Okay let me begin this review off with the few things that I know with an absolute certainty. First I know without a shadow of a doubt that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Second I know that I will love my husband, son, nephews, and family until I take my last breath on this earth. And third I know that Navi Robins has to be hands down the ABSOLUTE BEST WRITER I'VE READ IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!! That in a nutshell is saying a heck of a whole lot simply because I read so much and have quite a few favorites. Now let me turn to the book. The book picks up with our favorite couple Ayana and Daniel not living in the expected marital bliss that we all thought they would be in. Ayana is dealing with the insecurities that many of us women face after giving birth to our children and Daniel being the very obtuse man that they can be at times obliviously moved through life as if everything was wonderful on his home front. Daniel's response to all of the tragedy and mayhem that they encountered was to throw himself headfirst into his work and learning the survival skills that he needed in order to effectively protect his family from any future attacks. Of course the best made intentions go awry when you are dealing with individuals who thrive on tragedy and power. Enter the vixen Cloe. Now to be honest I'm a little ashamed that Ayana wasn't able to pick up on the fact that Cloe had a hidden agenda but I am willing to give her a pass due to all of the emotional upheaval that she was experiencing. Daniel though, made me want to jump inside of my kindle and choke hell, fire, and spit out of him for being so blinded by the physicality of this lecherous vermin. But alas, what can we expect from men??? LOL. Timothy was back but we were able to see a more mature and serious man than what we saw in book 1. Now don't get it twisted there were moments that he brought the funny but Mr. Robins gave us the opportunity to connect with him on yet another level that left me in awe of the man that he truly was underneath the layers that he allowed to be seen by the world. Now the most surprising twist of all had to come from the revelations of Mr. John Smith. I truly thought that he was a monster of the highest order at the end of book 1 but I guess it's true that everyone is somebody's baby and at some point in our lives we were all innocent. Now don't get it wrong, he was still a grade A, ahole, but Mr. Robins skillfully humanized him and wonders of all wonders he was able to make us empathize with the road that he traveled. At the end of the day there are so many more things that I can say about this book but I just don't want to spoil the experience for anyone else. Mr. Robins you sir, are one of the most capable story tellers that I've ever seen in my life. You took themes that are extremely serious and controversial and wove them all together creating a tale unlike any other I've ever read. The ability that you have and the talent that you must possess just in your pinky finger has to be so enormous that it far exceeds your colleagues. Now with all of that being said I am low-key upset that I have to wait for a part 3 but if I could give 10 million stars and a glowing recommendation on every national and international news outlet I would gladly cry from the hilltops MR. NAVI ROBINS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!! Kudos sir!!! Please don't make us wait too long for part 3.

I was given an ARC for an honest review. In this suspenseful book 2 , Daniel and Ayana are now married and enjoying raising their son together. They have moved up career wise and financially but all that glitters is not gold. I love how the author shows that Black love can last through any trial and tribulation. I also love how the author shows the power of the Black woman. Even when Ayana is not her best, she can move a country. Ayana without even realizing It soften the stone cold heart of an assassin. I am looking forward to book 3!!

OMG!!!!! This book made me sooooo mad but in a good way... I was yelling at characters so much people were looking at me like I was crazy. Ayanna and Daniel each took turns pissing me off. I couldn't stand chloe or John Smith. Lil Timothy warmed my heart. Big Timothy had me loving him one minute, cussing him the next, and then hating him for being so stupid. Definitely an emotional ride!!! I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys the love of reading....

One thrilling ride

This is a wonderfully sordid love story! I love Ayanna and secretly wanted her and John to hook up! I found myself immersed in their world of love, Lust and betrayal and it only makes me want more. Can't wait for part 3!
