Charity is home free: her degree under her belt and making a beeline, straight for sunny Ft. Royal, and her sisters, Hope and Faith. Excited to see them, yet having been warned by Hope to watch herself when it came to the disarmingly charming ways of The Kraken, Charity never expected to walk right into the one man to flip all of her switches to the ‘on’ position before she’d even taken a dozen steps into town.
Nothing was everything she liked. Tall, handsome, with a pair of eyes that any woman should swoon over. Just the right mix of tortured bad boy to pique all of her healer’s instincts. Charity knew that the men of The Kraken played for keeps; all except, it seemed, for this one. Too bad no one told The Kraken that she played for keeps, too.
A.J. Downey is a Pacific Northwest girl living in an East Tennessee world who finds inspiration from her surroundings, through the people she meets, and likely as a byproduct of way too much caffeine. She specializes in real and relatable romance stories featuring that real-life kind of love that everyone craves.
As expected this was another 5 star read for me. A.J. is one of my fav's and never disappoints. I was always curious about Nothing and now I know why he was the way he was. Charity was another great female character. Together they were awesome! I hope there's more to come because I really love this group of characters.
I liked how this book brought the sister's story to an end. Charity was a hoot, a good mix between Hope and Faith.
I should have been mad at Nothing, but when you hear his story it was hard, you understood why he was so hot and cold with Charity. I found I was more upset with the other guys in the MD, hiding some important facts from Nothing, facts that might have pulled him out of his funk years earlier.
By the end of the book both Charity and Nothing are at peace and even better happy with each other.
So this was okay, it wasn't as good as Hope and Cutters book but it wasn't as boring as Faith and Marlins. Thing is I liked Charity well enough but thought she was a huge ass drama queen. The whole scene with her and Nothing having unprotected sex for the first time was not only his fault but hers as well. They were both responsible adults who got caught up in the moment and forgot something crucial. The fact that Nothing alluded that he may have some sort of STD was a bit fucked up but served her right. Her reaction was way over the top as was her sisters and the rest of the club! At the end of the day he was right, she needed to be more careful. That particular part of the book was fucked up because I don't feel everyone should have blamed Nothing, just because she's Hope's sister doesn't give her a free pass to blow things out of proportion and act all high and mighty when she was to blame for the unprotected sex too!
I always hated Nothings road name never understood why he would get such a crappie name. But this story really shows the heartache he went through and why he chose that name. Charity was the light he needed to bring him back from the dark giving us a beautiful read with their story.
Oh wow! This was another emotionally captivating, suspenseful and thrilling ride to go on. Another fantastic addition to this series. Nothing felt like he did not deserve happiness, he named himself nothing for goodness sake. In walks Charity and his world is flipped upside down. My heart broke for him. Charity was everything he needed and definitely deserved. I loved everything about this book.
This last installment of the Virtues series was my favorite. I could completely relate to Nothing, and the life he'd built for himself, the walls he'd built around his heart. This author is a master when it comes to bringing out the reality of life and giving you the opportunity to see redemption.
don't know what else to say about this one but hot damn! Goodness, I enjoy this book very much. Author AJ Downey you truly are amazing, Thank You for giving us these damaged souls who needed love from us readers.
I would have preferred more MC action but instead of concentrating so much on Nothings angst , grief and guilt. Nothing was a total jackals through the book. In my opinion the book is a Good read just not 5 stars
I am so happy I downloaded the first book In this series! I had read some things from this author but I kind of forgot about her 😗Well not anymore I'm on it now and can't stop reading😘
This one had a hard start, lots of push pull, and Nothing was a complete jerk, but when he woke up he did it with a vengeance, those that like the grovel will love this. I liked Charity, she gave as good as she got and has a heart as big as an ocean.
I really liked this book. Love Nothing and Charity together. I hate that he lost his wife and daughter but I'm glad he gave Charity a chance and Charity didn't give up on him. I hope the next book is as good as this one.
Absolutely best book in the series. Book 3 of virtues tells about Charity, the youngest of the three sisters. I loved her strength and her stubbornness as she refuses to let Nothing continue to dwell in depression.
5 STARS for Charity and Dom this one was another Love story the last and youngest of the 3 Virtue sisters. I love 💘 the author's books and never want them to end!
It was a great read. This author never disappoints to deliver a great story. It had wonderful characters and a great story line that will keep your interest and keep you reading. Rated very good
What a great storyline. These characters have been so through so much in this series. With strength they have truly overcome the bad. A brilliant performance from both narrators.
This book freaking rocked me. I absolutely loved the Virtues series but this one was my absolute favorite. This is a must read. It will definitely be going on my favorites list.
I didn't review the first two books in this trilogy because I really wanted to see how it all played out. I really liked the first book with Cutter and Hope and the quest to find Faith. It was put together well and the characters were well rounded. But sometimes Hope could annoy the piss out of you because she could get a holier than thou attitude.
