I think of Karl Shapiro as a poet, one recommended by a young professor in Germany. I think his poems are tough and sensitive and ahead of their time. I had a hard time getting into EDSEL. I tried but I wasn't connecting so I stopped. I'll try again another time. This might be Shapiro's only novel.
