Two women on a collision course to save their daughters' lives.
Thea is almost there. In a week, she’ll be awarded her law degree from Boston’s Suffolk University. Her years of work, study, and financial struggle as a single mother are nearly over. She’ll take Emily home to Cape Cod, finally able to give her four-year-old the love and attention she deserves.
Katherine is desperate. All of her wealth cannot save Madison. No donor match has been found for a bone marrow transplant, the only treatment that will keep her daughter alive. Katherine’s last hope is her ex-husband’s illegitimate child, who might be a match. But years ago, she’d made an enemy of Thea, whom she now fears will not consent to having Emily as a donor. Katherine questions how far she will go to save her daughter. What will she do if the child is a match? Or worse, if she’s not.
Missing Emily is a compelling, suspenseful read! I loved how LeClerc handled the different viewpoints of the two mothers. I wasn’t prepared to like both mothers but the author created such sympathetic characters it was impossible not to care about both women and their struggles to save their young daughters. This is one of those stories that leaves you asking yourself..…what would I do if this happened to me?
If you’re looking for a gut-wrenching read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, I highly recommend Missing Emily.
5stars! This is a wonderful story of the complexity of BMT including the journey of two mothers and their unfailing love for their dAughters and how they loved them.
"Missing Emily" by Gerri LeClerc draws in the reader and never lets go until the last word. Maybe not even then. When Thea's daughter, Emily, is kidnapped, she pushes through the pain in order to find her little girl. Katherine's daughter, Maddy, is in danger of dying too young from a rare disease. Katherine would go to any lengths to save her sweet girl. This well-written story is worth the read.
