Roxanne knows where she’d like to shove Cupid’s arrow. Tired of cheating men and false promises of love, Roxanne launches a campaign against Cupid’s Dating Service. But it’s hard to smear a company when you’ve got the hots for the owner. Maverick Eros is more than the CEO of CDS, he’s Cupid himself. However, forget the media images of a chubby diapered cherub because the god of love is actually six feet plus of yummy, muscled male. When they meet, sparks fly–the lusty kind–but they both know from experience, love hurts. Can they learn to trust again?
Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .
I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.
I was bugged the entire time by the little things. Sorry, the Greek pantheon was always quite special to me, so much so that my very first internet identity was 'Psyche's Song'.
I didn't like how Venus said to Roxanne "You need to brush up on your GREEK history" even though everything related to the Roman pantheons. I didn't like that Cupid was the child of Venus and Mars. Yes there is one school of thought that he was the child of Aphrodite and Ares, but that is a more obscure argument and holds little credence. Also, I didn't like that Venus and Mars were together as 'husband and wife'. Oh I'm sorry Vulcan, once again you have been forgotten. Sorry dude. (No really, I am. I always felt bad for Hephaestus/Vulcan and how he was cuckolded by Aphro/Venus.)
I didn't like how Roxanne started a smear campaign against CDS, and then we find out she isn't fully human. The thought struck me that it just seemed petty and god-like trying to have a 'supposedly' human dating service be held responsible for finding love for someone who doesn't fit the human norm. *shrugs* Just seemed extremely bitter to me and thus put me off her from the start.
Maverick aka Cupid, I liked.
I did not like how Psyche was supposed to be some petty vindictive bitch.
But all in all.. it was a quick romp, and slightly amusing. Though why they didn't think to run the glass of frozen water under the hot water tap is beyond me.
Short feel good romance story between Cupid and Roxanne. The demigod thing was a surprise but made it interesting, same with the interfering parents. Pretty fast paced with a predictable interruption.

FIrst off - this book is a total cheeze-fest. OMG. Cheezy, cheezy, cheezy. That being said - it was cute, sweet, and hot when it needed to be.
Roxanne Fortuna is tired of the loser boyfriends that her dating service keeps hooking her up with. The dating service in question is named CDS - Cupid's Dating Service. cheeze The CDS claims to have a 100% success rate - and Roxanne sets out to prove them wrong. She starts a smear campaign against them.....but to her surprise, she can't find anyone else who has a problem with them. Apparently she really is the only failure they've ever had. As a result of her smear campaign, the boss of the company, Maverick Eros, cheese sends Roxanne a letter, threatening a lawsuit if she doesn't stop her attempts to ruin his good name. Upon receiving the letter, she heads over to his office to meet with him - and the sparks fly between both of them, but neither wants to admit it.
After the instant connection they both felt, Roxanne and Maverick each go to their mothers - and demand that the love spell be removed. See.....Roxanne is the non-human daughter of Lady Luck cheeze and Maverick is actually THE Cupid. cheeze Both are Gods - but neither realizes it about the other one. (Apparently Gods look JUST like humans! Even other Gods can't tell!) convenient cheeze
Once they are both told by their families that they are not under a love spell......neither can believe it. Maverick/Cupid was once married to Psyche (HE was under a love spell that eventually got broken when she bore a child that was NOT his) and he has no desire to be in love or married again.
Although both try to deny it, they are in lust with each other. After a chance meeting at a dinner party and some hot hallway sex DURING the party - they realize they do feel something for each other - but good Lord, they both still try to deny it. After this, Maverick decides to do things the right way and ask her to dinner. No sex....just a regular old mortal "get to know each other" dinner. And who woulda guessed....he likes her mind as well as her body. And she feels the same.
That night after their date, he confesses that he is in love with her, and although she feels the same way - she can't bring herself to admit it.....because she fears being hurt.
Of course, you know there is a HEA for these two crazy (non-human) kids. There always is.
Like I said - this book is a total cheeze-fest.....but it's short, and that makes it easier to stomach. If this had been a full length book, I don't think I could have handled it. Only so much cheeze is allowed before you start to get sick, right?
Nothing beats the flirty fun you find reading something by Eve Langlais. I always squee when she releases something new and DATING CUPID definitely lived up to the excitement I felt when I received it. I’ve read most of the sexy alphas Eve created, fallen into a complete lust swoon over many of them and I was tickled that her next stud was Mr. Love himself – Cupid. This story was HOT with a capital H that left me in a swoon. A great way to spend the afternoon, I enjoyed every word and was so sad when it was over.
