A practical career handbook presents an innovative, step-by-step process designed to help create, propose, negotiate, and successfully implement a flexible working arrangement that meets individual needs and allows readers to fit work into their lives, rather than the other way around. 25,000 first printing.
Cali Yost's book is an excellent guide to creating the work-life fit that works best for you. Yost weaves personal anecdotes, background, and convictions together with tips for identifying your personal values and needs and setting yourself up to achieve.
While many books seek to convince the organization of the strategic value of work-life flexibility, this one aims to empower the individual worker. This is a critical piece of work, as no organizational philosophy or strategy can produce the right fit for employees who don't advocate for themselves.
I read this mostly for the anecdotes, since it's meant to be a workbook that helps you decide how to approach a work-life balance shift. I anticipate I'll probably need to work through this book at some point in the future, but right now it was mainly good food for thought.
