Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. The end of this book left on a cliffhanger kind of. Well I don't know what's going to happen next and I don't have the next book right now so that sucks :/ but I will be looking forward to it in the future. I enjoyed this book very much. Each of these books start off right where the other one left off so it's like it's all in just one book. I don't have much to say about this one much other than it had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation. If you like books with action then these are the books for you. But anyways it was good.

Okay. This is still entertaining. It's a fast read. These are my "fun"/"trash" book while I plod through Anna Karenina. But. I have so many questions.

I suspect the answer to all of the above is that Francine Pascal has no idea what it's like to actually be a criminal, and at the end of the day I'm the one who bought all these books, so the joke's on me.

Boy, am I glad I continued with the series! This book made me feel different emotions all at the same time, especially at the ending. Gaia's the typical protagonist with the attitude and the secret perfection created by unrealistic authors. The third book showed her different sides, no matter how hard the facade she wants to prove, she still has her vulnerabilities, like any other flawed human being.

I was literally on the edge of my seat with this one. I was gripping the book very hard, I'm pretty sure I creased and folded most of the pages. I was drooling so much I had to put a water basin underneath my chin. This book. OMG.

I want to continue with the series, but I don't think it's worth buying because of the inconsistency of the author, how sometimes she can make a scene so revolting to read, and sometimes how exciting. I'll just wait for one of my friends to get the continuation of this series, then surely will I continue. (freeloader) Til then!

In the third book of the Fearless series, Gaia is on her first real adventure since the reader met her and so much happens that it's hard to believe that all the events of the story occcured in one day.

Repetitive, hackneyed, boring, short, uncreative, cynical, and just like bad tv. Be smart, don't give up any more of your hard earned cash for this. But still it's much better than the first two books in the series which didn't go anywhere.

Basic Plot: While CJ attempts to kill Gaia again, Sam is kidnapped and it's up to our "hero" protagonist to overcome a series of tests to save him in under 24 hours.

Yet another unimpressive book in the ever bland Fearless series, but you might already know how much i despise this series if you've seen my previous reviews by chance, so I'll just sum up my thoughts on Run:

1) The action was pretty ok in my opinion, but it's the only thing I found good while reading.

2) What's the point of Ella and Loki exchanging super secret information over email? Emails can be easily hacked into and plans meant to be secret will be leaked. Also the messages sent can be used to trace the sender's location. This would make as much sense if I was running a crime ring and sent out emails over a widely used webmail provider like AOL Mail :/

3) What's the purpose of periods constantly being brought up around men (who are always uncomfortable with them, aside from possibly Renny)? Is it supposed to be some kind of humorous running gag? Whatever it was, it was never funny in the first place.

4)
"Was there anything that could override sex for a guy?"

I guess asexuality doesn't exist in this "realistic" literature world. Also this line comes across as stereotypical, as not all guys are super preoccupied by all things sexual.

5) As anolinde brought up, how exactly would Loki know if Gaia passed the tests if he isn't watching her all the time? You can make the argument that he has multiple goons wandering around the city, but the more I think of it, the more I wonder if Loki has anything better to do with his time.

6) At this rate, having CJ alive feels aimless as his subplot feels tacked on. Granted, he was technically supposed to be killed in the last test but even then Gaia's not the person that kills him. He should have just died in the previous book instead.

7) If the Mother-Of-All Mary Sues Gaia was as brilliant as the narrative claims, why can't she just pick the lock to Sam's dorm instead of going through all of that trouble to get the key from Heather? That whole scene just served as padding as the door lock wasn't even locked to begin with!

8) I'm supposed to be used to this by now, but whenever Gaia is brought up as a gifted child, I feel myself detesting the writing even more.

9) You'd think with all the criminal activity that's happened in the park, the security would be amped up there, right? Wrong.

10) Why didn't any of the students report to the teachers or school staff about Gaia's possession of a sex tape with one of their classmates moments after seeing it and word got out that it was hers?

11) These school fights are so scripted that no one bothers stepping in.

12) Why is Gaia running out of the detention room portrayed as a good, heroic thing? It was her fault for getting in trouble and she should have stayed to get it over with like a responsible teen regardless if Sam died. This only makes her look more of a spoiled brat. "Noble hero", my ass.

