Feast your eyes on new mouth-watering stories of the Belcher family, the stars of Fox Television's fan-favorite animated sitcom! Written and illustrated by the fine folks at the Emmy Award-winning studio Bento Box Entertainment, the continuing comic book hijinks of parents Bob and Linda and ragamuffins Tina, Gene, and Louise will surely satisfy fans of all ages. You've never seen daydreams quite like those of the Belchers, as Louise finds herself sucked into a videogame, Gene's rhymes climb to new heights in Jack and the Gene-stalk, and Tina takes a fateful trip to Tinagan's Island... and that's just for starters!
Another good volume. Not much to say I haven't said before, the comic is good but goes in a slightly different direction than the TV show. Each issue has one story each from the three kids. My issue with that is Gene's story always rhymes, and a bigger issue is that Bob is my favorite character and he's usually relegated to a supporting character. Still though, I'm a huge fan of the show and the comic is always fun.
BOB'S BURGERS stories continue to be pretty fun and enjoyable, but I will admit that they're kind of starting to fall into a rut in terms of how they are set up. It's always Tina's Erotic Friend Fiction, Louise's Unsolved Mysteries, and Gene's Rhymey Rhymes. These formulas do work and they definitely have their laugh out loud moments, but I'm starting to want a little bit more. The good news though is that the characters still feel very true to their nature and I have enjoyed seeing what parodies they stories will take on next.
Possibly worth a read for fans of Bob's Burgers but cannot imagine it'd be any interest to those unfamiliar. Much like the first volume, it's a collection of vignettes from Gene, Tina and Louise centered on their personalities and wild imaginations. This often works well in the show on occasion, but it gets very sickly and stuffed when it's all the stories are about. The variation on the art styles from different artists is incredible though and makes it worth looking into. If it wasn't this stylised, it'd be a pass!
Estás historias cortas definitivamente se sienten como una extensión de la serie. El humor y la imaginación están presentes en cada una de las páginas 🍔
I don’t know what it was about this one, but I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as the previous comics. I still like the format of Tina, Gene and Louise’s unique types of stories, but Gene’s were lacklustre, Louise’s seemed to end often with very little resolution and even Tina’s (which are usually my fav) seemed to just end flatly (like the Titanic one… suddenly everyone just wants to work more because of the music? It was odd.)
My Recommendation: Gene's and Louise's were stronger than Tina's because most of the references are hyper specific. I actually like when Tina writes her own, like the continuation of the Louise/Tina hybrid X-Files. Worth a read, again if you love the show, but maybe not if you're not invested in the characters.
My Response: Another great palate cleanser as I make my way through Brandon Turner's The Book on Rental Property Investing.
This is the first collection that had a continuation from a previous collection. Thankfully it was one of the ones I enjoyed (Louise's parody of X-Files), or I wouldn't have really remembered it. Tina's friend fiction this time explored Titanic and Top Gun meanwhile Gene's story times explored classic fairy tales Jack and the Beanstalk and King Midas and the Golden Touch.
I'm going to use this collection as a stand-in for all the comics (issues 1-16), since I don't want to review them all individually. Each issue contains a story from Tina, one from Gene, and one from Louise. I like Louise's stories the best because they take place in the show's universe and have the most unique plots. Tina and Gene's stories are mostly parodies of books or movies. Gene presents his stories in poem form, which actually makes them a bit annoying to read. Tina's erotic friend-fiction is hit or miss, but some of them are really good.
The art is not quite the same as what's in the show, but it's still good. The characters seem consistent with how they are in the show. If anything, I wish the issues had longer single stories, instead of three short stories.
I think this was my favourite of the book series. I liked the concepts best, and that Louise shines as the only child who uses her thirst for knowledge as an activist and scientist, as opposed to the other kids who get lost in their own chase for fame. She's a bit drunk with power at times, but who isn't?
These are usually hit or miss with me. This one was a complete hit. I loved as all the different art styles and this collection of stories was the best do far. Linda's family portrait and Bob's burger of the day segments were completely gone but I found I didn't miss them.
Continued fun with the Belcher kiddos. I really enjoy the elaborate homages made to classic and popular movies, TV and stories. These comics also showcase some really creative artwork with the familiar characters.
The stories are entertaining and true to character, and the art is just gorgeous! There are several different art styles in this collection, and I think they're all so beautiful and creative.
Same as the previous volumes. Lots of fun stories that feature our favorite characters. Would like to see more of Mort, Gayle, and Teddy. Otherwise, very good.
cute! idk if it's how all the comics are set up, but each volume of this included a Tina fan fic story, a Louise sci-fi x-files type story, and a gene rhyming fairy tale story.
