Young, gorgeous, and with the voice of an angel, Skyler Jones dreams of becoming a singer…
After the death of her parents in a tragic car accident, there’s nothing to tie twenty-five-year-old Skyler to the East Coast. But if she’s learned one thing, it’s that life is short. So with aspirations of landing a record deal, she moves to the land of champagne wishes and caviar dreams.
Sexy, rich, and wildly successful, Logan Michaels’ club is the hottest nightspot in Los Angeles…
While at his club, Logan spots a stunning woman ordering a drink. In L.A., beautiful women are a dime a dozen, but this one’s different—and so is their connection. He’s never been so infatuated, and he’s determined to know more about the striking stranger. After pulling some strings, he finds out where she works and asks her to dinner.
They find more than love—they find opportunity…
After a few dates, Logan convinces Skyler to perform at his club. But when Skyler dances with one of Logan’s connections, he’s unable to contain his explosive jealousy. However, his major screw-up with Skyler is the least of his problems. When a scorned ex-employee seeks revenge in the most deadly of ways, it puts both himself and Skyler’s life in danger.
Will Logan be able to protect Skyler from the growing threat? Or will she run…and write off this chapter of her life as chasing dreams?
Didn't hate it but didn't really like it either. Everything just felt weird. Everything was so perfect. Even their little fight (which seemed stupid to me) was wrapped up quick and the two guys who were causing problems didn't even make sense they felt just thrown in there to make the story seem more interesting.
Didn't care for either character. Nothing exciting about them. Epilogue was kind of blah too.
This was a new author to me, but as soon as I read read the synopsis I knew I'd love it.
The main character Skyler, tragic past which made her think of her hope and dreams and move to LA. Skyler isn't your typical female character, she has a feisty side and doesn't take any form of rubbish from men!
Her bestie Sadie ropes her into a night out at a new club where smoking hot Logan awaits….. man he's sexy as hell and has everything going gorgeous him, physical attraction, sparks from the start.
This love tale is from both Skyler and Logans POV, it works so well, they both had disasters with previous relationships and struggle working together, there's jealousy, protectiveness, hidden motives so having both POV it helps put the situations into some context.
Alison has a well written, page turning rollercoaster novel….. fingers crossed for a Sadie/Jonah or Shane/Kate in the future
I think i had high expectations about this book! i was expecting something completely different, and it felt unrealistic, and too perfect, nothing really happened, i dont know... I think it was my fault for expecting too much. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best NA i have read, However i liked Logan´s business.
Have you ever looked back on your life and thought "If I hadn't made this one decision, things may have been so different?" This is Sky's moment. After losing her parents two years ago, Sky left all she knew behind and moved to LA to chase her dream of becoming a singer. Her new roommate, Sadie, quickly became her best friend and although things aren't going as she had dreamed, she is content. One night Sadie stubbornly insists that Sky visit Club Thrive, an already established club with new ownership, a single, hot guy, where Sadie's boyfriend, Jonah, works. Thank goodness for Sky that Sadie won't take no for an answer. Upon their eyes meeting for the first time, you can actually hear things click into place for Logan and Sky.
The connection is there and immediate. Even though neither of them take a step towards anything more that night, they can't stop thinking about the other. Logan makes his move and though hesitant, Sky accepts and they have a great date. Logan is determined to take things slow so as not to spook Sky with how much he's already feeling towards her. Sky isn't sure what to think about this though as she's never experienced anyone quite like Logan.
Once they both realize, and accept, they want to see where this leads and that their connection is intense, we quickly realize how much they have in common, how hot their chemistry is, and that they're both vulnerable, albeit in different ways. Yes, Logan and Sky are perfect for each other, but both are far from being perfect. This less than perfect aspect, while expected because there is no perfect human being, leads to some misunderstandings. One was pretty easy to remedy as Sky warned Logan from the beginning that she wasn't good at relationships and had been known to sabotage some in her pasts out of an emotional fear when they were going well, so he recognized when it happened and was able to quickly call her on it and they talked it out. The other however, Logan overreacted and while it was understandable due to his experience with a past girlfriend, it was an embarrassing shock in the workplace to Sky as he hadn't shared that previous heartbreak with her. Logan quickly realizes he screwed up, badly, and needs to fix things right away. They're both miserable without each other after only a day apart, but it does help them realize how much they want to be together. Thankfully they're able to work things out after talking things through, some groveling, and a heartfelt demonstration on Logan's part.
