Fresh out of the Army, alpha and all around stud Chad Brand is enjoying life as a private contractor for Tank Security. That is, until he decides to go out on the town and ends up getting hit on by his boss.
Peter Tank is the ultimate alpha—bigger, stronger and more ruthless than anyone Chad has ever met—and Chad runs away with his tail between his legs before giving his intimidatingly dominant boss so much as a chance.
He just doesn’t understand. Peter is an alpha. Why would he be hitting on Chad? And why does thinking back on the encounter make Chad’s stomach feel tight and hot and fluttery?
Chad can’t really be interested in another alpha—can he?

Peter Tank is in trouble. The handsome young alpha he literally sent running for the hills is a fresh recruit, and Peter just received his performance review.
It’s not good.
Chad is not at all the ruthless, morally challenged kind of alpha Tank Security needs to get things done. He’s a genuinely good guy, and Peter has little use for those.
But if Peter fires Chad now, it’s going to look an awful lot like retaliation for rejecting Peter’s advances.
Peter has no choice but to keep Chad on, and he’s going to have to keep his paws to himself.
If only the sexy young stud didn’t make it so hard...

(This 60,000 word novel contains the story of how Peter and Chad from the Evan’s Alphas series got together. It is not necessary to have read any of the Evan’s Alphas books to understand what is going on. The story has a HEA and no cliffhanger.)

I liked Peter much better in this book than in the series. But he still had moments when he got on my nerves...:-/

I loved this book. I ‘d tried two different books this morning and rejected both of them. So I went to an author I knew would please. D. J Heart. Not the least bit sorry. Loved this book and couldn’t stop reading it.

First of all, Peter is a sociopath. Second, I don't think I've ever read an "alpha" painted in such a wide-eyed, simpering, ingenue-ish way; in fact, other than the tantalizing power-trip of seducing another alpha, I'm not even sure that it was necessary to make Chad an alpha. He seemed to only act like one in ONE scene.

No, wait, I do have to give credit for breaking some stereotypes...for bucking the trend a bit with Chad choosing to submit, to go against what others see as his nature, for finding peace and satisfaction in his sexual relationship with Peter (who is still a sociopath). But, I think it would have been a more satisfying read had Chad been like, say, Aiden. Fighting against the way he was "made" as an alpha - with all of those instincts, jockeying for position and overly aggressive posturing - to become who he wanted to be & how he wanted it. As it stands it seems like Chad is an alpha in name only...which means he might as well be a beta or whatnot with how he's portrayed.

I'm never gonna warm up to Peter, so if he's in the subsequent installments (or more like him) then I'm just gonna stop and draw the line here. No thanks.

Okay, that is one big disappointment.

Let me tell you about few problems I saw or have:

1. The story plot is crazy bad.
2. Peter who is actually the main character, is together with Aiden the most negative character from the start.
3. Chad who is also an alpha material is more an omega true the whole story, so that is one cold shower as well.
4. Ending when Peter, who is crazy bad Alpha and who killed too many to count, will change his whole business like day and night just because Chad won't be with someone who can kill innocent people for the money. - Bullshit !!!!!
5. And also - "That's a good boy" - really???? It looks like the author wanted to include some of BSDM bullshit into whole plot.

I could go on and on but I hope some of you who want to read a good story will take a note and just skip that book.

Blah, I am in a bad mood not.

I started reading this book because the premise sounded really cool. The author's name sounded familiar but with the amount of ABO/shifter stories I consume I totally forgot that the previous one of theirs promptly landed on my UGH pile.

Don't get me wrong, I love tropey stories populated by dominant alphas. What I don't like is "sociopaths are sexy" books. If your MC is cruel, evil, is in the slavery business, uses sex slaves, murders people because he's stronger than them and he simply can...
It's a little bit different if I read a book that's supposed to be a darkfic, both MCs are on the same page, nobody pretends that they're normal (hello The Administration). Here though, even though all those issues were highlighted, I don't think the author realised how terrifyingly dystopian the world was, and we were still supposed to 1) believe that the submissive MC is a good guy, and 2) forgive the other one because he's sexy and lies about not being involved in slavery anymore (??).