Roxanne is a woman on a mission. Three times she used the services of Cupid’s Dating Services and three times she was matched with losers that eventually cheated and broke her heart. Angry at being lead astray with the promise of true love, she sets out to destroy the reputation of the company – plastering Facebook and the internet with her angry rants. It doesn’t take long before the sexy CEO Maverick learns about it and sets out to make her cease and desist. Maverick is stumped over why his company has failed to find love for Roxanne. As the only complaint, his high tech computer program has yet to fail and in all honesty, as Cupid himself – he has the lovers touch and gift for good matches. Looking over all of her details doesn’t answer any of his questions so he invites Roxanne to a sit down negotiation, convinced the problem isn’t with him but with her – maybe she’s some ugly hag of a woman that no one could want. He’s floored when into his office walks a woman who melts his insides and sears her name on his heart. Just one electrifying touch leaves poor Maverick hungering to know her, his thoughts totally consumed by her beauty. Roxanne isn’t immune to his charms either and lustful thoughts swamp her as both of them rush back to their parents, convinced they’ve been bespelled. This was what their parents had hoped for – Aphrodite and Lady Luck have plotted for their children to fall in love for centuries and the time has finally arrived. But both Maverick and Roxanne carry painful scars from past relationships and want to make sure what they feel for each other is more than blistering lust but the foundation for an eternity of love. Believing Maverick to be a player, Roxanne is hesitant to share the L word and when his ex wife Psyche shows up, she may just lose the chance to tell him her heart. Is Maverick truly the honest to goodness faithful man she’s told he is? Can Roxanne overcome her fear and truly believe that he loves her wholeheartedly? And when faced with the threat of Cupid’s arrow will true love triumph over treachery? *sigh* It’s all just so exciting!
One of the things I loved most about this story is Eve’s choosing to make Roxanne “real”. When I’m reading a romance novel, it’s easy to picture the hunk of a man, all rippling muscles and yummy goodness. He’s everything you fantasize about and you’re reduced to a drooling mess. As you fall more in love with the hero, I like to be able to put myself in the shoes of the heroine, imagining myself the receiver of those delicious kisses, the one that’s being ravished and devoured. But my mind automatically pictures a slender woman and being of the curvy variety myself, I cheered that Roxanne is a woman after my own body type. I can identify with a woman that doesn’t fit the stick figure mold and I love that books like this celebrate the reality that ALL woman can enjoy heart racing romance. On that same note, I LOVE that Eve writes romances where the hero is completely ENAMOURED with curves. Maverick LOVED Roxanne’s body, he couldn’t wait to memorize each inch of her, trace the contours of her body with his hands and… tongue *blushes* Sexy comes in all sizes and DATING CUPID is a book that definitely promotes that. Well done Eve! I appreciate it and it’s one of the reasons I keep coming back for more.
I really found the characters of the story to be endearing. Who hasn’t looked for love and found a bunch of jerks in return. I thought it was funny that as the daughter of Lady Luck, Roxanne had such a bad streak when it came to finding her true love but I loved one of the comments in the book where she was told sometimes you need to have a bad relationship to prepare you for the right one. As much as it broke her heart, I think it prepared her to know what she wanted and when she met Maverick, she was able to recognize there was something more. I loved how she walked into his office strong, ready to kick some serious CEO butt and walked out weak kneed and blushing. Maverick definitely had sex appeal and it was great to see he wasn’t as unaffected. I kind of expected him to be a womanizer at first and was so grateful to learn that he wasn’t – he was the kind of man girls dream of marrying. Truthfully, he showed how amazing he was when all he could think of was attacking Roxanne and having his wicked way with her, but he wanted to know if what he was feeling was more so he gave her something to wear to stop him and froze the key. How’s that for commitment? When his ex wife Psyche showed up, I was ready to slap her for trying to mess with what was happening but it wasn’t needed because Roxanne took care of it. Such a great couple and I enjoyed the way they sizzled.
Eve Langlais is an author who provides addicting reads. They’re light, funny, and extremely flirty with incredible heat. I’m always left feeling good when I’m done reading and DATING CUPID was no exception. Definitely grab yourself a copy and settle yourself in for an enjoyable few hours because you won’t want to put this book down. Happy reading!