Things are going great in their personal lives and they couldn't be happier. Unfortunately, their professional lives are experiencing some issues as Logan learned an employee was stealing from him and wasn't happy about being fired and arrested. As for Sky, as much as she hates it, she's used to customers grabby after some drinks. She quickly handles one such situation and figures that's the end of that as has been the case in the past. This time though, it's different and now Sky is living in fear from a stalker.
Will Logan and Sky embrace their HEA? Will they both be able to let go of their reservations due to past experiences? Will Logan's former employee continue to be a problem? Will Sky's stalker fade away or will he take things to a dangerous level, endangering Sky's life? Who is behind the incidents that keep plaguing Logan and Sky? The former employee, the stalker, or both? Will Sky realize she's ready to chase a new dream? What does the future hold for Logan and Sky? For Jonah and Sadie? Will we get to see Shane, Logan's employee, and Katie's, Sadie and Sky's friend, relationship unfold? *cough cough ahem ahem Alison...blinks innocently*
One-click now and find out what happens when you chase your dreams and find everything you didn't know you wanted. This is a great story and as is always the case with this author's work, I was sucked in. I figured I'd read a few chapters before falling asleep then finish the next day. *I was wrong...did you read that in Ron White's voice? That's how I wrote it. LOL* At 2am I had to force myself to close the book and go to bed. It was hard to say good-bye, even temporarily, as I needed to know what was going to happen next. I had quickly become invested in these characters and their stories. Even now, as I'm writing this review, the book is still playing in the back of my mind. That, to me, is the sign of a great book. I've been a fan of Alison's since her debut book and it's been a wonderful experience watching her grow into herself and find her voice. I'm looking forward to the next story and I just know I'll love it too.
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
Chasing Dreams by Alison Mello is a N.A, insta-love romance- with elements of drama, mystery and suspense. Skyler Jones (Sky) is 25 years old, with dreams of making it ‘big’ in the music industry. When her parents died a few years earlier, Skyler packed up and moved to Los Angeles to follow her dreams. Working as a bar attendant during the day and ‘gigging’ whenever she can at night, she hasn’t found the recognition she was hoping for- but she refuses to give up. Having had a string of crappy relationships, as the men are either an a**hole, boring in bed or only a ‘one night stand’- Sky has spent the better part of the year in a self imposed celibacy (her B.O.B doesn’t count, right?). Anyway, a relationship would just be a distraction to her achieving her goals. After months of working and gigging, at the expense of her social life- her best friend Sadie demands that Skyler join her for a night out at a new club called Thrive. Sky is reluctant, but Sadie won’t take no for an answer. Logan Michaels has had aspirations of owning a club for many years; so when his mother died, leaving him a huge inheritance- Logan purchased the club and has worked very diligently to make it the extremely successful business it is now. He is behind the bar, when Skyler and her friends walk into the club. He is immediately struck by her beauty and ends up surreptitiously watching her all night- not an easy task when the bar and club is so busy. Logan can’t stop thinking about her and decides to track her down with the help of a mutual friend. Skyler has been fantasizing about him, since seeing him at the club and is pleasantly surprised when Logan asks her out. The two of them click and a relationship develops very quickly. Logan and Skyler have anything but a boring sex life, in fact it’s the best sex either of them have ever had. Logan has a bit of an Alpha Male thing going on and likes to take charge and dominate in the bedroom. This suits Skyler just fine, as long as he doesn’t try controlling her life outside of the bedroom. Things are going really well for them, until Logan’s jealous streak and betrayal issues surface- driving Skyler away. Logan has a lot of explaining and grovelling to do, and is unsure if she will forgive him. When chaos and violence enter their world, it threatens not only their property and livelihoods, but also their lives. Logan does everything he can to protect her, but is it too late, as the perpetrator is very evasive and seems to be one step ahead of them. This is a wonderful insta-love romance; I was entranced by Ms. Mello’s captivating story and couldn’t pull myself away. It was so easy to read; fast paced, but has smoothness to the flow. I read it in a day. The bedroom scenes are very erotic and explicit. There some light BDSM content. Ms. Mello had me drooling over Logan’s prowess at pleasuring a woman. I needed a cigarette afterwards, and I don’t even smoke (although, my panties may have been). I loved the way the characters were written; they were likeable and well developed. The book’s told from a duel P.O.V, is a standalone and ends in a H.E.A. I really recommend this book; it’s such a fantastic, easy, clever, charming and fun read. Well done, and thank-you Ms. Mello.
