The town of Violet aka Violence is almost a Hell on Wheels town, some fight to take over but who is really behind it all. Jed Reno asks his old friend Tim Colter to come and save the town, but is it worth saving? The Edge of Violence by William W. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone is set in the era of cap and ball guns. Colter has an edge since he uses a LeMat revolver. This is a great western and I finally got round to reading it. I have a bunch of them laying around, but lack the time.

This is a great story written by a good author who ensured proper editing and grammar. Good wins over evil again!

This is only a two book series? That's sad. This one is 22 years later. Tim Colter is a US Deputy Marshal in Oregon. Found it interesting he lived 60 miles west of Eugene, Oregon. That would put him in the Heceta beach, Florence, Oregon area. Never said a town where he was at in the story.

Interesting on the Gardner Shackle or also called the Oregon boot. Read up some more history on it. Great idea.

I didn't know if I would stay with this one for about the first third of the book. There was a lot of historical information and explanation. However, after we got into the story it moved right along and I really enjoyed it. Tim Colter is now 22 years and has a badge as a U.S. Deputy Marshal, Idaho Territory. Bad men are running the little town of Violet and some of the townspeople have asked for his help in taming the town. We also get a glimpse of the building of the Union Pacific Railroad and a swarm of locusts passing thru. Very entertaining.