Enjoyed it. As usual Eve Langlais brings the funny in her romantic comedy novellas! Her novellas are the perfect lighthearted break in between my urban fantasy reads, and this one doesn’t disappoint.
3 stars. Too short to really get invested, I did like the idea and if fleshed out definitely would have been more-star-worthy. Roxi was kind of a brat, but again, I think that comes from just not having time to really get to know her. Meddling parents/god sounds about right. :)
This was a quick read, but it was good! I enjoy stories that bring in the gods and goddesses, especially if they are hot! Ms. Langlais does a good job in this story of showing both sides of the story (the hero's and the heroine's)and I enjoyed both Roxie and Maverick's relationship and the rather humorous way they dealt with their mothers. It was cute and sweet, and the couple was great! I enjoyed this one greatly!
I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun and sexy romantic comedy. The characters were interesting and Loveable. I like that the " hero" was manly and very likeable. The Heroine was tough without being bitchy. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Very quick, funny, quirky romance...with a lot of kick! Maverick and Roxanne's instant attraction was hysterical, along with the descriptive visuals of the lusty feelings they were having towards each other. A fun read that will lighten your mood. I'll be looking for more from this author.
My Thoughts On This Book: So this book was...meh. It was pretty interesting seeing Eros (the cupid) being in a modern setting and having his own dating service then shooting arrows to strike love to people. I felt bad for Roxanne had three failed matches due to the system having a glitch in the program but when she and Eros touched hands it was pretty obvious that they were met to be together (I mean it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that it was bound to happen.)
The interesting thing was and spoiler here
The thing that disappointed me was Eros's ex-wife. is treated as a bad woman. I'm sorry for someone who's a huge Greek/Roman Mythology addict who knows each and every myth by heart (including recently finding out there are two versions of the known myths as well.) Eros's ex-wife in this book with how she is described just to me feels out of character for her. Especially since she in the myths is never described as a type of scheming type of woman.
The chemistry between Eros and Roxanne is...well..to me it seems there wasn't much chemistry at all. There wasn't normal talking, just them fighting on each other who caused a love spell on each other and them wanted to jump each other. Basically, just lust not real chemistry but them wanting to get into each other's pants.
I honestly did drop this at chapter 8 because the "chemistry" was disappointing. I like my chemistry built up and actually shown that the two actually and I mean actually love each other. Not chemistry with main characters wanting to just get into each other's pants.
Yes, I will admit this book did had some good things to it but it just wasn't for me.
3.75☆☆☆ As for spoilers, from the setup, we all know this will be an HEA. In fact, that is exactly the point of this story. It's a quick, fun romp for hopless romantics everywhere. Hopeless romantics+ enemies to lovers + burned by previous lovers= Dating Cupid. Toss in meddling mothers, attempts at comedic embarrassment 3.75☆☆☆ Hopeless romantics+ enemies to lovers + burned by previous lovers= Dating Cupid. Turns out I like cheese from time to time. The narrator did a fine job navigating the difficult line between lively reading and being a total ham. I hope Ms. L employs her again to help keep her comedy oganic rather than forced as compared to some more sarcastic and supposed comedic writers. Eve Langlais is one of my top 5 one click authors. She has so many books I'm sure I will be set for years. One.of the best things about Eve and her books is the humor. If I need a chuckle or just a fun read Eve is my go to author. The great thing is when you buy one of Eve's books there is no question on if the book will be well written, edited, complete world development, or card board characters. Eve is guaranteed to have put the work in to make your read and her world as amazing as possible. At first I only stuck with books I knew from the blurb I would be interested in, but I started taking chances on books of hers I wasn't 110% sure I'd like. But I shouldn't have hesitated or second guessed one of my favorite authors. Every. Single. Book. That I have read, I have loved. So now I just try to buy the series and when I get them literally devour the entire series. I love her work. Especially when I'm stressed or bumbed because she never fails to bring a smile to my face when I read her stories. Her books are always affordable and always worth the money! If you love a good romance with a lot of smiles this is definitely a good book for you. Oh and don't forget meddling moms lol those two were so cute
Oh my goddess. This is such a good read with perfect balance of funny, heat, romance, and a bit of intrigue that keeps you guessing. There was a twist I didn't see coming, that was just perfect. Although I choked while listening, there was a funny part that I wasn't prepared for and was in the process of chewing. I almost died cracking up. The witty banter is just to die for, I suggest not munching while reading. A few minutes and the heimlich later, ok it wasn't that bad, I set aside the snacks, just too risky for this book. For a book that is less than three hours long, I was surprised of the world building, and thoroughness of each character. Perfection. Grab your copy, not the snacks trust me you don't want to go out that way, and listen to this awesome read. The narration was spot on.