We meet Skyler and Logan when Sky and her best friend go to Logan’s club for a night out. Attraction crackles in the air the second they lay eyes on one another. Sky is a singer who also works the bar. Her place of employment is on the seedy side, so when Logan hears her sing, he becomes determined to get her singing in his club, Thrive. After being attacked after her shift one night, Skyler decides to take Logan up on his offer. Their feelings for each other have developed quite rapidly, and they cannot fight the urge to spend every minute they can together. Sky was worried how the people she worked with would treat her, as she is the boss’ girlfriend. She needn’t have worried, jumping in and helping out behind the bar when they were short staffed and swamped. The way she handled herself proved that she was there on her own merit, not because she gets cozy with the boss. The story takes a sinister turn, when Logan discovers Sky has an obsessed stalker. He has already attacked her once, so Logan hires security for them, convinced that he can never be complacent when it comes to keeping Sky safe. Logan keeps he close and rarely lets her out of his sight. She cannot stand to be smothered, but she knows Logan’s heart is in the right place. She means the world to him, and he cannot bear the thought of being without her. But the green eyed monster raises it’s ugly head, leaving Logan in the doghouse and quite likely being dumped for his jealous outburst. Things do work out for them after much grovelling and explaining from Logan. The bad guys get caught and the good guys get the prize. And that prize is love. Logan and Skyler hit the jackpot when they found each other. Chasing Dreams is witty and well written. A great insight how the other half live, or what I imagine it to be. This book explores a love that grows from instant attraction, it explores the slightly rougher side to bedroom activities, and trying to build something solid and lasting. A great mix of characters that just seem to compliment each other. Even the not so stellar characters fit into the story seamlessly. Skyler and Logan burn up more that just the sheets. Alison Mello brings them to life perfectly. This is my first book by this author, but I cannot wait to become more familiar with her work.
3 star review Chasing Dreams by Alison Mello follows the life of young Skyler Jones. Skyler is an orphan who has big dreams of a singing career. She gives up everything to move to Los Angeles to pursue her aspirations. She makes ends meet by bartending while singing whenever and wherever she can trying to get her “big break”. Everything changes when she meets the rich and sexy Logan Michaels. Logan Michaels is the son of a former Hollywood star. He is rich, handsome, and runs the hottest nightclub in Los Angeles. He is instantly infatuated with the beautiful and talented Skyler and they begin a torrid romance almost immediately. But between Logan’s jealousy and a dangerous stalker and ex-employee threatens to tear them apart in a permanent way. Honestly, I had a hard time finishing this book. The first few chapters were ok, but as the romance between Sky and Logan continued, I found myself losing interest. It seemed that Logan became more dominating as their romance deepened. But rather than being a sexy BDSM type of dominant, Logan became almost bullying. Skyler went from being a sexy, independent girl at the beginning of the novel to almost a doormat who tolerates Logan’s petty jealousy and borderline abusive behaviors. All is forgiven as he gives her expensive gifts in apology every time he lets his jealousy overwhelm him. This is strictly a matter of taste. I personally do not find that type of man attractive and the drama that existed between the two characters due to jealousy was off putting for me. There was one particular scene where Logan “punishes” Sky for wearing shorts that he considered provocative that I actually found offensive. The storyline of the stalker and dangerous ex-employee seemed very underdeveloped to me. It seemed to me the story would have been much better served if the villain had been better fleshed out. There was a lot of time spent discussing locations and the gifts that Logan was buying for Sky (shopping, vacations, cars, etc) . I also had some issues with formatting on the particular copy that I received. It seemed that sentences would be omitted between pages at times and this made reading this story a bit disjointed.
