Relatively dry and easily speaks over beginner's heads. If I hadn't spent time previously studying options, the information would have been lost on me. I'd only recommend it if you already know the basics of options (even if you haven't traded yet) and you want to read something just to pound that knowledge in a little harder.
Not for beginners where trading is concerned. If you are new to the stock market - back away from this book! I have studied trading techniques for a few years and this book is great when providing techniques towards Options Trading; however this is no good if you are not familiar with how Options Trading works. It tries to provide some terminologies and examples, but this is no good if you do not have any background in this method of trading. I gave it two stars as it's a book I plan to return to once I am more familiar with the basics of Options Trading.
Useful, but definitely lacking in examples. The strategy section is too short and while understanding options terminology is important, the strategy is what leads to a successful trader.
I recommend this book for beginning options traders only to grasp common options terminology and as a reminder of some of the most popular strategies...but in a world where you’re your own broker, I wonder if the technical jargon’s usefulness is now obsolete.
This is a great beginners primer on trading options. A great place to start. While it does not walk you through all of the strategies, you should become familiar enough with the major concepts and principles to know what to ask of a professional; when getting started. This should be enough to do some paper trading and back testing what you have learned.
Full of jargons, Book is short, Many concepts poorly explained,
I doubt a beginner will be able to trade options just from reading this book, The book uses just as much jargon as any other book, the fact that the book is short gives them very little time to explain anything well,
Great book to establish a solid baseline understanding of Options, strategy’s to explore, and terminology. Left me hungry to read more Options books asap so I can expedite my progression on the Options learning curve.
A quick short read about options trading. The book covers the fundamentals of options trading and provides great analogy and examples to help readers understand the concept. A good starter for anyone who wants to start options trading.
My SO and I are trying to learn about investing, managing our money and all that grown-up stuff that we've mostly avoided. This has caused some financial issues and so now we're playing catch-up. He recently made some terrible investment decisions and it took quite a lot if effort to get our money back from the scam. Our hope for this book is that it makes options trading understandable and to give us enough info to decide whether it's for us or not.
The book starts with Options Basics, which includes a lot of definitions to help you understand what's out there. Useful and relevant websites and books are shared and this continues throughout this book. By the end of the chapter differences between stocks and options are clarified as is the risk/benefit level of trading options. Chapter 2 explains call and put in detail. Chapter 3 is about an options trading stratgy for a beginner and includes mistakes to avoid. Chapter 4 is about understanding the ins-and-outs of options pricing. Chapter 5 deals with metrics you need to understand. Chapter 6 covers popular strategies for trading options.
We're really happy to have read this book. There's sections of this we've already marked for re-reading. We have a plan of action thanks to this book. We don't know everything, but we have a significantly better understanding than before. Explanations are pretty clear for some complex topics. We love that we have a multi-step plan now and options trading is not as mysterious or terrifying as it once was. Our hope for the book was realized. I received this at a free or discounted rate in exchange for my honest review.
I wish I would have found this book years ago. It is very Helpful. The author explained the basics of trading, terminology, common mistakes, pricing, metrics, and strategies. The author also stresses to the readers the risks associated with investing. The Narrator was clear and concise.