Also, seriously, human furniture kink is just incomprehensible to me.

"Claimed" dives into the dynamic world of Tank Security, where strength, dominance, and power dynamics reign supreme. This novel offers readers an intriguing exploration of alpha identity, unexpected attractions, and the complexities of personal and professional relationships. Through the characters of Chad Brand and Peter Tank, the narrative delves into themes of self-discovery, societal expectations, and the courage to embrace one’s true desires.

Chad Brand, freshly discharged from the Army and embodying the quintessential alpha male, finds himself in uncharted emotional territory upon encountering his boss, Peter Tank. Chad's confusion and internal turmoil are palpable as he grapples with his attraction to another alpha, challenging societal norms and his own preconceived notions of alpha identity.

Peter Tank, the epitome of an alpha’s alpha, presents a formidable front. His interest in Chad disrupts his own expectations and forces him to confront his vulnerabilities. Peter's struggle to balance his professional integrity with his personal desires adds depth to his character, making him more relatable.

The story adeptly balances elements of romance, personal growth, and the tension arising from power dynamics within the workplace. The novel's exploration of an alpha-alpha relationship offers a fresh take on traditional shifter and alpha-beta dynamics, presenting readers with a thoughtful commentary on the fluidity of attraction and the complexity of labels.

The subplot involving Chad’s performance review and Peter's dilemma over firing him introduces a compelling conflict that drives the narrative forward. This tension serves as a backdrop to their evolving relationship, highlighting themes of integrity, loyalty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The author's engaging writing style and well-paced narrative ensure that readers are hooked from the beginning. The dialogue is sharp and character-driven, allowing for natural development of relationships and plot. The descriptions of emotions and physical sensations are vivid, making Chad and Peter’s attraction and growing connection feel authentic and compelling.

"Claimed" is more than just a romance novel; it's a thought-provoking journey into the heart of what it means to defy expectations and find strength in vulnerability. The chemistry between Chad and Peter is undeniable, and their story is a testament to the idea that true strength lies in the courage to show one’s true self. With a satisfying HEA and no cliffhanger, this novel is a rewarding read for fans of the genre looking for depth, emotion, and a fresh take on alpha dynamics. Whether or not readers are familiar with the Evan’s Alphas series, "Claimed" stands strong on its own merits, making it a must-read for enthusiasts of M/M romance and shifter narratives alike.

Chad and Peter get into some kinky situations in Evan's book, and that's what I was hoping to read in this one...the meeting of the two alphas, and their kinky sex. That didn't really happen. There were no actual 'alpha' moments for Chad that made me feel his strength at all. Peter waa much more likable in this book, and Aiden was an ass as expected.
Maybe there can be a 'kinky sex with Chad and Peter' book?

There was a lot to like in this prequel, but just as much I didn't like. Loved Peter as an alpha yet I didn't care for his over powering making Chad crawl on his knees that seemed a bit much for me. The writing was good in spite of a few obvious editing problems. I'm assuming that the jerky feel to to storyline is because it was written after the series. Not sure if I will read them.

I started out liking this book but as I read more I gave it up. The first character introduced is likable and relatable, but the rest are jerks. It's all about sex and power.

Awful

Chad’s character in general seems feels very flat in the bedroom. He’s a morally conscious person that isn’t ok with harming innocent civilians and disagrees with acts of violence for the most part. But in the bedroom he just does what he’s told no question. It’s very unrealistic. He’s essentially a straight male getting involved with a very arrogant, dominant male. They have this dom/sub relationship. But there seems to be some romance too. It’s hard to tell if Chad is doing what Peter tells him because he genuinely wants to and likes submitting or if he’s just scared to say no. I think they’re should’ve been more sexual things for him to say no to other than breath play. That would’ve been more real and put more emphasis on the “love” involved. They just seem to meet, Chad submits, and that somehow makes them fall in love and wanna get married. I don’t understand it.