When only child Skylar loses both her parents in a fatal car wreck, she decides to sell everything and move to Los Angeles to chase her dream of being a singer. She meets Sadie, a girl looking for a room mate and the two quickly become best friends. She gets a job at a local bar as a barmaid, which still gives her enough time to do a few gigs to help her dream along. When Sadie gets an idea from her boyfriend Jonah to being Sky along to meet the new bar owner where he works owner, Logan. Usually one to get bored rather quickly in relationships, Sky reluctantly allows herself to be pulled along. When spotting Logan, she is glad she decided to go out for a few drinks. Logan, noticed Sky as well and couldn’t take his eyes off of her. With his arms full within the bar, with an unnamed thief on his staff, he is forced to rely on his pal Jonah for information on Sky. Not being shy, he gathers what he can about her and then sets off to see her. Offering to take her on a date turns into a relationship where all the perks of dating him come to life. Using his money and his power he pulls a few strings to get her gigs in what he deemed safer environments than the ones she normally works in. As her career begins to take off, she finally feels that it was all the blood, sweat and tears it took to get her there. Showing up to surprise her one night he is shocked to see her dancing with one of his friends. Flying into a jealous rage, he tries to pull her away, when much to his dismay she storms off and refuses to talk to him unless he apologizes for his behavior. When he is finally given the chance to talk to her, her tells her about Lindsey, the girl who broke his heart and left him. When she forgives him he is able to go back to taking care of the restaurant. Tragedy strikes when it’s least expected which will turn his life upside down, and test the level of his love for Sky. Alison Mellow had me sitting on the end of my seat. Her writing style eases you into the book and the storyline but keeps you guessing where it will end and who will end up on the top and who doesn’t stand a chance when chasing their dreams.
What a fun, easy story to read. Alison Mello is a new to me author which makes this is a great story to start with. Her writing is easy to understand and the story is easy to follow.
Skyler is our heroine and she is just your average girl looking to hit it big as a singer. For some reason I kept hearing the guy from the movie “Pretty Woman” saying “Welcome to Hollywood…where all your dreams come true.” When her bff, Sadie, insists Skyler goes out with her to a new club, Skyler reluctantly goes. Luckily enough she meets Logan, the club owner. Their attraction and chemistry is intense and immediate. While Logan is the owner of a new club, he’s not afraid to get behind the bar and serve his customers and luckily enough the night he is behind the bar is when Skyler walks into his club. Logan has Dom instincts and comes across as tough but sweet. He doesn’t want to be hurt…again, by a woman he can’t trust. Is sexy, shy Skyler the one to break through Logan’s insecurities? This is not a story for the under 18 reader as there are a few steamy sex scenes between Logan and Skyler. Alison Mello nicely pulls emotions from the reader with scenes like the spanking. This scene is hot and “frustrating” for Skyler and the reader. Even the situation immediately after “the spanking” was a little heart breaking for Logan and Skyler but then turns heart warming for them. The way these two scenes are written proves that communication is key to any type of relationship. I really loved the part when Skyler realizes that her dreams can change. “I really enjoy singing, but I don’t have the outgoing personality for it. I’m more comfortable behind the bar and in the club. I’ve come to realize I was really chasing happiness, and I think I’ve found it.”
Skyler reminds me of the quote by C.S. Lewis “ You’re never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream.” I recommend this book to those over 18 readers.
Strong characters, an original plot, sensual romance and a suspenseful twist kept me turning the pages of ‘Chasing Dreams’; Sky is a typical new adult heroine, running from a tragic loss she decides the only way is forward and sets off to the bright lights of LA to realise her dreams as a professional singer. Serendipity and a great best friend play a part in Logan and Sky’s meeting but the instantaneous attraction is down to them. The passion between them dominates their developing relationship and makes for some memorable love scenes. Logan is controlling and I find this trait irritating but his caring nature and deepening love for Sky redeems him for me, as the story progresses. Sky is independent and tenacious and easy to like. Her obvious physical attraction to Logan reveals her vulnerable side but when he oversteps, her feisty nature returns and demands his respect. The suspense element enhances the story and contrasts with the sensuous romance. Well paced, it probably won’t turn out like you expected, which is always the mark of a good book. I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
Chasing Dreams by Alison Mello is about finding your way when you feel you have nothing left. This book will make you laugh and wanting to fight for the characters relationship. This book will make you see that when there is something you want bad enough there is a way but you need to make it happen.
