"You don't want to miss this captivating new series!"~Tess Gerritsen, New York Times Bestselling Author of the Rizzoli & Isles series

THEY SEE WHAT NO ONE ELSE SEES

Every crime scene has a smell. A look. A trail of DNA. It also has a feel. An emotional residue that lingers... floating unseen, like bacteria in the air, just waiting to be absorbed. To be experienced. To be interpreted. And only the man, the woman, and the boy know this.

When a horrific murder outside a home for children with special needs brings them to Brunswick, Maine, Kate, Noah, and Christopher find themselves in the company of a young hitchhiker, a troubled teenager who looks as if she's just been through the shock of her life. The mark on the girl's wrist suggests she's recently had a close encounter with the Beast—very close—and they soon learn that they're all in grave danger, because their quarry is still in Brunswick, taunting them, playing a very deadly game of catch me if you can...

So close and Still so far

Another entertaining read but not as psychologically thrilling as the books before this one. But it was very interesting to finally be in the mind of this beastly killer and to understand how he's been invading the authorities and our friends, Kate & Noah & Chris. I hope they slay the beast soon before I start to lose interest and never find out what the writer's end game.

The beast plays a deadly game of cat and mouse with the three unlikely companions, Kate, Noah and Christopher. Their purpose is to stop the beast's killing spree. In book four, Mark Of The Beast, they come closer to the monster than ever before.

The reader is given a glimpse into the beast's twisted mind with scenes from his POV. He's a hunter pulling the strings and setting the stage. He plays by terrorizing his victims, but does the challenge presented by the three companions chasing him match the monster's intelligence? How have they come this far?

Unknowingly they are face to face, never realizing that danger is so close, until it's too late. The suspense builds, the boy Chris wakes from a nightmare. All breaks into mayhem - saying more would spoil things but at this point - I'm at the edge of my seat - I could not put the book down.

The three heroes face the dangers, cruelty, and horror. Doubt about each other, about their mission, and the possibility of defeat, leads them into despair. But their strength is found, summoned by their individual need to stop the beast. In the end, the chase is still on . . . nice lead for more in the series.

A murder at a home for special needs children brings Kate, Noah and Christopher to Brunswick, Maine to investigate. It doesn't take them long to confirm that they are close on the heels of the Beast. As they arrive in town, they meet a young girl hitchhiking that helps them on their quest.
This was a fast-paced book that had me turning pages to see what happened next. I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.