13)
 "Gaia disliked offending George"
yet in the first book she doesn't bother picking up after herself because she didn't want to be thought of as considerate by both George and Ella. You'd think Gaia would at least be neat to please George with this in mind.

14) Gaia skipping school does not make her heroic either.

15) Apparently Gaia is so attractive that even CJ starts feeling attracted to her. No comment.

16) Our ever noble protagonist had knowledge of a child molester named Frank yet never bothered turning him to the police even when he repeatedly molests a 14 year old prostitute named Lianne. She never even attempts to help Lianne in anyway. Are we even supposed to be rooting for someone this apathetic about child rapists roaming the streets?

17) The test with Frank doesn't even pay off, considering he's still going to go around and continue to assault poor children like Lianne. If anything Gaia should've actually shot him to fulfill both Loki's pathetic test and well deserved karma on Frank's part.

18) I sure like Gaia's on-and-off knowledge of her own grandparents' existence.

19)
"Fine, George," said Ella, sighing. "Gaia's lonely. Not horny- just lonely. The point is, she probably would have told you to mind your own business, anyway." She paused, then said pointedly, "She's not our child."

Why doesn't George call her out for saying any of this?

20) Remember when Fearless #1 mentioned how Gaia had Jewish background? No? Well, the church chapter in this book would have been a great opportunity to build on her non-existent Jewish ancestry. Instead the chapter is wasted for an "even better" scene of Gaia wasting her recently stolen money on a candle she didn't even light. The writing could have actually been trying to show the generous side of Gaia, but with all I've read so far it's still unconvincing.

21) The scene of Ella and CJ "messing around" behind a bush in the park (Why is it always the park?) made me cringe. Especially when the narrative says "He was probably used to teenage sluts with grungy hair and too much black eyeliner. He'd never seen actual silk this close before, let alone touched it." despite Ella herself being a promiscuous vamp.

Even after reading this novel and listing over 20 different eye-rolling moments, I'm still going to challenge myself to fully read and review every story in the Fearless series.

I just wonder what book #4 holds in store for the spiteful reader that is me...

I always marvel at these books.
"Run" being Book 3 in the series, I'm still super excited whenever I meet Gaia. The books are short and breathless - I can't even bring myself to be angry at the publisher's for making the ebooks super-expensive. I'm just grateful there ARE ebooks of this fantastic series.

Story:
Sam Moon, Gaia's crush, was kidnapped. Together with his girlfriend, Heather, whom Gaia hates, and her friend Ed, Gaia has to overcome several "tests" in order to get him back.

While the story is simple enough, you need to consider that the Fearless series is immensely long and you always need to see the big picture: The back story is often more important than the stuff thats going on at the moment.

That be said, I love the series and I loved "Run". Gaia is awesome.

enjoyed this one a lot.

picked up right where the previous one left off.

Gaia's love is kidnapped and she's forced to undergo a series of tests to free him before he dies.

oh, and is Heather delusional? al this talk about how she's so popular and everyone loves her and woe is me...got a little tiring real fast.

i am eager for the next book.

here's what i hope will happen:

I loved this book! I think this was the best so far, even though it is only the third in the series. I love having Sam kidnapped, and the trials Gaia had to go through. I also love having Tom watch over Gaia--I think it's very touching.

To add to that, I absolutely adore Ed! Gaia: Ditch Sam and go for Ed! He is just a sweetheart! Oh, and Loki...yeah, well, I think he's psycho. He's just plain weird, and I think it's really creep how he's forcing himself onto Gaia.

I cannot wait till the fouth book! I wonder what, now that CJ is dead and Sam is saved, will happen. But anyway, I really enjoyed this book! It was a fast and exciting read.

Just because I want to do something different I'm going to write the reviews in a Friends episode format. Enjoy!

The One Where Sam Moon gets Kidnapped

After finally having sex with Heather(and being caught by Gaia, the girl she's in love with), Sam Moon gets kidnapped by Loki. Even though she feels betrayed, Gaia is willing to save him. But she only has a few hours left. Will she rescue him before it's too late?

Why are this books so addicting?!!

