. He removes everything personal from the add and gets one answer. Sam needs a new start, far away from the city and her ex. She finds and answers an add for a farm hand. She does not inform her employer she is also bringing her young son with her.
I loved the misunderstanding of the add by Sam. She's not even a shifter nor is she looking for any romantic relationship. She feels an attraction to Tyler, and him to her, but she fights it because of her previous pain and mistrust. Tyler will do what it takes to convince Sam she belongs with him, even letting her believe he is hiring her as a farmhand. A wonderful story with a cute baby.
- The Bearfield Baby Heist by Jacqueline Sweet Mina is nine months pregnant with her and Matt's bear shifter child. Unfortunately, the baby's shifter powers overwhelm her at odd times. Matt leaves Mina at the house to connect with his bear and Mina goes missing. As in, no one can detect her nor who took her. Mina wakes to strange things happening and a strange creature trying to take her unborn cub.
Wow. Tons of action, strange creatures, and predictions of the future. Matt and Mina are a wonderful couple and Mike and Allison have wonderful news. They just need to rescue Mina, the unborn cub, and live through the battle.
- Kissed by the Cowbear by Liv Brywood Jessica needs a long deserved break from the demands of being a single parent and the Curvy Bear Ranch is just the place. She is on site relaxing while the ranch takes out the youngsters in a well supervised adventure. Jessica is facing major decisions because of the stigma left by her ex husband embezzling and now in jail. Clint's wife died of cancer several years ago and left him raising their daughter alone. He is looking for a break as well as a way for his daughter to socialize more with children her age. Neither one are looking for anything, much less a relationship.
A sweet story of two people stuck for several years in the mourning process. Both need a kick out of the rut they are in and both deserve happiness. They must decide if they are willing to step beyond their comfort zones.
-Protector Wolf by J.K. Harper (Black Mesa Wolves) Jace has returned to the pack he was raised in after tragedy struck his family. He left an angry teenager and returned a warrior. He is ready to take his rightful place as Guardian but not expecting to meet his mate almost immediately. Caitlin has been raising her twin pups by herself and is neither interested nor looking for a mate. They both find it difficult to fight the growing attraction between them.
Jace has not had the easiest life and was very disturbed and aloof from the pain caused. After years of training and discovering who he is and what he is capable of makes him believe he is ready to return and prove who he is to his pack. He is definitely not ready for a mate who already has two pups, pups he has no idea what to do with. Caitlin sees him hesitating and thinks he does not care for her and her twins. A wonderful story with two strong people coming together. Can be read as a standalone story.
- His Secret Dragon by Elianne Adams Meadow has been sorely mistreated by her parents and her clan. They want her mated, especially as it's her dragon's third heat. Her Alpha is no where to be found. Her choices are to be raped in private or in public, but she chooses death. Kade is having internal strife in his clan and travels to his brother, the Alpha of a nearby clan. Both are trying to avoid all out clan wars. In his flight he happens upon a male dragon killing a female dragon.
Meadow is such a strong character, fighting against friends and family for what she knows is right. She is confused by Kade and his behavior, especially because he offers no real explanations. Her state of mind is further confused by her physical state and she moves to do what is best for her.
- Baby Mine by Ellis Leigh A short story in the Feral Breed Motorcycle Club series. Shadow and Scarlett are settling in after the battle and several of the couples are expecting children. Something is off with Shadow but he will not tell Scarlett what it is. Shadow is called away again but takes Scarlett with him. Bez and Dante want nothing to do with Scarlett, nor any other witch for that matter. She cannot understand why, when her and her sisters helped them win the day.
Bez and Dante are very prejudiced against all witches and barely tolerate Scarlett. Shadow is set on keeping his promise to Scarlett, even if she cannot remember having him make the promise. A wonderful couple.