This is a quintessential Eve Langlais book. It has sass, humor, and a lot of naughtiness. I have to admit that I loved the mothers more then I like to hero and heroine. They are the typical meddling mothers and I can relate that.
This story is about Cupid who has modernized his way of finding people love and has been spot on until Roxanne. That is when he meets his match. Roxanne's luck with love has be horrid and ironic since her mom is Lady Luck. When they meet we know that there will be some sexy times acoming. I did enjoy this book.
Three time's the charm...or not. After three failed attempts at finding "The One" using Cupid's Dating Service (CDS), Roxanne decides to guide other potential clients away from this sham. When Maverick Eros gets wind of her actions, he follows the lead of his team by setting up a meeting with the troublemaker. The moment Roxanne walks into Maverick's office she knows something is wrong. She can't stop looking at him or thinking about him. Maverick immediately suspects someone has set his own powers against him.
If you're looking for a story with dating services, gods and scheming mothers, this is the book for you!
This is the start of my journey of reading some Eros romance retellings for a series a friend and I are working on. It was pretty cute and cheesy. I honestly loved Maverick but the FMC was a bit on the annoying side most of the time with how dramatic and whiney (in the beginning) she was. Without giving too much away, I did love who she ended up being related to though.
I have little background knowledge of the other Greek gods/goddesses mentioned but I loved how they were tied in and it made me want to read up some more on their stories as well.
Overall it was a cute short read, perfect for valentines, just don’t go into it expecting a serious read.
The book is so good that I couldn't put it down until I finished it despite needing to sleep. After three bad strikes, Roxanne gets mad and tries to ruin Cupid's Dating Service. However when Maverick asks to meet her to try to stop the smear campaign, both are surprised by the electric attraction between them. They managed to resist a little but eventually give in and fall in love with each other. Not even cupid's arrow can break them up as their love is true. I like the revenge Maverick indulges in when Psyche, his ex, tries to break them up.
Have it in audio This is a short audio novella. Love how Eve picked the Eros (the goddess of love ) as the president owner and CEO as a dating site. Instead of going around shooting people with arrows Cupid decides to do something more common these days make an App. What happens when the app keeps on sending the wrong date to the lady. She decides to get even. How does Cupid fight back. Love how he decides to find her real love. Does he get the bite also. I laughed at many parts .
The book is about this woman named Roxanne who has just bad luck with men, especially on this dating app that supposedly has 100% couple rating. So she decides to sue the dating app.
However what no one knows is that the dating app is that it's run by cupid himself. Maverick has never gotten it wrong. There must be a bug in the system. So he personally takes her case in finding love.
It was a really cute book!! I really liked how the book started. Maverick was a sweetheart.
I liked bits and pieces but the rest I didn’t really care about. Didn’t hate anything, just didn’t really care. I’m the beginning the heroine is petty and the hero is a bit of a toss but once they hook up it’s not quite as bad. Readable and there were a few funny bits, but I doubt I’ll remember it in the years to come.
Sometimes, a girl just needs to read a short story where it’s all just feel good romance, sizzling spice, and minimal drama. And Dating Cupid delivered that! It was a Greek God romance (which you shouldn’t take too seriously if you’re a lover of Greek myths), haters to lovers, love at first sight… and damn it, I loved every moment of it.
This was one of the funniest books I ever read. I laughter through most of it while I was reading this book. I love this author and her books. I recommend this book to my friends and family. Happy Reading!
This quickie was a wonderful enemies to lovers, rife with parental interference, gods and demi-gods, romance. Fun, steamy, argumentative, and a bit playful, the story and our characters go pretty quick from never, to not you, to not again, to forever, and that was just right for them!
Lots of fun! This steamy romance novella is between Cupid himself and our feisty heroine. She's been cheated on by yet another guy Cupid's on line dating service has set her up with, and now she's out for revenge. 3.5 stars.
Great short story. Loved the whole cupid story and that true love conquers even Cupid's arrow. I would have loved for him to get back at his Ex wife though. That would have made the story even better.
