Happily ever after is just the beginning. The real love story is the fight to stay together...
The Storm Inside
Thunderstorms, baseball, and memories…
They make for a potent combo. At least they do for me, especially when they come in the shape of Jake Spencer. He's the one that got away, the man who taught me thunderstorms were an aphrodisiac and baseball was foreplay. My memories of him are my most treasured... and the ones that haunt me the most.
So when he returns to town sexy, successful, and with eyes only for me, I'm torn. Do I give in to my desire and risk losing him, and my heart, all over again?
Oh, who am I kidding? I've always loved him and I probably always will. Get cozy and let me tell you the story of what happens when you give the love of your life a second chance.
Reflected in the Rain
Do. Not. Mess. With. My. Man. It won’t end well. I promise. I’ve waited too long and fought too hard to get my happily ever after. We had a wedding to prepare, a honeymoon to enjoy, and a life to plan. No one would be stupid enough to get in our way. Or so I thought. Color me surprised when Jake’s ex wiggled her way back into our lives. She says it’s just business, but I’m not taking any chances. We put the past behind us when I accepted Jake’s proposal and I’m not afraid to shove it back where it belongs. I will do whatever it takes to protect my life with Jake, even if it means playing dirty.
When Lightning Strikes
Single working mother seeks one-night stand that won’t interfere with her busy life.
Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, right? And yet, I somehow I managed to get talked into it. Not that Greg was bad in bed. He was phenomenal, actually. And so much more than sex. He was sweet and fascinating... and I’d never see him again.
Or so I thought. Somehow this man I’d never met before kept reappearing in my life at all the right times…
Grumpy workaholic seeks meaningless sex because he’s too haunted by his past for anything more.
The one time I broke my rules and brought a woman home was the mistake that changed my life. Marie wanted a simple one-night stand. I wanted a bed and a few hours to properly indulge our chemistry.
Everything was perfect until I realized exactly who she was and how very connected we actually were. Or how much that connection meant to me.
Love seeks a second chance
Our chemistry was off the charts, but Greg’s heart had already been so completely broken and I had a kid to raise. There were bigger forces to worry about. I never expected my wild night out to be anything more than an indulgence, but now that I’ve had a taste of Greg, I’m not sure I can settle for anything less than all of him.
Never Let Go
Love isn’t easy. If there is one thing I’ve learned, that’s it. Love doesn’t last because it’s perfect or fate, it’s because two people decided to fight for it. They hold on tighter than anyone else when times get tough. And right now, times are really tough.
Alexis Anne writes page-turning romances that will leave you breathless and wanting for another happily ever after. Her new book KING OF WANDS is available now!
Fast. Volatile. Gorgeous. Those are the words they used to describe Kingston Reynolds on the first day of my internship. Well, it wasn’t so much of a description as it was a warning. Do not fraternize with the drivers if you want to keep your job.
“My very first Alexis Anne book and now I'm wondering what I've been waiting for. It was a real page turner!! Gripping, edgy and very exciting.” --Tish Cocktails and Fairytales
The Storm Inside Ten years ago, Jake made a choice. One that sounds like it was necessary for their continued mental well-being, but one that hurt them both, nonetheless. Eve’s had those ten years to stew over the choice Jake made, and she has some set-in-stone opinions about it now. I’m a sucker for a second chance and I loved seeing these two finally find their way back together. However, this whole book was one long grovel. Even in a second chance romance, where the right amount of groveling is absolutely essential, this was taking the whole thing a bit too far. Jake apologized repeatedly. And Eve forgave him, repeatedly, after getting mad at him for that long-ago choice all over again. After a certain point, Eve needed to make the decision and stick to it: either forgive him and mean it, once and for all, or hold on to her anger and cut him out of her life. I enjoyed this story but I’m a little dizzy from the runaround. Reflected in the Rain I’m confused by my reactions to this book. I enjoyed the story, but there were so many fiddly little things that drove me to distraction. I loved that Jake and Eve were getting better at talking with one another, but I’m not sure they actually communicated; there were so many things that I don’t think they heard each other say. It was fun to see this slice of ‘after Happily Ever After’, but it took so long for them to deal with the root of the issue they were experiencing. When Lightning Strikes I have badly wanted to see what Greg’s Happy Ever After would look like from the moment we met him. I was also a little bit rabid to know what it was that had hurt him in the past and caused him to close up like a clam. I’m not sure Marie and Natalie were what I was envisioning for him, though. However, I adored watching this little family come together. And I loved even more seeing that their stumble didn’t take nearly as long to resolve as Jake and Eve’s. This is my favorite book in the series so far. Never Let Go This is the very best of Jake and Eve. However, if you haven’t read all of the previous books, you’ll probably be confused. There are parts of this that are a little confusing even if you have read all the earlier books. This one jumps us forward several years in time when Jake and Eve’s happy life is shaken by the revelation of who his maternal family are. Once they’re able to clear the angst and stress of that situation, they’re forced to face the fury of Mother Nature. I’m not really sure how those two story lines related, but I loved seeing the Spencers and all their friends and family pull together in those darkest hours.
Jake and Eve's series couldn't get any better couple in love and all the up and downs of heartache, forgiveness I couldn't put the book down. Greg and Marie's story was fantastic definitely all a must read!!!