Skyler Jones is a woman who has lost her family to a tragic accident and finds herself in LA trying to make her dreams come true. When her roommate drags her out to a new club, she doesn't want to go. Once there she meets him and finds him totally eye candy. When he convinces her to go out with him what will happen? When he gives her a chance to sing, will she take it? Will she give him a chance? Will she find the courage to have a relationship with him?
Logan Michaels is the owner of a night club who has had a bad relationship in the past. When he meets her one night at the club, he can't keep his eyes off him. Who is she? When an ex-employee threatens to destroy what he has, what will he do? Can he protect her? Can he get past his insecurities to be with her?
Skyler and Logan's story is one that will keep you hoping for them. They bring excitement and suspense to the story. What will happen when tragedy strikes? Can they get past his insecurities to be together?
This is my first read by Alison Mello. Alison lives in Massachusetts with her husband and son. Alison loves spending time with her son playing soccer, basketball and football. She was glad when she started her writing journey and wants to bring joy to her readers. This book will keep you wanting to read until the last page. It will keep you wondering what will happen to this couple until you find out. I highly suggest this book and I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Logan Michaels is a very rich, handsome owner of the hottest new club in L.A called Thrive. Skyler Jones has dreams of making it big with her beautiful singing voice. In the meantime, she bartends with her best friend, Sadie, at a hole in the wall bar and sings occasionally when she can. Sadie convinces Skyler to go out one night to see Sadie’s boyfriend, Jonah, at Thrive where he works. Skyler really doesn’t want to go, but Sadie convinces her it’s a good idea and that’s where Skyler sees Logan bartending for the first time. They are immediately taken with one another, but each tries to play it cool since they have both been hurt in the past. However, Logan can’t take his eyes off Skyler, and she loves it. Logan asks Jonah how to find Skyler since he can’t get her out of his head and he goes to watch her sing at her part time gig. The sparks fly and Logan and Skyler quickly become inseparable. Outside trouble threaten Skyler’s safety and she sees a side of Logan that she doesn’t like. Can they make it work when danger is so near? Can they work through their insecurities to find real love? This book sure was a quick read! “Chasing Dreams “is a very easy book to get sucked into! Alison Mello has a true talent for thorough description of everything in the book! The way she wrote it made the book play like a movie in my mind as I read it and that can be a beautiful thing! I really enjoyed the characters and the great group she wrote as the friends of Skyler and Logan. My only complaint would be that the book felt sort of mechanical and not as fluid as I typically like reading. This did not detract from the story at all though and I would definitely recommend “Chasing Dreams” to any romance book reader! So I give “Chasing Dreams” four stars!
If you’re looking for a quick, fun and easy read this is your book. Skyler is a young woman that lost her family in a tragic accident. After the accident she decides to move from the East coast out to the West coast to chase her dream of becoming a singer. When she makes it out west she winds up finding a roommate that quickly becomes her best friend. Skyler’s best friend keeps encouraging her to go out but she rarely does. Seeing how she spends most evenings going after her dreams and is singing in bars and then when she isn’t singing she is bartending. One evening Sadie, Skylar’s best friend tells her she is going out and she was not taking no for an answer. That evening turns Skyler’s life into a new direction even though at the time she didn’t know it. When Skyler and Sadie go into the club she is introduced to Logan and from that moment they can’t keep their eyes off each other. Logan also happens to be the owner of the club. From that point on Logan has only her best interest at heart but sometimes those interests can go too far. Logan also has some of his past he needs to work through. Can they work through it to come out in the end together?
In this brand new stand alone novel from Alison Mello, we meet the ambitious Skylar who has moved to a new city to pursue her career in singing. Enter one sexy club owner, Logan, who sets his sights - and his desires - on the shy, yet alluring, Skylar. Not having much success with previous relationships, she is reluctant to enter into one with the dominant and demanding, Logan. Helpless in the face of her own desires, she agrees to see where their passion will lead them. Logan is having an issue with one of the employees at his club and Skylar acquires the unwanted attention from one of the patrons at the bar where she works. With drama and intrigue coming at this new couple from every angle, their relationship is tested and realizations are made. Will their new love be strong enough to carry them through this storm, or will they be swept away by the winds of change?
I really liked the job Mello did with the detail in this book; especially for the workings of a bar. I felt like I was a patron on the scene, and not just a spectator that was reading about it. The characters were simple but relatable, and I especially enjoyed the alpha traits that the leading male exhibited - very hot. There was a build-up to the plot twists, and the story flowed well with them. I will be watching for more from this author. Congratulations, Alison Mello.
