Spirited gymnast Stacy Morrison has fallen for popular quarterback Zachary McGraw, but she's sure that he'll never share her feelings. To protect herself, she plays an old game—she pretends she doesn't want anything to do with Zack.
Zack is interested in Stacy, and he thinks he sees through her bluff. But he's been hurt before, so he refuses to make the first novel Will Stacy lay her cards on the table—or is this game over before it's even begun?
Thank cats the boring supposed A storyline — the tedious romance of flighty Stacy & lunkish Zach — takes up very little page space. There’s also an equally dreadful C story featuring whiney man baby Brad trying to drone on to poor Brenda about himself and his privileged white dude problems. But the true star here is the glorious B story featuring the truly demented Roxanne. There are also some amazing 80s fashions, a store called Foxy Lady (complete with its own sweatshop) and a cordless phone that everyone is extraordinarily excited about. 2.5 stars
