The McGee family is devastated when their beloved patriarch, Justin, suffers a heart attack. Having lost their mother too soon, Ryan and Sean can only pray for their father's recovery.
Love is endless.…
Justin knows how much his children love and need him, but he's tired and they have families of their own now. Watching his sons with their wives is bittersweet for him, because it makes him miss his beloved Beth all the more. Not a day goes by when he doesn't think about her...want to be with her.
Love is timeless.…
And suddenly, she's there. With him, beside him in some strange way he doesn't understand. But speaking and reminiscing with her about the day they met and how they fell in love seems more real than the heartbroken family holding vigil at his bedside.
Love is abiding.…
Justin's love for Beth has only strengthened over their years apart and he's longed for the time when he'd see her again. Finally, that time is here. Who has the greater claim on him, his family…his grandchildren…or the love of his life?
Book 3 of the Echos of Orson's Folly is an highly emotional love story that will keep you glued the to the pages. It takes us back to the beginning of Justin and Beth's story, how they met and how they fell in love and all the bumps in the road.
Beth was a free spirit looking to find her own way. She was smart and tenderhearted, but she stood her ground when need be. She was learning to see the world around her and what it had to offer, determined to live life on her terms. This story is a ode to her journey as she opens her eyes to see what she really wants out of life and how the love of a man can change her dreams.
Justin is that cowboy that every woman loves to read about. Sexy, strong, polite, and so in love with Beth that he has to put her hopes and dreams before his own. The way he protects Beth from Alice and Brody, the way he shields her from the ugly in the world, it all speaks to the amazing character of Justin McGee.
Perhaps my favorite character of the whole book was Jim McGee, although he was only a supporting character, he played such a huge role in helping Justin and Beth find their way to each other. He was strong and the head of his family in every aspect. He inspired respect and love from all he encountered.
This book had so much going on, the merging of the present and the past. The backstory of Justin and Beth, new experiences as a city girl encounters the ranching world, the dangers that occur in that ranching world and the chaos of a dysfunctional family life. While I completely enjoyed this story, I wished the reader was presented with end of Beth and Justin's journey.
Once again the Orson's Folly books take my breath away. I loved this whole series, and I would recommend it to any romance lover, but start with book one and read the whole series!
I don’t know how to voice how I am feeling after reading this... What a powerful, emotionally grabbing, absolutely amazing love story. I don’t think it’s possible to put into words how much I loved this book. Kay Springsteen grabbed my heart and love for the McGee’s in Lifeline Echoes, a book that-to this day-is still a part of me, and she has done it again with Abiding Echoes. The first book in The Echoes of Orson’s Folly series we get the details regarding the death of Justin’s wife, Beth. In Abiding Echoes we get their love story. How they met and fell in love. I honestly don’t think I have ever read a more heartfelt romance built from the first hello to the last pinky promise. I am still taking deep breaths just to calm my heart and try to ease the overwhelming emotional grasp their story has had on me. I feel like I’m mourning Beth like she was my own family, feeling the pain and loss Justin went through. After reading their story it shows what a strong, amazing man he is to be able to continue on after losing the love of his life. I looked back at what I wrote and almost have to chuckle because I feel like the characters in this series are real people, not just a made up story. That is how brilliantly this series is written, how much depth and emotion is poured into these characters by Kay. You have to read this series, there is just no way to completely and fully describe what a fantastic series this is!
What a roller coaster of emotions this story brings out of the reader. Justin and Beth's love story will touch your soul. Having been introduced to Justin in the previous stories we were already aware of how this tale turned out. Having been given the chance to get to know the couple and actually be part of beginning when they meet and fall in love added a whole new dimension to the character who is Justin. This was well written, emotionally charged, insightful, gripping and one of the best books I have read. Beth was such an interesting character, full of life, fun, love and laughter. She was easy to like, made everyone fall in love with her and had a big heart. Justin was a great guy, respectful, loving, fun and a hot sexy cowboy. Being able to read the story from the perspective of both characters gave a deeper insight to actual storyline and made for some interesting commentary. I thought it was interesting that the main base of the story was done in a memory. It was a unique concept that worked really well and made for extra emotional areas that squeezed your heart and released the tears. This was a story that was hard to put down, leaves you emotionally drained and wanting to know what will come next.
OMG, I am practically speechless when it comes to this book. It took my breath away. I was on such an emotional roller coaster ride throughout this book. I laughed, I cried buckets of tears and went through at least a dozen tissues. I had so many heart twinge moments, it left my chest aching. I am so glad I read most of this at home because of all the tears I shed.
We met Justin earlier in the books about each of his sons. Justin lost his wife at a younger age and she was the love of his life. No one can take the place of Beth (his Dilly Gal).
This book takes us on the journey of Justin and Beth. We get to see their relationship from start to finish. All the ups and downs, the heart breaks and heart aches, and all the spaces in between.
This was so well written. Great storyline, awesome character dialogue and wonderful description to detail. Written as a multi pov.
I need to start with the description on Goodreads. I love how this is within it: Love is family... Love is endless... Love is timeless... Love is abiding... This is all true. It tells you a little bit of what to come. Justin loves his wife and does not want to live his life without her. It makes you think the what ifs. I do not want to live my life without my husband, but could I? It also makes me think about how blessed I am.
This was a very powerful emotional read, and an amazing love story. When you find someone like Justin found in Beth, you do not let go. You fight to be together.
One of my favorite phrases in this book is "People...that's the important consideration." This is so true. If it was not for the people in our life, it would be so boring. I know my life would be without my husband and kids.
☆☆☆☆☆ I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Would I recommend this book? Yes! Author? Yes! Would I read more from this author? Yes!
I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW AND THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION .... WONDERFUL MUST READ STORY..... I LOVED THIS STORY. I found it so entertaining, the way the story is told about Justin and Beth McGee (Dilly Girl). In the beginning it talks of Justin and his grown sons....they are basically taking over the running of the ranch since he has had a heart attack. But he walks in and helps deliver twin calves and has another attack and wakes in a hospital. Though he loves his sons, watching them and their families hurts, reminding him of what he lost, his Dilly Girl. Because from the hospital it goes back in his thoughts to how he met and won the heart of Beth. You better have your Kleenex handy, you will cry some from laughter and some from sadness. You also hear about Jim and Mary McGee (Justin's Parents). This is a wonderful story of Love, stubbornness, happiness, togetherness, separateness ,foolishness, but most of real true love. I WILL LOVE TO READ MORE BY THIS AUTHOR, SHE IS GREAT !!!
Book was more like 10 stars but that isn't available so I'll stick with five.
I loved the story and Justin is such a sweetheart. The only thing I didn't like was that I knew what happened to Beth and therefore I was sad throughout the entire story.
This should probably be a 5 star review, because the story, writing and characters are amazing and real and touching. But I'm mad at Kay for breaking my heart with this bittersweet story, so I detracted a star. I'm dehydrated from crying, and someone must answer for this!
Grrrr....fine. ..5 stars, but I'm not happy about it.
Lay out under the stars and dance in the kitchen with your love. Have a family sing along and a big Sunday breakfast. Don't forget to kiss in the rain. And read Abiding Echoes! Full review at http://www.sizzlinghotbooks.net/2012/...
