To be honest, I knew what a lot of these phrases were (or could guess). If one is learning the Korean language, I suppose this could be useful. It would be a decent addition on top of your normal learning.
I have watched enough YouTube videos and read enough manhwa to know what words like “hyung” and “oppa” mean. So those weren’t new to me. A lot of the rest were because I haven’t watched any k-dramas yet.
The best use of this, in my eyes, would be to watch a k-drama and find out words that you don’t recognize, then try to find it in here and see what it means. I suppose you could have it open when you’re watching a k-pop idol’s v live, too. It was written for someone who is already learning Korean, so if you are interested in that, it would help out.
For me, it was a fun read. There was a couple of instances where I was like “ohhh that’s what they mean” but it mostly wasn’t useful for me. I can tell that the author did put a lot of work into it and I’m impressed at the result.
The weirdest part about this was the examples. They were super cheesy. I do understand that they are there to see how one could potentially use it in an English sentence. Ah well. It’s useful.
(Tbh I just learned what some phrases mean from hearing in context spoken by native Koreans and just searching up the definition.)
