Shapeshifter. Fugitive. Pet.There's a demonic war heating up, and Reza's right in the middle of it. When an assassination attempt wounds Reza and he's forced to hide by transforming into a dog, he knows the woman who rescued him will be on the hit list, too.

Reza will do anything to ensure the debt he owes her doesn't become a blood debt with her death. But he's ready to go home…with Alisa as his hostage, if he must.
Chameleon is the third book in the Inkubus series, but can be read as a standalone novel. It contains mature content and is not intended for readers under 18. This action-packed dark fantasy romance is perfect for readers of urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and dark fantasy, with a sweeping blend of genre-bending elements, steam, and plenty of action.
I enjoyed most of the story. Had I known it was a romance story I wouldn't have taken it up. Ms De Long prides herself of not glossing over the sexual portions of her romance so I most likely won't be picking up any more of her books. The supernatural and "action" portion were very good.
Magic is a powerful tool and when one knows how to use it, no resistance is strong enough to defy. Reading this story makes me believe the author certainly possesses some magic in her hands, when she was able to give us readers such a spellbinding gift. Crazy relationship between Reza, a demon and shifter being hunted by evil Reapers, and Alisa, sweetheart, caring and kind of innocent witch, forming in the middle of war turmoil and fights, must overcome many problems and hindrances to become fully accepted by both sides. Solving mysteries about Alisa's past and unstable future family establishment provides exactly the cherry on top each story desperately needs to be marked as a masterpiece. I so love Katie's style of writing. She literally plays with every part and every detail, exposing the heart of her story continually over pages, keeping the reader's focus and interest on the edge. The flow is natural, with as precise amount of details as necessary to shape the picture and not overwhelm or bore the reader. Her characters are complex, developing and shaping with each new situation and decision, behaving naturally and believably in both harsh and everyday situations. Combining these elements with the magical world of spells, witchcraft and demons, there is nothing one could miss in the story - well, aside of the addiction it may rise and the subsequent wish for the story to continue. I truly recommend the story to all PNR fans. Great read.
I read this as part of the Magic and Mayhem kindle box-set. The third book in the Inkubus series. You don't need to read any of the other stories in the series for this one to make sense. The blurb of this book sort of hides the fact that it is probably 60% adults scenes and 20% lovers tiffs and the last 20% only action so I wouldn't read or buy if you are wanting more action scenes or something you can give to younger readers. I've only given it 3 stars because the premise of it is good with a take on Incubi I've not read about before - which at this point, with the amount of fantasy/sci-fi stories I've read is hard - but is sadly lacking in action scenes, there isn't much in the way of story for this particular book and doesn't live up to the promise the blurb gives. I wouldn't go out of my way to read any of the other stories in the series as I prefer the percentage of scenes more geared toward actual story and action scenes with only a little bit of romance in and less sexual scenes.