Been rereading this series occasionally because I was absolutely obsessed with it as a kid (even when kid me decided it had veered off into complete batshit illogical insanity and forced myself to keep going). As a grown woman, certain details hit me differently such as:
- still have absolutely no idea why Sam and Gaia are so into one another.
- love how Sam is suddenly diabetic
- Loki, who is supposed to be a evil big bad supreme, comes up with genius lvl tests like "play a porn video of minors to other minors". Really?
- have no idea how that security vid could zoom in and change angles and stuff on them. Why did Loki have a camera there to begin with? Surely he has better shit to do.
- Ella and Loki using email to communicate lmao. Love how they use code words like "pawn" and then Ella will just blatantly type "he'll be dead before the first set".
- absolutely no point that Ella needed to bang CJ behind a bush cuz he was already gonna be looking for Gaia that night to begin with?
- CJ in general...pointless in this book. Could have died last book and it wouldn't have mattered.
- a big change from reading this as a kid vs an adult is as a kid I thought Gaia was a total badass but this time around I really like Heather. She feels the most well rounded and the most depth in a character out of anyone in this series.
- did Gaia really have to push Heather down a half flight of stairs?? Like god damn okay chill.
- so Loki did all of this stupid shit to what...introduce himself to Gaia? Pretty sure there could be a less eleborate and goofy way to achieve that.

I read this in a day! Easy read. The second book ended where Sam was kidnapped and this entire book is about racing the clock and trying to save him in time before he goes into diabetic shock. This book was somewhat confusing to me. The people who kidnapped Sam were trying to mess with Gaia’s life. For example, she had to reveal a dvd to the class of heather and Sam having sex and then she had to humiliate Ed. Why are they making her do these things? What’s the point? How will this benefit the kidnappers in any way? To me, that didn’t make sense. Another thing that threw me off was Gaia’s fathers twin brother. I heard he was evil. Why is he trying befriend Gaia when he’s the one who kidnapped Sam in the first place? There are so many questions that need answers which I’m hoping to find in book 4. I was really hoping that this book ended with Gaia saving the day and her and Sam fall in love but it’s much more complicated than that. This book should’ve been called Sam and the second book should’ve been called run. It would’ve made more sense because this book is about saving Sam. And the second was was mostly her running away from bad people so the second one should’ve been called run. Just a thought. Overall good and easy read. I only give 3 stars because this will probably be one of my least favorite out of the whole series.

My 3rd time reading first was high school then in 2017. Review below is from 2017 and still stands.

I still love this series because it is fast pace and never dull. It was a relief after the last two books I read (big books) sucked. Reading the Fearless books is like a comforting TV show or movie for me. When been let down here is where can go where know the people and know it work out in the end.

Run picks up two days where the book Sam left off. Sam is missing but no one has noticed yet. That is until Gaia gets an email when she and Ed are eating breakfast. She finds out in the video that Sam has been taken. She is also given a test that she has to pass in order to get Sam back by ten that night since he has sugar and needs his insulin.

The first test is to play the video that she got from her front porch. She plays it in front of the entire first period class and Ed see Sam and Heather before Gaia walked in Saturday night when Heather had wanted to finally be with him.

The second test was to steal a disc from George her guardian and take it to the park and give to a homeless man with shopping cart. She was then given her third test which was to commit a crime with the gun she was also given. She has help from Renny who was in book one Fearless. She doesn't like doing it and doesn't use the gun the way they wanted her to.

The fourth test is the hardest for her because she is supposed to humiliate Ed her best and only friend. She fails this test because Ed realizes that she doesn't really mean what she is saying by a code word that she uses.

The people give Gaia another test though since she failed this one is to kill C.J. the gang banger who has been trying kill her from book one. She fails in this too and gets into fight with one of the guys who has Sam.

I was glad that Ed showed up to the park even when told her he wouldn't. I did not like that Heather showed up too because she saw everything that Gaia did. She knows about Gaia's little secret now, just not everything.

I also did not like that Ella was involved still. She got George out the way for the day. She was rolling around in the bushes at park with C.J. so he'd be there when Gaia was there to take him on. I was glad Gaia didn't kill him.

I loved that Tom Moore, Gaia's dad saved her anymore grief with C.J. by ending him. He was going end Gaia otherwise. I did not like that Loki, his twin brother showed up acting like the little hero at the end. He acted like he took care the other guys and just left.

