Not much really happens, but like that other reviewer said, I imagine the repetition would help young readers build confidence, while the variety of descriptive words (a mix of adjectives, verbs, and nouns) would help them start sounding things out and learning synonyms. It also has "after-reading fun" at the end (questions to "help your child develop reading comprehension and increase his/her awareness of words")
This book is an easier book to read. Simba and Nala try to wake Zazu by practicing their roars. When they do it one at a time, Zazu keeps sleeping. They try again, one at a time and Zazu is still dead asleep. You’ll have to read to find out what happens!
Disney uses familiar friends to help teach children to read in this level 1 Disney book. Simple sentence per page, and usually repetitive words like Nala, Simba and roar. So once a reader can get the words down from page one they wouldn't have problems with the rest of the book. Helping their self esteem.