Book two was Marlin and Faith and was fairly consistent. Props for writing about sex slavery, those who survived and those who don't. But, do they really survive? The mental and emotional scars remain and Downey does a great job showing that. For this reason the book was a tad slow going.
Now to book three Charity and Nothing. The whole insta lust/connection thing is typical for this genre of book. Unusual to see the woman pursue the man. There is action...hurricane, then running theme with all three books. I admit I would have expected the book to climax with that action sequence but it didn't and the book then slowed down as Nothing realized what he had and worked to keep it. So in a way that was the climax but then you have a few feel good story climaxes before the story wraps.
I will say this...Downey is good at keeping the story from just stopping after reaching the peak. She has well rounded characters that you enjoy getting to know and other characters you hope she devotes time to. Only problem is the story can lag. It may be wording or something else but the books can lag and make you just skim the paragraphs. But overall good reads. On to her next book.
I was wondering if I would like this one or not.. Nothing was not my favorite Brother. He just didn't hold my attention until this book. I really liked Charity. She is the glue to the sisters and to putting Nothing back together again. I hope we see more of the Kraken MC again. I recommend this series and the author. I have loved this series. Thank you for a great read.
Charity has been apart from her sisters Hope and Faith for some time, but now that she’s graduated with a nursing degree she joins them in Ft. Royal, Florida. As soon as Charity lays eyes on one of the Kraken, she can’t stay away. There’s something about Nothing that speaks to her, but is he too broken to be fixed by Charity?
The plot in this book is a bit designed in the beginning, but the story takes over completely and the characters write their own story.
The love that the characters have and show for each other makes me want to be more romantic and loving in my own life. They are so in the moment and so awake in life to themselves, their surroundings, and their feelings that I want to be present in every moment too.
The phrase, larger than life, is so very true in this book and for the MC books by AJ Downey.
I love how Nothing doesn’t give up on the medical profession, that he scored highest on his re-certs, that he has it in his back pocket even if he’s not mentally ready to move on. Charity is as stubborn as they get and won’t take no for an answer, even when Nothing’s actions speak very loudly. In his head, Nothing isn’t as convinced that he can’t or won’t be with Charity. This is a whirlwind of ups and downs for Charity and Nothing. Will they end up together or will Nothing’s past keep him from moving forward?
We've met Nothing in the previous two books but don't really know much about him. We know he's hurting, we know he's grieving and we know he sees himself as nothing, hence getting everyone to refer to him as Nothing, instead of the road name he was originally given.
Charity, the newly graduated nurse, has finally made it down to Florida to be with her two sisters, Faith and Hope. I really liked Charity. After the badassness that was Hope, and the fragility that was Faith, Charity was like a breath of fresh air and it doesn't take her long to find herself drawn towards a certain moody, quiet and trying his hardest to just be left alone, Nothing.
With some drama, action, hot sexy times and some heart breaking revelations, this was a nicely done conclusion to the trilogy, and I really hope that at some point AJ may revisit Ft. Royal, Florida and the Kraken MC.
Charity has graduated nursing school and is moving to be with her sisters, Hope and Faith (from the previous Virtues books). She is a fun loving lady with some guilt over her sister Faith. Nothing is currently a house painter but former paramedic. He is still dealing with guilt and grief from the death of his wife and daughter. He is going through the motions but not living. Nothing is instantly attracted to Charity but doesn't feel he deserves another woman in his life. Charity was looking for fun but couldn't stop thinking about Nothing. What will it take for Nothing to forgive himself? Will Charity be patient?
I loved this book. The sex is off the charts hot. I wanted to just hug and slap Nothing many times. Charity is such a mix of her 2 sisters - strong like Hope but sweet like Faith. While this can be read as a standalone and has no cliffhanger. I highly recommend reading the other virtues first.
a beautiful read. absolutely loved this whole series, each one very special in its own way. really well written and characters you can't help but fall for (23/7/2016)
9/9/2017 - i have started so many books lately that i haven't gotten past the first few chapters and so had to pick up something else that i really loved and Cutter's Hope was that book ... but then there was no way not to follow up with the other two virtues. Three beautiful romances written by an author who is not afraid to drag in the down and dirty of humanity and wrap it up in the sweetest love story. brilliant stories, brilliant writing and really amazing characters
28.10.19 - great writing, great stories, great characters. a very favourite series
Wow.....the main character Nothing has featured in the first books of this series. He is quiet and wracked with grief but they don't really tell you why. Charity is Hope and Faith's baby sister who we have heard loads about in the first books. She has finished her studies and comes home to live with her sisters. This is Nothing and Charity's book. We find out why he is the way he is due to the death of his wife and daughter. There is an instant attraction for both him and Charity. She tries to break through his grief but it is not without obstacles. Charity is so head strong that nothing will get in her way.
