4 Bounding Stars
We met Hunter at the end of "Her Cyborg." Nellie C. Lind is a new author for me and I am really enjoying her cyborg series. Hunter's bounded Sarah was killed twenty years ago and he went crazy and almost died. He becomes one of the fighters but after so many years he is captured by MedAct. Dr. Silva is trying to save the fighters. Hunter is reunited with a friend from the past he knew as a child but Avril is all grown up and is trying desperately to save the cyborg she had a girlhood crush on. Can she survive?
I really like this series. This is a free read if you sign up for the authors news letter. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

This book comes after Book 1 and tells the story of one of Nightmare’s captured Fighters, named Hunter. MedAct has captured several Fighters, cyborgs whose mate has died and they survived the bond breaking but with some severe damage. MedAct maintains that they must initiate a new bond with another woman to become functional again. Otherwise, the constant pain and demands of the bond within them would drive them insane.
Avril has loved Hunter since she was 12 years old. He and his bound one, Sarah, had been open and caring with Avril when her own family ignored her. Hunter always listened to her and valued her friendship. And because she felt that his treatment of her back then had actually saved her, she wanted to do the same for him now. Hunter recognized her after all the intervening years and listened to her explain that she wanted to be his bound one. But because she did not tell him about her love for him, he thought she was asking for the wrong reason. He would be hers forever and that was not fair to her if she didn’t love him.
Avril came back the next day to try once more. Hunter had injured his hands banging on the walls in pain. So she spoke up and told him the truth – she loved him from the very beginning. But as they were preparing to start the bonding, Jade stopped them with the news that Nightmare had taken women and children captive and would harm them if MedAct did not release Hunter to him. What would Hunter do now? He had secrets about the Fighters that could not be revealed. He did not want Avril to be harmed by any of this! And they only had less than an hour to respond to his demands!
Again, I love this series and the imaginative portrayal of cyborgs. A wrong decision now could affect the Fighters, MedAct, and the community. The story line can go in so many different directions! Grab a copy (by subscribing to the author’s mailing list) and enjoy!

Didn't like this one as much as the first one, but that was likely due to it being a shorter novella. It made it very fast paced. Regardless, I can't wait for the next book.

Just reading the summary made me want to read it so bad. It was cute and short and I just didn't want it to end but I can't wait to read book two.

This is a short story to give you some insight into what happened to Hunter when he was captured at the end of the first book.
After getting captured, Hunter is reunited with a woman he knew when she was a girl, Avril.
Right off I felt it was a bit creepy and weird that they were trying to pair him with someone he knew when she was a child. Despite the fact that he is a cyborg and has a longer life-span it was still weird to me.
I also wasn’t a huge fan on how easy it was to convert Hunter. He should have been harder to convince to bind himself to Avril, but it was super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Overall, it was cute and we got some backstory on Hunter, but I think the other stories are a bit more interesting.

It was over a year ago when I first read the first book in this series and totally loved it! It was my first time reading about cyborgs and it blew my mind. This year, I signed up in her newsletter to get updates with her new released and was notified that there are two books or novellas attached in the email. And I was so thrilled. I was waiting for this to be out.
I like the plot of this book or novella. Though I find it fast paced, but I cannot blame the author, it’s meant to be fast pace because it’s a novella. But nonetheless, I love it.

Not terrible, but a little thin. Also needs a good copy editor. Still, not bad considering it was a free download from the author's newsletter. If you liked the author's first cyborg book this one gives a little more world-building detail in addition to the instalove romance. One word of caution--if you're not comfortable with the "I knew you as a child, but now you're all grown up" trope, I'd avoid this one, especially because it comes off as a little creepier than usual here.

If you're a fan of Lauran Dohner, I encourage you to start this series. I inhaled book one and this novella in 24 hrs. I can't wait for book two. Ah, Wind and Cerise. They're going have such a bitter sweet story. Squeeeee!

Uhhh I want to know what happens next! I actually really liked Hunter and Avril together and hope to see a glimpse of where they're at in future novels. Definitely enjoyed this!
