Hercules is an ex special forces soldier working as a bodyguard, and a mystery to everyone around him. His friends just know him as an extremely competent soldier and a great teammate and person. But beneath his bronzed, muscled exterior is a heart scarred by a complicated past. A past in which he loved only one woman, but wasn't allowed to be with her. But just as Hercules has decided to focus on work and put everything else aside, the woman he has always loved comes striding through the front door of Bear Claw Security with an assignment just for him. Protect her by pretending to be her fiancé. But how do you pretend to be something you desperately want to be in real life?
Valerie Niles, or Hera to her old military buddies, served for years as an intelligence specialist for Special Forces shifter units. But now the competent she-bear is back, with new curves and a new mission-convince the love of her life that it was a mistake to break up and they are meant to be together. Hera knows her plan is perfect, because over-protective Hercules can't ever resist a chance to be the hero. But the only thing that may need protecting is his her heart, because Hercules is more closed off than she even remembered, and if she can't get the wary bear to finally give up the secrets that have haunted them for years, she may just lose the love of her life for a second time.
Bear-ly Human is a full-length shifter romance with action, adventure, steamy scenes, shocking secrets and a growly bear hero who likes to get physical. Enjoy!
Terry is the author of over forty bestselling shifter romances. I love shifters and alphas and this book had it all. But Hercules is a totally different kind of shifter, and you'll just have to buy the book to find out what kind. I absolutely recommend this book. I couldn't put it down.
Hercules has a lot of secrets. One of them is his affair with "Hera" who he worked with while in Special Forces. She was the team's intelligence officer and few people knew of their involvement. When she shows up at Bear Claw Security looking for someone to pose as her fiance, he is really the only possible candidate. Bronson's brother, Mark, is new and still in training and the rest of the guys have mates. He wouldn't have let any of them take the job anyway. He and Valerie might have broken up over his inability to share his past with her, but he still knew he was her mate. Of course Valerie picked him for her own reasons. She planned to do everything in her power to turn "fake" into real.
Hercules needed a place to fit after the military. Luckily, his friends called and aided him on that.
Hera, or Valerie needed to fix her past mistakes with Hercules. She just hoped it wasn't too late. They were in the special forces together. Worked many missions together. Her on the intelligence side, him being the muscle. She came from wealth, his past was always a mystery. Can they rekindle and stay together this time??
The love story of Hercules and Valerie "Hera". Hercules vs Hera no is this story, Hera has come to Bear Claw Security to win back Hercules. She tell him that she want him to be her bodyguard at a family get together but she want more. He is to pretend to be her fiance. Will her wish come true? Great story.
Ok Hercules is an underdog in hiding. He thinks his past is to awful to drag anyone else into, but then some things happen that make him question his reality. Hera uses needing a bodyguard to get a second chance.
Her stories have some kind of attraction that pulls the reader to return time and again. I am to the point I find myself rereading previous stories just for the enjoyment. To the best of my memory she is one of ten that I do that with.
What a fantastic read. The series gets better and better. Hot sexy guys, smart, intelligent , sexy women. Some twists and turns all with a happy ever after. A must read.
Bear-ly Human book 4 of the boxed set Bear Claw Security by Terry Bolryder is one of the best stories in this series. Its exciting, full of anguish, love, dealing with who you are. Thanks
Bear-ly Human by Terry Bolryder. 3 out of 5 stars. It's time for Hercules to stop running when his bear's mate walks into Bear Claw Security asking for his services as a bodyguard. Time to man up and face the love of his life, as he explains to her why he won't mate her. But his old ex-forces teammate just isn't willing to hear the word 'no' and is just as stubborn to win him over as he is to avoid her. Hera's bear has been pining for it's lost love ever since Hercules left her, but no more. Now she's determined to do something about it and persuade him around to her way of thinking. It's just that Hercules has his reasons for not wanting to mate her and they aren't anything she would have expected. I would recommend this book to others.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hercules, a tough ex-special forces soldier turned bodyguard, is a man of few words with a painful past—one that includes a lost love he’s never forgotten. When Valerie “Hera” Niles, his former military partner and the woman he secretly still loves, shows up with a mission to convince him they belong together, Hercules faces his toughest challenge yet. Pretending to be her fiancé is just the start; the real test is breaking through the walls around his heart. This story blends action, emotional depth, and sizzling romance as two wounded souls fight for a second chance at love.
