Army Ranger Lucas Sprigg is serving his country overseas when he receives earth shattering news. His mother was involved in a fatal car accident and passed away before news could even get to Lucas’ base. Lucas flies home to be with his five younger siblings and quickly finds out that he’s been named their guardian. Everything changes for Lucas overnight. He moves across the country and takes a desk job as an Army recruiter in order to accommodate his ready-made family.
It’s a long road from being an elite Army Ranger to a single parent, but Lucas throws himself into his new life whole-heartedly.
Isla Jenkins is an all American girl, who loves tailgating, football, and her favorite pair of jeans. It was always her dream to be a professional dancer for a national basketball team, but just before her big audition—she found out she was pregnant. The light of Isla’s new life is Lily, her rambunctious four-year-old daughter.
Lucas and Isla connect in an online message board for single parents and bond over their struggles.
When Lucas and Isla take their relationship into the real world, sparks fly, but the timing couldn’t be worse. Just as they are getting close, Isla’s ex-fiance comes back into the picture, demanding to see Lily—the daughter he’s never met. In a moment of panic, Isla tells her ex that she’s engaged. When she tells Lucas, he suggests that maybe it’s not such a bad idea.
Is their plan so crazy that it just might work? Or just plain crazy?
Find out in Lucas—the second book of the Army Wives Series!! Lucas is a novel length contemporary email order bride romance with an HEA!
2.5 stars - Such lost potential! It was not as good as the first book.
This was about "Saint" Lucas. I swear that man may be anointed sainthood before the pope! And Isla. Isla is a single parent and Lucas has just been given custody of his three youngest half siblings. But his other two siblings are basically dependent on him too. Quite a difference from the life of a single Army Ranger serving mostly overseas. Anywho, it was sweet and cute. He and Isla meet online. When they finally meet there is instant everything. But due to unforeseen baby daddy issues there are zero sexy times until the very end and it was like an afterthought at that point. Up until that point lots of time goes by and they are like comfortable old shoes. I certainly believed they cared but I could not feel the passion. Other than that I enjoyed the story and the characters. If there had been heat it would have been rated higher.
I enjoyed seeing Colton and Miles and even Karena and baby Rose! Fun to catch up with them and see them supporting their friend.
Safety gang - zero issues I can think of
The next book is about their manwhore friend Miles. I am looking forward to seeing him fall hard!
This is a wonderful story of family, strength and unwavering believe that good can come out of bad. Lucas is overseas when he gets the call that his mom is killed in a car accident. He needs to get home and take care of his siblings. Isla came home pregnant and needing her parents. Now 4 years later things are looking up.
This one sure wasn't what I expected going in. I think with how things started, a death, you knew it wasn't going to be a happy all the time romance, but that is what I liked about it. I liked that Lucas stepped up to take care of his siblings, even as it changed his life in a big way and he often felt over his head. I loved that his friends stood by to help when they could, even if it was only to lend an ear.
Isla had a different situation, but yet both could understand the challenges each had. I liked that they got to know each without meeting first. It laid down a friendship before anything else, a good thing because soon Isla needed a friend. It was great that Lucas was there to be Isla's strength when hers faltered, great that their families met and loved each other, but the best was the HEA, something that they both really needed.
So our dear ranger is stationed where danger awaits when he gets a call none of us want. He is suddenly the guardian to four, well, five children. I say, five as his sister still needs maturing. Leaving the Rangers for easier duty, life as he knew it, is no more. The new norm is slowly driving him crazy. He turns to a website and.......well you just gotta read to find out! No more spoilers! Its a great start to a fantastic sounding series! Talk about HOT! And him being a Ranger comes in handy. Booyah! A must read and will be fantastic reread! Yup, that good!!!
This is a young adult novel. Very, very slow burning. Never read a book where the main characters dont meet until half way through book and the only dirty talking (described on back) was a couple sentences at end of book. I READ A LOT of books and skimmed through this one almost the entire book.
This story was short, but great in details, love, trust, death, family. All the things we enjoy. , Lucas a real gentleman with real responsibilities, and love to go around. Isla love for her daughter were her world, until it wasn't. Great writing.😂😇🤗😇
Lucas mum has died & he needs to go home. When he gets there it turns out that he has been made guardian for the rest of his half bothers & sisters. He ends up joining an online group for single parents & met Lila!
Another winner! Having enjoyed Coltan and Karena’s romance, I was happily surprised at this one. Completely different plot yet still a sort of ‘insta-live’ romance and thoroughly enjoyable. Drama to start and some drama towards the end is the foundation of a great couple finding each other.
I enjoyed this book. It held my attention from start to finish. Unlike “Colton” the length felt right and not had important bits missing. I recommend reading this series.
Lucas finally found true love in the most unexpected way possible but his journey was an eye opener. Isla was heaven sent and I'm glad that she had Lily to help her.
I'm just going to come right out and say it.... I could totally be stalking these authors because they certainly have me hooked on the Army Wives stories!! That being said....
It's possible Lucas is my favorite soldier now. He's strong and sturdy. Which, when writing about a military man is a MUST have. But more so, he's portrayed as kind, compassionate and endearing. Which is exactly what Isla needed. This story is an epic build up to a great love story and is revealed over time. The struggles these two have had to overcome only makes me that much more happy that they have eachother. The writing style of this story is an easy flow read but very contemporary and makes you just want to keep reading. Even if the books over. The characters are super relatable And you find yourself thinking..... Where can I get me a Lucas!! This certainly isn't a surface read. There's drama and these authors NAILED it. They drag the reader into the drama and keep them there so that the reader is excited and unleashes their pent up breath at the end. I realllly am appreciative that there isn't insta love but a buildup that is derived from a budding friendship. KB and Audra are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the sultry, funny, sexy Military Wives novels!!