DNF 52%.. I gave it a try.... I've previously read this authors other books and wanted to give this one a try.
Right off the powers of different Alphas are brought into the story. Hmm I don't know if I like Peter and Aiden playing their silly games, a plot hole where Chad totally forgot to get his credit card too at the bar. Is knot a fancy word for penis in this book cause some paragraphs don't make sense. Nope I gave this a try and at 52% called it. DNF..  It would've been a great story without the Alphas etc included. It's not even a shiftier story.

Chad 30+ and was new employee to Tank Securities after he'd finished with the military.
Peter was the head of Tank and hiring personal from the Army made up his team.

I first read Omega: The Complete Series where Peter and Chad are already mated, and I just had to read this to find out how they met and became a couple. I love Peter and Chad. They are both alphas, but Peter is a very dominant uber-alpha and Chad is happy to submit to him. They are so hot together, but the addition of Evan, their omega, in the next book really magnified their love. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

It's a fast paced read and kinda like the book equivalent of junk food. It's not great but I still enjoyed it somehow.
Part of how the whole alpha thing work could have been really interesting but it's a little surface level. The world has the things and problems that you can expect with this trope. Also a little less use of the world alpha/people comparing how dominant they are wouldn't have hurt, or at least trying to say/show it a different way.
Still an entertaining read for what it is.

I'l probably read the sequel to that but I'll pass on the main series because it's probably going to get too kinky for me, if it's not already the case during Taken.

I really loved this story. I loved Pete and Chad, how Peter understood that to have a life with Chad he had to make certain changes and Chad in fact did not have to demand those changes, but Peter knew that they had to be made and he did it because Chad and his happiness are more important.

I have already read the books of the Omega 1-7 series and I know how this world and its society is built, and it is something that has surprised me and has filled me with existential doubts. 😵‍💫 It has made me question me things I usually don't think about when reading an omegaverse , and that's a good thing.

I'm glad the series is complete, so I can move on to the next book right away ✨✨

Nalingaw ra bya ko. Hahahah si Peter kay uber dominant alpha nya si Chad alpha pud but born to beta parents so less dominant sya. Nag work si Chad sa mercenary company ni Peter pero wa sya kabaw boss niya si Peter. Basta love at first sight sort of. Nya ni fall into place lang sila together. Kuyaw pud nga grabi ka harsh si Peter sa tanan but soft sa iyang mate nga si Chad. Loved the smut. Very nice. Actually katong MMM Akong ganahan basahon ani, ilang 3rd kay omega na. But wa man ko kita ato nya kita man ko naa 2 books nga prequel sa primary couple nga alpha x alpha. Mao ni ang 1st book padung ko sunod sa 2nd katong Taken. So mao to. Lingaw ra pd. Ganahan ra ko ani nga author.

A great surprise for a prequel.
It has what I was looking for in an alphaxalpha book, Peter is kind of a shit but I undertand his role in here, Chad is so fucking precious and I liked how he was not in the other alphas mindsets, the smut ws nice and even when I'm not into bdsm the "scene" was not heavy so it's enjoyable.
Not getting into the main series because of the poly turn so after long before I decided to not read it I liked this prequel and the next one too with just the two alphas.

Must read prequel

I just finished the book of Chad and Peter when I ran across their prequel. I have to admit I actually enjoyed reading it in this order. I also love the introduction to Merchant.

This was exactly what I was hoping for but not what I expected. It added so much more depth to their story and I absolutely loved it. If I didn't love Peter before he has now become my favorite Alpha

I added an extra 0.5 because I love the Alpha on Alpha trope. While I enjoyed the overall story, it felt a bit rushed, possibly because it's just a prequel to the series. I believe it could have been executed better.

Excellent story - not your typical alpha story. Dominate and submissive but of course submissive is the one with the power
Good read - you will find it hard to put down.

I liked seeing (reading) where the 3 some started. And getting a better handle on Aiden's crazy and where it started. So outside of his fatal attraction to Peter he has a bad case of I saw him first.

Oh, this was so sexy and hot. I loved reading about Peter's possessiveness, but also the chemistry between Chad and Peter were through the roof. Except for the one scene where Chad let his innocence (and stupidity? naivety?) show, I really liked everything about the book.

One of the ones I reread all the time.