- Daddy Bear by Edith Hawkes Abby has discovered a secret about her fiance. Well, ex fiance since she just left him at the alter. She is running away and has no plan or idea where she is going. Driving into the oncoming snowstorm may not be a good idea either. Theo's plan is to stay one step ahead and keep them safe. He does not plan on meeting or rescuing a beautiful bride.
There is a part 2 not available yet. An interesting story of a first meeting of two people running from different things. Theo is also hiding his true nature and is attempting to hid his attraction to Abby.
- The Alpha's Curse by Scarlett Grove Avery has always dreamed of owning and running her own farm, even with the censure of her parents and her brother. The farm and land are beautiful but seem to hold a secret. She dreams of a wonderful man and feels a connection to him. There is also a strange wolf lurking near her.
Avery is strong and determined. Both for herself and her land. She feels a deep connection with Lucien but nothing seems clear with him, except his presence on the night of the full moon.
- The Impawsible Dream by Claire Ryann Geordin has been a wolf shifter for too many years. He spent over the last 200 years mostly in his wolf form, but something is pulling his human self away from the pack. Jen has been traveling the country on her Harley for the last two years after she was left by the man she lived with for 19 years. Something about Silver Peak calls to her and the people make her feel more than welcome.
I love Jen. She is older and looking to do something for herself after too many wasted years on a man unable to commit to her. Geordin doesn't understand his need to wander until he arrives in Silver Peak and sees Jen.
- The Panther's Baby by Alyse Zaftig Martina meets Javier at a masquerade ball held by her friends Devanta and Guillermo. Neither reveal their true identities during the night of passion and Martina leaves before Javier wakes. He tries to find her but the trail ends. Both reflect on that hot night as one to never forgot. Three months later Martina must find Javier. He is very demanding and Martina will have no one telling what she will do.
Martina and Javier are both very attracted to each other, but Martina is embarrassed by her actions and leaves in the morning before they can talk. Martina is her own person and will not be trampled because he demands it. I love their chemistry.
- Something Weasel This Way Comes by Cynthia Fox Linden is back in Mistletoe Hollow with new bodyguards, Nikolai and Fedor, to purchase all of the town, again. This smelly, weasel shifter believes Nikolai and Fedor will be the edge he needs to make everyone sell, as they as very large, Russian bear shifters. Linden also has his eye set on Sally, who is very not interested. Linden is not only smelly, he is despicable. Sally is a single mother whose daughter is now in college. She would like to date again, but the jokers in town do not make it easy.
Nikolai is wonderful and his attraction to Sally a bonus. Sally is concerned how much Nikolai is helping Linden force out the residents. A fun read.
- The Alpha Warlock's Redemption by Silas is part warlock and part wolf shifter, fighting against the deadly prejudiced warlocks determined to kill all half breeds. Zara is a witch certified in practical medicine to augment her powers. Her mentor sends her to help Silas transition being blind. Silas and his wolf want Zara, but misunderstandings get in the way.
A great story. I love the interconnecting incidents between the killers, Zara, and Silas. Zara is strong, but quick to jump to conclusions without talking with Silas. I love the chemistry and the second chance they get.
- Forces of Nature by Gen Gericailt Alder is the Alpha of his small pack, but when he believes he dreams of where to find the monster who killed his father he sets out to destroy him on his own. It is finally time for his vengeance. Wren is a witch, whose father was a wolf, and does not agree with what the coven is doing to shifters. She knows more is going on than what they are showing and she tries to hide in plain site from them. Then her beloved walks in to her bar and things get worse.
Wren is strong and her words leave a lasting impression on Alder and how he grows as an Alpha. Their story is fraught with battles, pain, and mutual misunderstandings. Both of them make assumptions and they are the one hurt more because of it.
- Shiftr: Swipe Left for Love - Ryzard by Ariana Hawkes Ryzard is one of five bear shifters left unmated. Ryzard is a truck driver on the road most of the time. He spends his nights with different women and tons of booze, a legacy of pain left by his father. He tries to change, especially after he shifts in front of a women. The other single men force him to open a Shiftr account, as directed by the Alpha.
