Annie doesn’t just see dead people; she sees the last few minutes before they die.

A modern-day retelling of the Beauty and the Beast classic, Beast tells the story of Annabelle Granger, an ordinary teenager with an extraordinary and terrible gift – while she’s sleeping she experiences the final minutes of other people’s deaths. Frustrated by her inability to save the helpless victims, Annie begins her own investigation to find the killer of a fellow classmate. In the course of her journey, she stumbles across a stranger with a dark and painful secret of his own.

A virtual recluse, damaged both emotionally and physically, Alex Hamilton finds himself reluctantly drawn towards Annie and into her investigation. But as his feelings for Annie grow, Alex has to face the demons of his past and learn to accept the person he has since become. Getting closer to the killer, both their lives are put in danger when their foe turns out to be more gruesome and deadly than either of them expected.

I am into keeping fit, but only because I know it is good for my long-term health and because I need to balance out my love for ice cream, chocolate and cheese – all of which I like snacking on while getting lost in a good book. Because as far as I am concerned, life would be boring without books to read and friends to talk about them with.

I liked it

3.5 stars for this modern-day retelling of the classic beauty and the beast story. Set in a current day setting it has an extra magical twist. Though the romance is predictable, I liked that the murderous werewolf wasn't instantly identifiable. The end was a bit drawn out and a little cheesy but who doesn't want the fairytale to have a fairytale ending.

I like that it was a mix of beauty and the beast, romance, magical what nots. All my favorites in one book. What I didn't like was the why it was happening to her was kinda like "eh who knows" and left it at that. Overall it was a good book.

I read this book because my granddaughter had it. It was such a good read without intensity and being too adult, but had feelings and emotions. Nice little romance with intrigue and a murder mystery thrown in. Well done Kate I will be reading your other books

4.5 stars for this absolutely adorable romance. As always I love the dual POVs with Kate Harre's writing and feeling Alex's pain and insecurity was fantastic - with the beast element he was of course not the epitome of gorgeousness! It was great seeing him slowly open up and make himself vulnerable. And it was so nice seeing the heroine, Annie, have to be the one to initiate the progression in their relationship. The development of their friendship and then romantic feelings towards each other was really sweet and satisfying.

I also loved the secondary storyline focussing on Annie's parents and their complicated relationship.

This was a delightful take on Beauty and the Beast with a few extra surprises in there and lots of feels. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a HEA romance.
