When Sara Newman woke up in the morning that day, she had no plans to be kidnapped by a bunch of mercenaries, or being transported to another planet via wormhole...but that's what happened. The Captain of the Troop makes it harder on Sara at every turn. In order to protect herself she runs away but the men are determined to find her. Who will find her first? The man she's drawn to or the deranged captain?
Rated R for Adult Content/Violence/Sexual Situations.
It's an intersting story, however the audiobook was lacking! The narration, by the author, was monotone and there was a background sound, at first I thought it was sound effects, but I am not sure, it was that poor quality!
The end was rushed, so I got confused! I think I shoud reread the last 2 hours to understand better.
It's a nice space opera, I think I'll be reading the next book.. I hope the audiobook quality is better.
Great adventure tale with lots of action. The storyline was easy to get into and it never was slow. I like the characters and found them easy to identify with. This was an awesome book and I highly recommend it.
I read a lot. My whole family does. That is why our kids are so smart. Seriously, this was a great book. It had everything I been wanting in a Sci-Fi, planet colonization, settlers beginning new lives, living off the land. I could go on. But, I want to try to figure out how to buy the next book instead of just getting the sample.
Sarisart was a book that I couldn't put down. The ending held surprises that will be carried forward into a 2nd book. That's right, I learned that this will become a series. Isn't that great. I became so engrossed by the story that I forgot to eat supper. I'm trying hard not to give away any spoilers. I can say, there's a badass lady. Bad guys & good guys. Possibly aliens...you need to read in order to understand that statement. I'm smiling right now as I recall how enjoyable Sarisart is. Read it in less than 2 days. I've read other books by this author & eagerly wanted more. I'm eagerly awaiting Book 2 of SARISART & book 3 of The Adventures of Kirk Rogers. Another sci-fi involving off earth storyline.
A fun syfy story, equal parts extreme and naive. Even for syfy it’s a bit unrealistic. Nevertheless, naïveté sometimes serves us well and allows wonderful paths and directions for our lives. In life we often make decisions that we’d never make if we knew the more jaded truth. So don’t put the book down too soon. Read the whole story and enjoy the imaginative journey.
I enjoyed this but I hate spoilers so won’t go there. I will probably listen again sometime. This audio book was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author or narrator and I provided this unbiased voluntary review.
This is Avery well written book. The plot is very well executed. I enjoyed the story from start to finish. I just could not put it down. I believe C. J. Boyle is a 10 as an author. Not bad for my Grand niece. C. T.
Wow! Quite a science fiction book! C. J. Boyle did an excellent job in this intriguing story of space travel and so much more. One woman was kidnapped by a military group of men and they ended up all stranded in space. She has a lot to worry about and the men are trying to figure it out too with a commanding officer who is very demanding. Lots of good dialogue and details and it kept me guessing until the end. She read the book as well and I sped up everything to a speed that worked for me. There was a background hum that came into play at one point which was not helpful. But still, I enjoyed the story a lot. Boyle is an excellent writer!
Starting out, I was intrigued by the blurb but mostly by the fact that it felt unfinished. A little hint of the mystery they find while learning to survive in a new and harsh environment would have completed the blurb well. However, I did buy the book and read it due almost entirely to the fact that I wanted to know just what was missing from the blurb.
The backstory for the boys was intriguing and I thought that could have been delved into or maybe shown more in how differently they reacted to certain situations. I would like to have seen the tension build up between the troops more fully. I couldn’t really get a good grasp of their progression as a group.
I would have liked a bit more comradery between Sara and the men or at least among the men themselves. Everyone felt rather distant with each other and as the reader, I had a hard time feeling connected with any of them.
This story seemed less about struggling to survive a harsh new alien environment and more about a lone woman’s fierce resistance against oppression.
Consensual sexual and romantic situations could have been delved into a lot more since the threat of non-consensual acts was near constant. Skating over the positive side after repeatedly threatening the negative made the balance feel off.
I was left a little jumbled as we tried to follow too many POVs simultaneously. The less we know about certain character opinions and instead have to see their behavior through another character’s POV could have helped build suspicion and tension for the reader.
I would have liked to get to know the major characters better. I feel like they had a lot of potential. I had thought that there was foreshadowing happening about a certain character’s sister and a possible twist but nothing seemed to come of it. I did enjoy how they slowly learned to survive in the new environment they found themselves. The experimentation with the hopefully edible flora and fauna was done well. The world they found themselves was interesting and with more description I think it could have been wonderfully immersive.
Overall, I feel that this has a lot of potential and with a little tightening up, it could be great.

Sarisat is a science fiction story by independent author C.J. Boyle. It introduces us to Sara Newman, a woman consumed by a dream to establish a colony on the moon. Her entire life to this point had been spent furthering that goal, even if that meant getting away from her controlling father.
Her plans are placed on hold when a foiled kidnapping sends her and a group of male mercenaries to an alien planet. That's when this story takes on a decidedly darker feel, reminiscent of Lord of the Flies by William Golding.
This tale of survival quickly devolves as their chances for survival dwindle. Sara is forced to adapt to an ever changing situation and environment. Faced with the prospect of never returning home, she stands tall, overcomes adversity, and even risks death for the good of the group.
Sarisat is a fast paced story that keeps your eyes firmly fixed on the page. While part of a series, this book stands alone and delivers a satisfying ending that you will not see coming.