Ryzard is floating through life with no direction. He does manage to cause many problems for himself and other shifters. He needs a goal and someone to live better for. A wonderful story of a man wanting change, but not knowing how. He has great friends to assist him.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
While the entire anthology could have done with a good final proof-read, it wasn't the worst editing I've read and there were even some sweet stories in there--hence the four stars. Many of the stories are by the same authors in the Shifters in the Snow anthology so I recognized many of the fic-verses and characters. A big difference is that I actually liked most of these stories to some degree. One nit I would like to pick with almost all of the stories so that I don't keep repeating myself with each review: Writers, please learn the difference between smut and erotica--one resembles badly written 'letters to penthouse' (for those of you old enough to get that reference) and the other is erotic LITERATURE (emphasis on the literature); one is crass, tacky and tasteless and the other is sensuous and sexy. I may joke about reading 'smut'--but I actually enjoy reading well-written erotica.
1. Stripe for Love by Anya Nowlan. Aside from the beginning and the end it was a pretty cute story. Skip the first chapter unless you want the full porn experience--you won't lose anything of the story by not reading the first chapter and there's a second sex scene--actually closer to being erotica than the first one anyway. The interactions between Layla and Atlas, especially as he meets Adrian were just cute-like a piece of candy, just a bite-size bit of sweetness. The situation between Atlas and his brother felt like it was inserted to create some drama for the story--it failed. There was no real build-up--allusions to someone watching with sinister intent doesn't magically create drama. The conflict was one whole scene--they talked, they fought, end of conflict. The setting for the story, Shifter Grove, seemed like a good setting for stories and the characters I met in this story do hold potential.
2. Leopard Pint Love by J.M. Klaire. I'd give it one star mostly because the heroine in this story is downright un-likeable. There's a great deal of story dedicated to how horrible 'little viruses' (children) are and how marriage is a joke--it's a rather long diatribe that even the character acknowledges how insane her outburst sounded. I get that the author was establishing a character aspect, but five Kindle pages of diatribe on the subject was overkill. It read more like the author wanted to vent and was just using a character in a story to say what she wanted to--I don't read these stories for social commentary and I'm pretty sure I'm in a majority on that. They spend most of the story on a deserted island (months and months). The end is blessedly quick, but inane.
3. Baby for the Bear by Olivia Arran. This was cute and if not for the WTF ending, I'd have given it five stars. I'd go with a four. The idea of a shifter who eschews the whole 'true mate' concept and places an advertisement for a mate was novel. I liked the characters and the misunderstanding between Sam and Tyler about the ad was humorous. The interactions between Tyler and Cory were adorable. The only thing I didn't like was the ending--there was no plausible explanation for
4. The Bearfield Baby Heist. A good, sweet story; there's some cute humor some actual plot/drama with the kidnapping and search for Mina. It could have done with better editing, at one point Mina pipes into a conversation when she's not even physically there (the wrong woman's name is attributed to the piece of dialogue).
5. Kissed by the Cowbear by Liv Brywood. The set-up is great--a divorced mom of a young son and a widower with a daughter about the same age meet at a ranch where their kids are signed up for a shifter-children camping trip. I liked the interactions between each of the parents and their children. Unfortunately, the rest of the story gets mired in inner dialogue. If not for the scenes with the kids, I'd have given it one star.
6. Protector Wolf by J.K. Harper. Solid, decent short story. The kids were cute and I liked the pacing of how Jace went from not wanting anything to do with kids to enjoying their company and slowing growing into his role. One of the best stories of the bunch.
7. His Secret Dragon by Elianne Adams. I enjoy the stories by Elianne Adams--I've even purchased stories from her series because of short stories I've read in other anthologies. This was a decent addition to that universe. A lot of trouble would have been avoided with a simple conversation between the two main characters at the beginning, so the plot was a bit thin but the characters are interesting.