Lucas is an Army Ranger who is the oldest of 5 kids and is overseas when he gets the worst news ever, his mom has died in a car accident. Left with no other option than to care for his siblings he sets out to do just that. Isla is a single mom to a four year old little girl. She gave up all of her hopes and dreams when she became pregnant and after her boyfriend kicked her out.
Lucas is absolutely the sweetest guy. He is selfless, compassionate, down to earth and does whatever he can to keep the people he cares about safe. Even though he now has to work in a recruiting office instead of a Ranger he wouldn't change it for anything.
Isla has the help of her parents even though she wants to be independent and be able to handle things one her own she can't. Lucas and her meet in a single parent chat forum and hit it off. They decide to meet and see where things go. Everything is going well until Lily's dad suddenly shows up.
It was great being able to see Colton and his family from the first book and how close this group of guys really are. Can't wait for Miles' story.
So this was part two of the Army Wives series, I actually don't feel you would need to read the first book, the previous characters popped up in this one but weren't really a major part.
Lucas is a soldier and proud to be one, when the unthinkable happens, and he has to figure out how he is going to be a single parent to his younger siblings and still be in the Army. Settling for a desk job, he moves back home and tackles parenthood.
Isla is a single parent who is struggling to make it, she has a great support system but there are times where you just want to rant and vent... so she goes online to do just that. That is where Lucas and Isla cross paths, and after some months decide "lets have dinner", from there the romance starts. But what happens when the past comes back to haunt Isla, how will the new couple deal with this?
I felt that this could have been so much more than it actually was. I really liked the first book, but this story was just...... flat, I guess. I will be reading the 3rd in this series when it comes out, cuz hello I already started the series. I give this 3.5.
Wow this book really was amazing, ladies you could not have written Lucas' and Isla story any better. I know this is considered to be a book around Lucas but i really feel that the book gave us a loom at both Lucas and Isla evenly, the story would not have been complete without the other.
Lucas comes running home to his family when he learns that his mother was killednin a car accident and his four young siblings are left with no one, stepping up to the plate when he knows that he is all they have he becomes their legal guardian.
Isla is a single mom doing the best she can to support her daughter , working two jobs and living at home with her parents.
Lucas and Isla meet on a single parent website , commenting on each others posts only to learn a few montha later that they only live an hour a part, they know they have to meet and from there a relationship ia built. But when the father if Isla daughter shows up and throws a wrench into their lives how will things turn out????
Oh wow, what an amazing story!! This can be read as a stand alone...no cliffhanger!
Lucas is an Army Ranger overseas. He received a message that his mother was killed in a car accident and he must go home. He was thrown from being on his own, doing a job he loved to being "dad" of his siblings.
Isla has a four year old daughter that she's raising on her own. She lives with her parents and works to pay her bills. The father of Lily isn't in the picture, thank goodness! She belongs to a chat group that have single parents and it's a good place to vent and ask advice. She has this one person who replies to her situations with words of encouragement.
Her "support" guy from the group is none other than Lucas!! They meet and sparks fly and it's like they belong together!! All is well, until "baby daddy" decides to come back in the picture. However, all is not as it seems...or is it?
I loved this story and was captivated from the beginning. I was so in love with Lucas, he's such a great guy with a lot on his plate, yet he makes it work!!
I read the first book in this series and loved it. I wanted to know more about Colton's friends Lucas and Mile.
Although I liked this book it wasn't as good as the first.
Lovely sweet romantic story and there's definitely nothing wrong with that but I felt it was missing something. I wanted more of the connection with Lucas and Isla, I wanted to feel more of their chemistry.
Lucas is called back home to care for his younger siblings after losing their mother. Needing support and ideas for raising the kids, he turns to a online forum for single parents. Isla was forced to move back home after her fiance kicks her out while she's 4 months pregnant. 4 years later, she's a single mom to Lily. Isla does everything she can to be the best mom for Lily. She posts on a forum for single parents to get help and support. I absolutely love this quick read. You really feel for the characters. I can't wait to see where the authors go with the next book. This book can be read as a standalone.
Awesome story about Lucas, being in the service, then a terrible accident happens, he gets word, accident back in the states, he is getting sent stateside! Now an immediate guardian to 4 children, what a change, youngest is 8 yrs. Je is amazing, but something is missing, he connects with a single parent site online. Which is the same site Isla, a single mom also posts. She and Lucas go back and forth, definitely have chemistry, drawn to each other, definitely a story worth your time. Looking forward to Miles story!!
Lucas is a Army ranger stationed over seas when he is awakened and told his mother was killed in a auto accident and he is being sent home to his 4 half siblings ages 6 to 18 years of age. He now is the parent of a instant family and in over his head. Isla is the single parent of a 4 year old daughter, lives at home with her parents and is a receptionist for a book keeping company. Lucas and Isla connect on line with a single parents support group and after several months they meet for dinner and are instantly attracted to each other.
Lucas and Isla budding relationship is what each other needed. Their words of encouragement over a social chat was an inspiration that kept them going. When the doubts of the holiday seeped in, friendship and family is what grounded the hard time of being without. A lost that devastated Lucas and "The posse" life brought an entire different outlook of his future.
He found peace and a way to make it all better for the princess and his queen.
I love this story, so romantic, I never thought meeting someone on a dating sites can be or work out but it works for some. I give this a five star. I read the story of colton am so glad they are friends and the same characters. A major thank you to all our service members. I cant stop reading the story
