How do you fight a deadly disease that came from beyond Earth? Scientists may have mistakenly released a new and deadly disease of extraterrestrial origin when they examined the genetic markers of several ancient mummies. The devastating error causes a worldwide plague—one for which mankind has no resistance. Sino expert Eric Logan and archeologist Dr. Marcia Kessler lead an expedition into China to extract a 20,000 year-old body from a glacier that could hold the secret to a cure. As they explore for the mummy, the world around them is collapsing from the effects of the strange illness that turns men into mindless monsters. The team escapes to a remote Buddhist monastery where they find a burial object that may be the answer to the pandemic, but time is running out. They must hold off an army of victims while wrestling with the possibility that they may be the last living humans on Earth...