8. Baby Mine by Ellis Leigh. A story from a series I've read--the Feral Breed, so it was nice to see the characters again. This one really just seemed to meander around showing characters from the series but not really going anywhere. There really weren't babies in it in a major way until the very last chapter--just a meh for me.
9. Daddy Bear by Edith Hawkes. This one is a perfect example of why first person narrative is the lazy writer's crutch for story writing. It can be done well, it just wasn't done well here. I was left feeling like I was only getting half the story--I didn't understand why she was running away from her wedding until like halfway through the story and then we find out she's just a drama queen (serious overreaction --cancel the wedding, understandable; run like her life depended on it, melodrama much?) She's also a witch with a capital B. The H wasn't much better, he's on the run from someone to protect his twin babies for some reason (there's no explanation given other than the fact that ). Very little romance and the babies spent virtually the entire story sleeping.
10. The Alpha's Curse by Scarlett Grove. Unless you're interested in a tediously detailed description of organic farming--skip to the last couple of chapters. Very, very, very boring set-up and when it did finally get to the point, it wasn't worth it.
11. Impawsible Dream by Claire Ryann. Cute story, nothing great but a quick, enjoyable read--more romance than anything baby but fine.
12. The Panther's Baby by Alyse Zaftig. Yet another 'let's have sex with someone who's name we don't know.' Smut scenes were exceptionally bad porn--there's a way to write Dominance that's sexy--this isn't it, he just comes across as an *ss. This porn goes on for the first FIVE chapters. Then, after what was supposedly the best sex ever, she deliberately hides from him afterward for no apparent reason until she pees on a stick and finds out she's pregnant. The H is unlikeable throughout, although he does soften up a bit at the end, it still doesn't rate as romance. The story is just him making autocratic demands, her running away, getting into trouble and needing him to rescue her. It just generally wasn't a story I enjoyed.
13. Something Weasel This Way Comes by Cynthia Fox. Another solid, cute story. I enjoyed the interactions between Sally and Nikolai. The ending seemed a bit immature and silly and Savannah's reaction to Nikolai at the end was also fairly immature for an adult woman.
14. The Alpha Warlock's Redemption by Auriella Skye. An interesting set-up and good introduction to the author's series. Decent story, no real problems with it.
15. Forces of Nature by Gen Gericault. The second half of the story is quite interesting. Getting there was mind-numbingly boring. The beginning of the book slowly sets up interesting characters in a decent story which comes to a grinding halt at chapter 6. Chapter 6 is nothing but an entire chapter of scenes from the H's life over the course of four years where he doesn't remember the h. That's right, an entire chapter of scenes of him not remembering her. Considering the life she lived in that time, it would have been more interesting to have seen scenes from her life instead. The story gets back on track around Chapter 8 and finishes well so I'd give this a good three and half stars.
16. Shiftr: Swipe Left for Love-Ryzard by Ariana Hawkes. Cute concept--guy messages a woman on a dating site only to discover that . The first scene between the H and h was cute but the rest of the story was just stupid.

*A complimentary copy was given in exchange for an honest review*
Anthology about all kinds of shapeshifters. The theme? Secret baby. Not always a good one, but we'll see.
Anya Nowlan, Stripe for Love - 3 stars. Pretty good. One night stand with a man while on a road trip back home. Pregnancy ensues. Now, how to find him to let him know he's a father. Dad is a Siberian Tiger with family issues. I hate it when a shapeshifter shifts back fully dressed.
J.M. Klaire, Leopard Print Love - 4 stars. Shifter is a leopard, who's also a pilot. Girl is a bridesmaid for her friend who is getting married on an island. Plane crash on a deserted island. I like that they takes 3 weeks to get to know each other before having sex. Story is rushed & the heroine is kind of bitchy at the beginning, but I liked it anyway.