Chasing Dreams by Alison Mello is a standalone novel that follows aspiring singer Skyler aka Sky and rich club owner Logan. After tragically losing both of her parents in an accident Sky moves from the east coast to LA to chase her dreams of hitting it big as a singer. Logan is dedicated to making his club successful and spends his time doing just that, after having his heart broken from a previous relationship he is leery about trusting women. When Sky walks into Logan’s club one night with her friends he is instantly drawn to her and has to get to know her better. As soon as Sky lays eyes on Logan she is instantly attracted to him and can not get him out of her mind even after she leaves the club. Logan uses his connections to connect with Sky outside of his club, and invites her out for dinner. Even though they hit it off Sky is worried about a relationship with Logan because she does not have a good track record when it comes to men. The author takes you on a journey with this book to find if both Sky and Logan can let go of their past and work out a future together. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to anyone over the age of 18 (due to adult language and content) looking for a fast paced insta-love story. The author packs this book full of drama, hot steaming sex, a stalker, love, happiness and spankings. The story is told in first person through both Logan’s and Sky’s points of view. I give this book 4 stars.
Chasing Dreams by Alison Mello is a story about a romance between Logan Michaels, club owner and son of a famous actress, and Skyler Jones, part-time bartender and aspiring singer. Introduced by friends, they find a love connection and start a passionate steamy relationship. They also end up having to deal with one of Logan’s revenge-seeking former employees and an awful violent drunken bar patron who doesn't like being told “no”. With Logan’s club’s business thriving and their relationship becoming more serious, he and Skyler having their lives in danger is the last thing they need to be facing.
This book was good, but was lacking something. I felt like I'd read the story before it just seemed to move too quick and too smooth. Even with the danger they faced, the whole thing seemed to fall into place too easy. There was more mention of the high dollar clothing brands and vehicles than I cared for and I feel like those paragraphs would've been better spent on character and story development. It was a nice easy read, but I started to feel bored with it at times. Maybe things came together too easily and I didn't feel as emotionally involved in it as I would have liked. The author is new to me, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I would give the story 3 stars. I look forward to seeing how Ms. Mello continues to develop as an author.
This has been my favorite book by Alison to date... 4.5 stars!
Logan is everything you could possibly want in a book boyfriend - caring, kind, generous (possibly to a fault...I mean, who wouldn't love a guy who would buy them a Porsche!) and protective and when Sky does everything she can to sabotage them, he holds on and doesn't let her run.
With her history it is understandable that Sky is gun shy - after losing her parents the only family she has is her flat mate Sadie and even she is moving on with her life. Sky seems lost and unsure where to go and what to do next. Sure, she moved to LA with big dreams of becoming a singer, but she never really pursued it, instead choosing to remain tucked away in seedy bars serving handsy drunks, so when Logan offers her more she's understandably cautious.
This is the sweet story of Sky and Logan and overcoming the obstacles that even they can't see coming. They come from different worlds, with different dreams and different desires but is does that mean that they can't find them together?
Alison has written great characters with fun, spirited supporting characters such as the tough as nails teddy bear bouncer, Jonah and the sexy, understated bar manager Shane - I wouldn't mind (and am slightly hopeful) if these characters somehow ended up with their own stories...
Changing Dreams By Alison Mello ☆☆☆☆☆ This book is the first in a series. It is a novel packed with suspense as well as a story of trust. This is not just a love story. It's about the journey two people take to find happiness.
Skylar lost her parents at 25 had nothing to stay for . So she headed to L.A. Looking to start her singing career. She works as a bartender on days when she is not singing in clubs. Her friend talks her into going to a club on her day off, and that is when she meets Logan. Does she really want to risk her dreams and make time for a relationship?
Logan’s Mother was a famous Movie Star. After she dies he decide to open his own bar. He is single and doing well. While working one night as a bartender he meets Skyler. Not wanting to get involved he is drawn to her. Can he fight his feelings and stay single?
Just wow! Alison Mello is a creative writer. Her story is not only hot it is intense. Suspense just as you think it is safe to breath. Then she adds a little bit of hot romance, fully detailed. She comes along and changes up her story. Her details are explored to the fullest. I loved that there were trust issues explored as well as a great love story. Can love keep you reading? I think it can. Read about the journey Skyler and Logan are on. Enjoy this story! I know I did.