I love this series and all the sexy bears so much!!! Hercules loves his job with Bear Claw Security, he's grateful they gave him a chance after retiring from the military and was at loose ends. When Hercules is told that one of their old military buddies needs a bodyguard, he thinks nothing of it, until he learns it's not just any buddy, it's Hera. Hera is on a mission, she let Hercules walk out of her life after they fought about the secrets he keeps and she's determined to get him back. She comes up with a plan to have Hercules protect her from some imaginary danger the single males her parents have invited to their estate in hopes of mating Hera off present, hoping that the alone time together will give them a second chance to be together. The only problem is that the only man she wants, her very stubborn and devastatingly sexy mate insists that he protect her as her bodyguard only and wants to ignore their feelings for each other. Back together for the first time in two years, heat explodes between them, making Hercules forget his reason for walking away from her the first time. When someone breaks into Hera's room at the estate, the imaginary danger to Hera quickly becomes a reality and Hercules is forced to exam his feelings for her and his belief that they can't be together. This book was fantastic!!! I loved both characters so much and really loved how Hera knew she needed/wanted Hercules in her life as her mate and set out to get what she wanted and seduces the crap out of him until he couldn't remember why he was trying to keep some distance between them lol. This story also opens up so many amazing avenues for future stories that I cannot wait to read!!!
Hercules is gland to be back with his military mates. He wasn't prepared for the first body he is assigned to guard is the only woman he has loved and can't have. Assignment: pretend fiance while acting as body guard. Just what he needs – and yea! He gets to meet the parents. He's misses her since their break up but the reasons for it have not changed. Nor has his need and desire for her. Can he really be close to her and pretend a closeness that is all he wants in life? Can he be near her and touch her but not have her?
Hera wants Herc back. It doesn't matter what happened between them. This is her way to proved they still feel the same—at least she does and needs to prove to him they need to be together no matter why he feels unworthy. But she doesn't know his dark past. He never told her or anyone. Can he reveal it now? Does it matter?
There are some steamy scenes, some funny ones and of course where these guys go danger follows. Another winner. Don't miss it.
This is the 4th book in this series and should really be read after reading the first three to understand the characters and relationships. So, this story is about Hercules and Hera, who had a relationship back when they were both in the military, but it ended d/t demons from Hercules past that he couldn't /wouldn't share with her. Now Hera has a plan to get back the only man she ever loved by using an excuse of needing to hire a bodyguard/fiancé to ward off unwanted suitors that her father has arranged for her to meet. Hercules goes with her, but with the intention of keeping things strictly business. He still cannot disclose his past for fear of what she will think and doesn't want to hurt her, but feelings have a way of not staying buried. What happens when the suitors won't take no for an answer and an unlikely ally enters the mix? Will Hercules discover the secret to his past? I definitely recommend reading this book to find the answers! Loved it!!
Hercules has been in love with Hera for years. He would do anything to protect her so he is willing to act as her bodyguard when she goes to Bear Claw security for help. He knows she is his mate but they come from 2 different worlds. Hera (or Valerie as her parents call her) is from a very wealthy and aristocratic family. Herc was a lab test subject and suffers from PTSD and nightmares. Hera is under pressure by her family to pick a mate however the only one she can see herself settling down with is Herc. To give herself another chance with him she pretends she needs a bodyguard and Herc is it. She is determined not to make the same mistakes. She and Herc travel to her family's home for a weekend gathering with 3 other bears from good families who her parents picked as suitors. I loved how strong and determined Hera is in getting her mate. I felt really bad about Herc's past and proud of the way he overcame it. The surprise ending was amazing
In the fourth standalone long novella in the Bear Claw Security series, 'Hercules' a recent hire, is given his first solo assignment. 'Hera', an intelligence agent who worked with the men at BCS when they were in special ops, has come to them to hire Hercules as her bodyguard and fake fiance for a family event. Now that she's out of the service and back home, she is being pressured by her parents to mate. Even though she told them she has a secret fiance, her father has decided to force her hand by inviting three suitors to their home for the weekend. No one knows she and Hercules were lovers while in the service, or that it was her curiosity about his hidden past that eventually broke them apart. But Hera hopes this time together will give them a chance to rekindle what they had, if she can only let her questions about her mate go. This is a great KU Library read.
I was so excited when I realized Herc and Hera were from soldier bears!!! Anyway this was a great story not exactly as action packed as the others but a bit on the deeper side of things. I don't want to give away too many details but Hercs story is a sad one and I'd hoped to get a few more details however, the way it was set up in the book we know the story is defiantly not finished. Another thing I loved and did not expect was Hera's family. At the beginning I automatically assumed they'd be pretentious snobs and fight Herc and Hera's relationship. This was not the case at all.. Instead we see a family that wants the best for their daughter.. Even when they don't agree there was a realistic respect there. I can't wait for the next book.