Olivia Arran, Baby For The Bear - 4 stars. Predictable, but I liked it. Bear shifter hero puts in an ad for a shifter wife. He gets a human who thinks he needs help on his farm. Turns out she's his true mate! She also has a crazy ex. You can tell the author is a Brit.
Jacqueline Sweet, The Bearfield Baby Heist - 3 stars. This is a goofy one. Bear shifter's pregnant mate is kidnapped by a creepy bird spirit thing. Part of an established series.
Liv Brywood, Kissed By The Cowbear -4 stars. We're back at Curvybear Ranch! The guys & gals have decided to have a week long camp for young bear shifters. Their parents can then relax & in Clint & Jessica's case can hook up. Of course, they find out they're true mates & complications arise.
J.K. Harper, Protector Wolf - 2 stars. Wolf shifters, female has twins. Not feeling it. A lot of redundant information, then, wham it all ends. Sex scenes sucked.
Elianne Adams, His Secret Dragon - 4 stars. Dragon shifters. This one was pretty good. Moved quick, but that's how short stories are.
Ellis Leigh, Baby Mine - 3 reluctant stars. The hero is half wolf, half tiger shifter. His mate is a witch. She wants a baby, he acts like he doesn't. BIG MISUNDERSTANDING is eventually resolved with communication. This is part of an established series I'm not familiar with. It's well written & I was able to follow along, but there's a lot of back story we're just supposed to know. not interested in finding out.
Edith Hawkes, Daddy Bear - 3 stars. bear shifter. Kind of goofy & unrealistic, but it was ok.
Scarlett Grove, The Alpha's Curse - 3 stars. Cursed wolf shifter. Hard to rate this. It wasn't really well written, but it was also an interesting story.
Claire Ryann, Impawsible Dream - 5 stars! Terrific story with a mature wolf shifter finding his mate.
Cynthia Fox, Something Weasel This Way Comes - 5 stars. Besides the weasel, there's bear & fox shifters. I am loving this story! Nicolai rocks!
Auriella Skye, The Alpha Warlock's Redemption - 2 stars. Geez, what a downer. Took forever to get through. Part of an established series. Not for me!
Gen Gericault, Forces Of Nature - 5 stars. Red neck wolf shifters, witches & vampires. Kick ass story & the best in this anthology. GG is a fabulous author.
Ariana Hawkes, Shiftr : Swipe Left For Love - 3 stars. OK, but not great.
So, there are some decent stories in here, as well as a couple of turkeys. I'm dismayed at how all the stories don't use protection (hence, secret baby!). There's never any discussion on sexual history either. Not very responsible. Anyway, I did enjoy most of the stories. If you like shapeshifter romance, give it a try!

Harper Genre: #Paranormal #WolfShifter My Score: 5 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆ I really enjoyed this book it was great because it gave you a sence of the life in the den, that is a family, the togetherness, fighting, the love. Ms. Harper hits it right on the nail, she write a fantastic story. Jace Canagan is a wolf shifter who lived with the Black Mesa Pack. But because of a devastating experience, Jace had a very troubled angry past. Taking years of wondering and his mentor Jace is back to be a Guardian for the Black Mesa Wolf Pack. While teaching some of his moves , Jace was literally bit on top of the Mating bug. Caitlin Rendall is a techno geek she-wolf visiting her brothers pack and fixing there computers. Kinda like a vacation for her and the adorable twins. Never would she have believed she'd find her ■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■ Title: Baby Mine A Feral Breed Short Story Author: Ellis Leigh Genre: #WolfShifters #TigerShifters #Witch My Score: 5 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆ Oh my God I cannot believe this book it is phenomenal I can't tell you enough how good this book is. All I know is I hope that Ms. Leigh keeps continuing with Feral Breed, why I know and read a series that's on #48, I think could make double that. Yep, I'm an addicted enthusiastic Feral Breed Man's Women. Scarlett is a powerful Witch in fact the triplets were all Witches, but sadly Amber died. Scarlett was helping Beast's mate Calla just had a baby and Scarlett wanted baby time the smell and cooing yes she wanted it all. So what a surprise her mate for some reason he didn't want to have sex... Three days in a row!WHY? Shadow is a Tiger Shifter and the doctor he's so very tired after delivering Calla's