LOVED this book!!!!! Such an awesome story. Logan is the perfect book boyfriend. Skyler is begged by her roommate, Sadie to go out and meet a guy and Sadie knows just the one. He is the owner of the club that her fiancé, Jonah works at. So Skyler decides to take her up on her offer and go and OMG the bartender is very HOT and she can’t quit thinking about him while she is on the dance floor with Sadie. She then finds out that the sexy guy is the owner and she wants to flirt with him more. Logan can’t quit looking over at the dance floor at the beautiful Skyler and when he goes home he can’t quit thinking about her so he texts Jonah to find out more about her. They end up going on a date or a get together of friends and both have the most amazing time. They hit it off right off the bat. Logan will do anything to keep seeing Skyler and she is pretty smitten herself. This book is so amazing. The love story between Logan and Skyler will just make you swoon. I think Logan is just incredible and the things he does for Skyler in the story are just incredible. Skyler starts having problems from a certain customer of hers and Logan protects her and falls more in love with Skylar every day. He is not shy about it either. Such a perfect book. I could not put it down until I finished every bit of it. LOVED!!!
If you are looking for a quick fun read that will keep you entertained, then dive into Chasing Dreams, you won’t regret it. This is not for the faint of heart though, it has some very serious scenes that may be hard to handle, but I thought that they were done so well that it made it easier for me to handle them. Sky moved to Los Angeles to pursue her singing career and eventually wound up finding the love of her life. Her life changed the moment she walked into the new hot club and met Logan, the super sexy owner. When life threw lemons at her, with help from Logan and her friends, she made lemonade. She may have had a dream to make it big but this goes to show you that fate has a way of helping us find our real destiny. Logan is still a mystery to me, one I would like to unravel very slowly. But, he is the perfect alpha and he reminds me of Christian Grey in a good way, and I looking forward to finding out his secrets. This is a good story that kept me very interested, it had drama and steamy romance with just a touch of dominance thrown in to keep it spicy. This is simply written and easy to read, but it is full of details and issues that will keep you turning the pages. Though this had an “ending” there is more here for a series, I still have questions about Sadie and Jonah for starters.
Skylar is an aspiring singer who moved to LA following the deaths of her parents. She finds an awesome roommate and best friend in Sadie. She couldn’t have been more perfect for Skylar. Skylar is also working as a bartender on the nights she isn’t singing. Skylar’s flaw is that she doesn’t do relationships and finds excuses to not have them or get out of them.
Logan is the owner of a club where Sadie’s boyfriend works. After much convincing, Skylar agrees on a night out with her friends. Logan is immediately drawn to Skylar and even though he’s working, he’s very much aware of her and her every move. Unable to get her out of his head he decides to do a little pursuing. But when he hears her sing he knows he wants her to perform at his club.
This isn’t just a romance. There’s a lot that goes on in Chasing Dreams. We have a stalker who’s been humiliated and a former employee seeking revenge. There’s action and suspense along with sexual tension and lots of sexy scenes.
Chasing Dreams is told in dual points of view and at times is a little too detailed. But overall, the storyline keep my attention and I was drawn with each page to find out what would happen next. This is my first Alison Mello book and I look forward to reading more from her.
Chasing Dreams by Alison Mello is a stand alone contemporary romance with a HEA. This was my first time reading anything by Ms. Mello, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It follows the meeting and romance of Skylar and Logan. Skylar is a shy, young twenty-something who is trying to make it as a singer in LA since moving there after she lost her parents in a car accident. Logan is the son of an actress, who is determined to make a name for himself by owning and transforming failing clubs on the LA club scene.
Romances like this one are not typically something I am drawn to, however from time to time, contemporary romances are great to relax with. I was sad to feel underwhelmed by this book. The story felt very rushed, as though the transitions between POV and chapters were large info dumps. I never truly felt a connection with the characters, as a few of their characteristics seemed a bit contradictory. Some aspects of their relationship and the climax of the plot felt like it all fell into place too easily. While this book may not have been necessarily for me, I'd recommend it for any adult reader who loves a fast and steamy love story.