Sam was saved and Gaia got him his insulin right before she collapsed from over doing it. Sam thinks it was Heather who saved him which stinks, but at least he's safe.

I wish so badly that Gaia would notice that Ed likes her the way he does. He does know her where it counts even if don't know every detail about her past. It was excellent read and five stars for sure another favorite too.

So let’s start this book review off with an announcement. This will be the last Fearless series book that I tackle, and this has little to do with the lower rating it’s received but rather to do with the fact that there are 36 novels not including specials. I’m afraid that I couldn't find the next one and having to order them in one by one just isn't going to work for me. Now on to the book itself.
This installment in the series was important to the series, but I also feel like this part was written for TV more than for a book. Down to the soundtrack. It just didn't work for me. I still that we have an awesome main character to read about but she isn’t grabbing my attention as much as she did in the first book and that makes it a difficult book to work your way through.
That being said not everything in Run was stuff I didn’t like. I liked that there was still humor used and we can see a “new” characters point of view a lot more.
THANK YOU FRANCINE PASCAL FOR A GIRL SUPERHERO FOR THE AGES!
Thanks for reading,

Sidny

Gaia is back in the third installment of the Fearless series by Francine Pascal, Run. Taking off from the previous book, Gaia has concluded her climactic run, but at a heavy cost. Her uncle, disguised as her father, has taken Sam as hostage with an ultimatum: he will not turn him over to Gaia until she does what he wants. The biggest problem is Sam's health condition for he is diabetic. Without medication, he will die in 24 hours. In the meantime, Gaia must deal with a small local gang who thinks she killed one of their "brothers" in the previous book, Sam. The 17 year-old, along with the help of her friend, Ed Fargo, face the danger together for as long as they can until Gaia must face her demons alone. She is able to finally save Sam, but who will take the credit for it? and what will happen to Gaia's uncle, Loki?
I would recommend Run to young adults who enjoy a strong, female protagonist, realistic fiction, and climactic fight scenes as well as readers who have read the first two books of the Fearless series.

Run is the 3rd installment in Francine Pascal's Fearless series. I enjoy reading the fearless series because of the fast paced action, silly high school drama, and suspense. Run is no exception to the series, and has the most action we've seen yet. Gaia decides with a life such as hers, tomorrow is not guaranteed. Gaia wants to make her intentions known to her love interest Sam. Sounds easy right?..Not when you add a hostile love triangle, meddling long lost family members, New York City Thugs, and homework.

Unfortunately, Gaia's plan did not go as she hope and she finds Sam with his girlfriend Heather.
Due to the circumstances, Gaia is forced her to keep her feelings to herself. In return, someone close to Gaia kidnaps her beloved Sam forcing Gaia on a wild goose chase performing ridiculous acts in order to rescue Sam.

I'll pick up book #4 soon!

I've read this series over ten years ago. But I remember it being very good. For the first 18 books. After that the more it lasted the worst it got. I stopped at book 32. These days I wouldn't give it more than 20.

Back to the good stuff. I found that Gaia was a good strong, pretty but still flawed character. She was special without being annoying. It's just that once the author stopped looking over the shoulder of the ghost writer. Things went down the drain pretty fast.

Last note. The series may be in boxes but I won't be giving them away any time soon. She's a good example of an interesting main character in an interesting premise.

This book is much MUCH better than the last one. It actually focused on the plot and the plot actually went deeper. This is by far the best out of the three fearless books that I've read. The introduction of a new character and the long awaited appearance of a certain man made the book all the more exciting. 'Run' was edgy, thrilling, interesting and gripping. I 'll look forward to the rest of the series if they're all written like this.

This book was good. I like the fact that theirs like a big love mess going on. defiantly adds a little extra drama to the mix. The tests that Gaia had to do were cool on how they were all put together. The ending kinda made me mad. father, good or bad. How can George be so clueless. I thought it was his job to watch over Gaia. great series so far.

Oh boy, by the time I finally got to the end of this book (my copy had the first three in one large book) I was tired of this series. I am glad that she saved Sam, but by the end I really didn't want to continue on. This series has been too long and there hasn't been enough pull for me to read it. Good idea, good books, just not for me,