baby but his wife had other idea's..God help him he did too. Only problem was his new motto "Must Resist" ■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□ Title: Baby for the Bear Author: Olivia Arran Genre: #Paranormal #BearShifters My Score: 4 Stars ☆☆☆☆ What a cute little story I really enjoyed it in fact I was laughing at some of the things he thinks. The characters in this book match exactly together, they are so funny. Yes, I sure would recommend this book it's a breath of fresh air. The author makes you want to not put it down but read it all way to the end, it is a short story Tyler Blackcliff is a Bear Shifter and owns a farm with several acres, still with all the work he does he's alone just himself his brothers are wondering the world. He's craving having children and a wife, he gave up trying to meet his Mate, so he put an ad in the paper. You would think that would be easy enough right but it wasn't nobody that answered the ad were right. So he put another ad in his singing he wanted a wife but at the end he said shifter so that they knew he was a shifter. Sam Aspin needed this job, desperately with her small son who was 3 years old who bonded with this huge wolfhound. Her ex was making all sorts of threats about her son, so she left she figured he wouldn't follow her way out to the farm. Then she found out he wanted a wife she wasn't ready no, Sam wanted just to take care of her son and dog. ■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□ Title: The Bear field Bay Heist Author: Jacqueline Sweet Genre: #PNR #BearShifters My Score: 5 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆ I have to say this was the cutest little book, plus a little different with the other Bear Shifters I've read. There are some lines in this book that I couldn't stop laughing. Ms. Sweet sweetened up the book many time. Mina Brooks owns a bakery, she was always a great baker in San Francisco but here in Bearfield everyone was so friendly they all loved her. Being 9 mos pregnant with her WereBear Mate (Husband) is hard on any human, even harder when the baby steals all daddies magical powers. More important there hasn't been a shifter born in a generation so this little fur bundle of joy is very special. So special Mina is kidnapped, will she survive? Matt Morrissey is Mina's Mate, he has two brothers, Marcus the Alpha with jaw dropping power, is always so grouchy like he got out of wrong side of bed every day, always cranky. Micheal was Matt's little brother, the screw up until he met his mate that is, now he's growing up. Hopefully the brothers will find Mina in time. ■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■ Title: Ryzard: Shiftr: Swipe Left for Love Destination: Book 9, Author: Ariana Hawkes Genre:#PNR #BabyBearShifters #BearShifters My Score: 4 Stars ☆☆☆☆ This one was a little different from the other books in the series. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed reading Ryzard (BTW...love the name). The characters were funny and fit right in the story line. I really enjoyed this anthology. Someone sent it to me as a gift and, I'm embarrassed to say, it took me.... let's just say a long time to read it. However, once I started reading it a few days ago, I couldn't stop. Now, while I can't honestly say that I loved all of the stories, I can say that there were only two or three that weren't for me. The others were so good that I have marked the other in those series as TBR on my list. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of the authors better. Well done to the authors.
This was a cool compilation with different approaches towards shifters and other supernatural beings. I enjoyed reading it.
And while not all stories and writing styles met my taste, I'd give the following stories 5 stars: *Protector Wolf *very cute* *The Alpha's Curse *reminded me of a fairy tale such as The Seven Ravens* *Something Weasel This Way Comes *an especially fun read* *The Alpha Warlocks' Redemption *unexpected* *Forces of Nature *suspense-packed and very cute*

OVERPRICED I like reading these types of books but this one was a disappointment and in actual fact I only enjoyed one of the stories and that was the first I gave up on the others trying to find another I would like more in this compilation and having spent £14.99 just for one story in many that lasted 30 pages at most I think this is overpriced and not worth it…
