A concept book about Jafta's father which would make an excellent jumping off place for conversation about fathers and the things kids and fathers do together. Jafta's father is off working in the city. His friend Obed tells him his father isn't coming home, but his mother assures him that he will, a predicament kids with absent fathers will identify with. Lots of potential for conversation. Beautiful illustrations of an African family.

My son picked this book up from the library; he wasn't a fan of it at all. Maybe when he gets older he will appreciate the story. It is a cute story though. Just doesn't hold a child's attention for very long.