Terry Bolryder has done it again! Book 4 in this series is about Herc and Hera. Herc is newly hired at Bear Claw Security and has worked with Hera (Valerie) in the military. They were secretly involved but Herc fearing the monster inside him has kept his distance since. Hera is at bear Claw security to hire a "bodyguard" but actually wants a 2nd chance with Herc. He has secrets that even he can't answer and feels he's not worthy of her and her rich upstanding family but goes as a fake fiance to ward off the suitors her dad has coming to their estate for a weekend get together. Herc ends up being a bodyguard and coming clean to her and her parents but also finds out things about himself that he never knew. Great read! This book was given to me for an honest review.
I enjoyed the story of a second chance at love. Valerie (or Hera)and Hercules are bear shifters that had something special but he was unwilling to share his past and she couldn't stop pressing for the information. Years have gone by and Valerie realizes that their love is more important than his past. She just has to convince him to give them another chance.
It is an interesting story of two people that belong together but have a major hurdle to get thru to be together. Hercules loves her but feels like his past is something that prevents him from having a future with Valerie. He is ashamed. Valerie knows they are mates and she would rather be alone if she can't have him. I really enjoyed the characters and storyline.
I saw this book and was like what the hay ill try it. Well I was not disappointed this book had so many levels that needed peeling back to see the truth. What do you do when you don't know your past and love a woman that has it all?! Well you do what Hercules did and walk away. What do you do when you love a man so much you are willing to trick him into a job of bodyguard of course. Hera knows she loves Hercules and she will not stop til she has him. What ensues is a battle of wills, true love and the truth of long buried fears.
This is the 4th book in the series. It was very good. Hercules is an ex-special forces soldier who has never discussed his past with anyone. He has been working with his fellow soldiers who are like his brothers at Bear Claw Security. He is still haunted by his past. When the next mission presents itself, he is floored.
Valerie Niles is Hera to her old military buddies, and she faces them once again because she needs their help.
Bear Claw Security owes their fellow soldier a lot. Therefore, help her they will.
This story is sad in parts, which was refreshing to me.
I realized when I got an email from you I had a new friend to meet. That's what your series are to me . They are like looking into a window of someone life and having an vested interest in their joys, happiness, struggles and ultimate success. Thank you for each and every journey I had been privy to. The ride is always a great one with you. Thanks please don't stop the book from coming.
I loved this story, it was full of romance, emotion, and some suspense. Hercules is a bear with a troubled past, one he hides from everyone, even the woman he loved. Hera has always loved Hercules, but his secrets tore them apart. Now that Hera needs a bodyguard, Hercules is back in her life. But can she convince him to stay with her this time, and to be her mate?
Hercules and Hera have a very intense and hidden past with each other. Hercules called it off because he does not think he is worthy. When Hera comes needing a bodyguard and picks Hercules for the job their passion is to much to ignore. When a stranger says he knows where and who Hercules came from can they have the future she has always wanted with him? Can he be whole with what happened to him?
hercules did not know who his parents were he thought he was created in a lab, Hera knows he is hers he just will not look into his past or let anyone else in. when she hires him as a body guard temptation is to high and they are back together when she is physically threatened Hercules is there and when his true past comes out as with his parentage it clears the way for them to be together finally, can he be ok with his past?
I really like this series, however I don't feel "Bear-ly Human" measured up to the others. Unfortunately I can't put my finger on what was wrong. Maybe it was the mystery surrounding Hercules or maybe the subtle pushiness of Hera. I didn't like Bentley in any way, shape, or form, and I couldn't figure out why Hera's parents selected him as a suitor.
Anyway, yes, it was good, just not one of the series best.
Hercules, man he sounds fantastic... Yummy... Cherry on my Sunday.. Total BA, walked away from love. Man, I so know what it is like to not feel like you are enough for someone. How it can eat at you. Here wasn't going to let that stop her. he thinks she cant comprehend what blackness in your life and how false beliefs and false lies can cripple you. SHE KNOWS the) right PERSON, love... (ok corny moment) can truly over come anything. Herc just have to truat
Hera hired an old flame Hercules to stay at her parents place and be her bodyguard/fiance. Only Hera has other plans she's still deeply in love with Hercules and wants him as her mate. Only thing that broke them up before was his secret past he wouldn't tell her about. Well it's been a few years and his secret is still hidden. Can Hercules love her enough to let her into her past??? Or does Hera love him enough to accept his hidden past??? Must read great series.