Logan is pretty damn sexy, think Christian Grey, just without the tie. Skylar is beautiful (thankfully not virginal) and knows what she is doing, so they are pretty much made for each other, so no awkward having to google stuff, and getting freaked over stuff (hated that about 50 shades) Logan is a club owner and Skylar is a singer/bartender they happen to meet one night thanks to Skylar's BFF Sadie and her boyfriend Jonah who happens to work for Logan. Logan has alot of Mr.Grey in him without it bordering on full on BDSM, The sex scenes in the book are extremely hot, but they aren't violent in nature, so no triggers. The banter with Skylar & Logan is really cute and funny, Skylar has alot of personality and it comes across in the book, she is very sassy and it shows. Logan is very controlling, but its in the good way. All & All its a very good book, the back round characters are great, some could probably get their own book (Shane & Katie) Would totally recommend this to friends to read.
Reviewed on behalf of 2girls who love books blog. Book was received in exchange for an honestreview.
Mello has a penchant for love at first sight. She writes them very well. This book was not the exception! Skyler and Logan have an instant connection that builds in a beautiful way. That does not mean there are not bumps along the way.
Skyler is shy and confident at the same time. The phrase " fake it until you make it" kept coming to mind as I was reading. She pushes aside her shyness in order to get what she really wants in life.
Logan is confident and a little bruised from his past. He is kind , generous and fair. A perfect combination for a main character.
I absolutely love this new set of main characters and their friends. They are full of life and often times humor.
I absolutely recommend this book and honestly hope Mello makes a series from this set friends. I just did not want the story to end.
Skyler and Logan meet in L.A. when Sky’s best friend convinces her that a night out is just what she needs. Logan happens to be the new owner of the club that they go to that night and also happens to be bar tending since one of his bartenders called in sick. When they first meet, there is an immediate chemistry between the two and its obvious to them and everyone around them. Over the course of the book, they fall head of heels in love with each other but little do they know that there are a couple of people who hold grudges and like to stalk. There are quite a few different instances in this book where you are unsure as to whether or not this couple will be able to make it through, but they make it through all of the bad stuff and come out the other side better than ever. Logan loves like nobody I've ever seen before where Sky is concerned and she loves him so very much. This book was an amazing read and I hope that everyone that reads this book loves it as much as I did.
Wow i really enjoyed reading chasing dreams it had me hooked from the first chapter, i absolutley fell in love with the main characters Skylar and Logan you can't help but fall in the love with there personalitys you have skylar who is a fantastic singer but she can be really shy especially when shes round logan and performing but dont be fooled she also has a sassy side which Logan finds sexy ,then you have logan the club owner who is also a sweetheart but hes also has dominate alpha side especially behind the bedroom door if you catch my drift. This is the first book ive read from Alison Melio and what a way to start i found it impossible to put the book down once i start reading had me captivated from the start would 100% recommend this book amazing.
Wow, what can I say about Chasing Dreams, by Alison Mello? Everything, Chasing Dreams met all my standards for a good book. I laughed, cried, wanted to throw the book once and I could not put this one down. I have read many of Alison’s books and yet she still surprises me with each and every one. Logan where can I find my Logan at? He is every ladies dream man! Sweet, takes care of those he loves, the list goes on. Sky who is trying to chase her dream of singing, who is very independent and stay away from the men. What happens next is that you need to read this book! Alison’s writes in a way that makes you feel as if your right there in the book seeing everything her characters are. I highly recommend this book!
I have to say that my heart broke for Skyler. She is so lucky to have friends that support her. She has had such a hard life. She is due for a happiness. Logan has it all, except that one thing, a woman. One look at Skyler, and he know. I love books with love at first sight. Their chemistry is tangible from the get go. When trouble comes at them from two sides threatening to ruin everything, together they overcome and push through it.
Passionate story that shows you your dreams can come true if you give it a chance.
This book was scorching HOT! Man, that was intense. Between the passionate dominating scenes and the suspense, I could barely put it down. My only ding is the set-up was a little too easy. I like a little more emotion and angst and the end was tied up in a little bow and I like it a little messy at the end especially when the bulk is really good in hopes to see a book 2. This book really could have been two, but overall the balance was wonderful and the writing pretty good. Definitely worth the read!
I was given this book by Limitless Publishing for an honest review.
